Tony Wroten had the 2nd fastest time in nba combine history with a 3.0 only second to his cousin nate robinson . Just thought people may like to know that since this site failed to post the correct result and at 6’6 may be pound for pound the fastest , most savy gaurd in recent memory . Also Tony is a far more superior gaurd than kendall or lillard period . Kendall was in sports illustrated as a 6th grader and still chose to hold his self back to seem better than his new class . So for a guy who was supposed to be a college junior ya he had a nice iq and mature game . Tony just turned 19 in april and yes he is sometimes sparatic but has a pottential that is unmatched in this draft . Lillard would never workout against tony because he would be destroyed for a job .Tonys aggression is sometimes looked upon as brash but people please dont buy into the hype . Tony is one of the most solid 19 yr old kids you could meet . He has alot to work on Yes !! but that is all that is stated in attemp to downplay this kid . He is a top 5 prospect with what he has right now though ! I will also include some obvious video to prove Tony is a phenom that none of the draft sites have posted to show instead of write to add validity to this message http://youtu.be/HooPPwJTU3Y?hd=1

Leadership ??? At 18 Tony scored 30 on duke in madison square !! there is no way to down play that !while leaders T.ross and Gaddy admited the bright lights of the garden and duke had them a little nervous (understandable) but there was an 18 yr old kid who was fearless . Imagine going to a war and your sargent hesitates and gets people killed while the 18 yr old kid from rotc who was just along for the ride , leads your troops to near victory …come on generals i mean gms who are you gonna take to lead your next war ??? Romar made a mistake by not giving Tony full rein (I commend Romars Loyalty to his returners so very understandable ) but Tony led the pack 12 in scoring with not a single play called for him . was never even told to post up much much smaller gaurds .shoot lol that was taboo . was specifically told not to shoot ..repeadedly !i saw tony score 50 points in pro am all jumpers two months before . he scored 42 in all star game and was mvp for the 2nd yr and you know the talent of seattle nba guys http://youtu.be/4-EEuWjC0j0?hd=1

Put lillard or kendall at uw under the same scrutiny they would not be record breakers or on espn top plays twice in same month and to be real those guys at 18 wouldnt even have seen the floor people . Put Tony at north carolina or kentucky and there would be no doubt he is a giant magician , he showed you his superboy vision at the jordan game . growing up Kendall was never even better than abdul gaddy but he developed . Check statistics and i gaurantee that Tony is the same age or even younger than some of your top rated highschool seniors especially prep and post grad !! His bad attituide lol Michael Jordan specifically used to tell players at north carolina that they should be honered to be in his presence let alone play basketball with him . MJ talked more sh*t than mayweather as a 18 19 20 yr old kid but now you get to see that weaties , hanes smile . people grow up or atleast refine themselves as will Tony ! As strong minded as you are, when mass media says you cant shoot or make free throws it will play with your mental!!The sickening part of these reviews is that he can actually shoot !! ive seen Tony hit 11 , 12 3s in one game several times growing up …when that wise gm says heres a few million dollars and your dream come true because we believe in you watch how that brown thing starts dropping in that round thing ! he is a lefty and it is in his blood , his aunt joyce walker – lsu hall of fame , one of the first ladys to play for harlem globetrotters and one of the purest shooters in history knows when he finds it he will never loose it . heres a tip for trainers and coaches , when he leaves it up there and his fingers point towards rim he is automatic …TRUST . At the fiba games many scouts said undoubtedly he was the number 1 pro prospect and though many people second guess there selves to be popular …THAT HAS NOT CHANGED . Ask peyton siva of louiville how much of a great team mate tony was and the leadership he had even as a 14 yr old playing up with them , the puzzle that is tony wroten is not hard to put together , in this same yr Tony at 14 droped 38 on the prestigeous boo williams when kendall at 17 was a non factor ? http://youtu.be/YVhduTLzM30 I have seen tony interact with his friends and family for yrs and if tony had 10 dollars he would keep maybe a quarter and give away the 9.75 this is no exageration and something gms should know about his character . you got kids in stolen houses , taking money ,in gang brawls and complete head cases going lottery but you label tony wroten as a bad apple lol as tough as this kid is has he even been suspended for a fight . media is a very powerful tool but im not buying into that Tony is not the top point . As much as critics want Tony to stop half *ssing his game , Stop half *ss reporting . here are some more videos and ya higlights can make anyone look great but if he wasnt great there wouldnt be numerous consistant highlights to make . ps L.O.E is a group of childhood friends that all play college sports and aiming to get degrees in business and communications .

Wroten is not a pure point guard as evident to his 3.8:3.5 assist to turnover ratio. He can’t make the simple passes like a true point guard and instead always tries to be flashy his passes also put his teammates in bad spots rather than set them up. Potential wise he has the most but he reminds me of Kyle weaver too much

i didnt read everything in the OP, but after skim reading, one thing that stood out was the claim that wroten scored 30 on duke in MSGarden. He actually had 23. Admittingly it was 23 in just 24 minutes on 8-12 shooting where he made the duke gaurds look helpless, but if you are just throwing numbers out there randomly without checking your stats, it leads to me wonder how much else you just threw out there in order to make wroten look good.

i appreciate you keeping it real while correcting me sir ( only 23 on duke in madison square garden at 18 yrs old ) but the fact remains the example holds true . The kid is from a city full of pros and legit NBA players …ask them , im sure you could respect the slew of nba guys from washington and there different experiences and they are all in agreement that Tony is washingtons prince and by far the best point in this draft . Lillard is good but would not even come close to getting mvp in seattle proam among the talent that participates . im nobody … just tryna spark some thoughts . this kid can shoot , lead a team and thrive in the nba !

NOBODY needed a second year in college more than Wroten. If he is truly a point guard, learning to run a team and quality decision making are imparitive, so is shooting. He isn’t there yet. He has tremendous physical abilities and passes extremely well, but his game is incomplete. Word is his interviews actually went very well…. Regardless, Wroten enters the league unprepared at the most difficult position to master. The fact that his shot is so bad really concerns teams. Getting into the first round is not a given for him right now.

They let those stereotypes and things like that hinder their judgement so much that people like Isaiah thomas get completely skipped over. If you look closely at the combine measurements isaiah thomas’s standing reach was higher than Kemba’s which in alot of ways would make him effectively a bit taller than kemba even though Kemba is 6’1" and Thomas is 5’10",,,not saying that thomas is necessarily a better player than kemba (even though…the argument could be made) but Thomas was clearly a better player than fredette, and many other players who are probably now in the d-league but he was over looked for mere aesthetic reasons like height,,,So the same mistake could be being made right now…Fact is that Wroten is an electric top 10 talent…he’s 6’5" ,super quick, a great ballhandler, one of a kind court vision, and can get to the rim at will…i feel like he will at THE LEAST be a 15 ppg 5 assist player over the next 3 years with alot of room improvement especially with jumpshots being the most improvable aspect of any player’s game…hes a great top 10 talent, wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up better than Rivers and Lamb.

Plus TWJr has won a game with his defense as he blocked an Arizona player’s lay up attempt as the clock ran out in Arizona.

People who talk about his broken jumper (JKidd, Rondo anyone?) & high TO to Assist rate at UW (Gaddy ran the pg spot for over 30 plus minutes a game) are stuck on stupid because N’Diaye dropped so many TWJr dimes that hit him right in his hands and the ones that he did catch he didn’t finish enough of them off strong at the rim on a consistent enough basis.

In the NBA TWJr will have bigs that can catch and finish his dimes on time at a high rate- TWJr (who just turned 19) will be a steal if he falls out of the top 10 for any team that drafts him plus he’s a gym rat not a nite club rat he will only get better with pro shooting coaches & hours in the gym.

I’d love to see a Wroten Jr & Rubio (once healthy) backcourt in Minnesota that would be sick…..

Lol..At this Time next year..All of us will be asking how did this kid get overlooked in the draft…Despite his Limitations,Memphis coach Hollins said he loves Wroten playmaking ability, size and ability to get to the rim..I doubt he gets pass Memphis…Who might chose him to backup Conley. His shot will come around,if he’s willing to work on it..Jason Kidd and Mike Conley werent great shooters when they came in the nba..And still arent great shooters..But they’ve worked on their shot and are among the leaders percentage wise in the nba…

Are you Wroten’s agent or something?  You joined today and your first 5 posts are all pumping Wroten.

Bascially, Wroten wants to be paid to learn to shoot.  He shoulda had that down already or spent another year in D1 doing exactly that.  Don’t get me wrong,… Wroten has the potential to be everything you said he is, but he’s not there right now and some dudes can never put it together.  Thats a massive risk for a GM with his job on the line to take…. unless risk outweighs reward, which a very late 1st round or second round pick should afford.

I think this guy is going to be a good player.  I’m not sure what teams think of him, but I feel like 10 to NO or 11 to Portland wouldn’t be unreasonable.  How often does this kind of athleticism, size, body control, and ball handling come along in one 19 year old lefty?  If I was a GM, this is the kind of player I would probably pull the trigger on a little early just to make sure I get him.

Wroten has the potential to become an elite PG in the NBA. in this currrent time, i see him being a solid NBA point guard. someone like andre miller with better athleticism and a shade below miller in terms of court vision. if wroten develops his jumpshot, matures as a PG, and improves in the half-court i see him being someone like Russell Westbrook, (hopefully without the mad shooting spurts).

I didnt read the whole thing but tony never scored 30 on duke in MSG, even though thats absolutely pointless in a discussion for best pg… He out of all pointguards is by far probably the best athlete , passer , and guy with most potential. The only thing that should and is slowing him down is his bball IQ and leadership… he can always work on his shooting but those first 2 a great point guard should already have em.

As far as best Pg, i havent seen enough of lillard or against quality competition to claim him the best, instead i’ll give it to Kendall Marshall (UNC bias you can say) but kendall got better as the year went on..he became more of a scorer who could ALSO run a team..give him tony wroten’s athleticism and speed and he’s probably the best PURE PG prospect since Nash

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE STOP OVERRATING TONY WROTEN! He’s not even a PG IMO. I don’t how any NBA team could trust him running an offense. He’s an atrocious decision-maker w low BBIQ. He’s being projected in the 2nd round now, where he belongs.

you know Wroten is an immense talent…but I agree, being in the 1st round isnt a given because he is point blank a bad shooter for ANYONE on an NBA level.  you can take just about everything and everyone with a grain of salt from the Combine, but this guy couldnt buy a jumpshot there in just basic shootarounds.

I always debate guys when they say Tyreke or Kendall Marshall cant shoot.  that is not true, both have the makings of solid jumpshots once they get set.  Wroten is the one guy that I have seen in recent memory that absolutely cannot shoot.

I have no doubt that Hollins likes him, but Selby is better right now and has shown some good potential so I think they may think long and hard about selecting Wroten.  I am a fan of Wroten’s but he is not on the level of Rondo as far as shooting and he doesnt have Rondo’s IQ to make up for it.

As much upside as he has, he will NEVER be an elite or close to it if he doesnt improve drastically in the shooting department because he will be a liability.  Teams will play 10′ off of him.  Kidd and Conley were never that bad as far as shooting.

Pro-1, thats almost identitcal to how Javaris Crittenton started his NBA career. he’s one of many prime examples why point guards to be in this league should be patient and develop their games more before going pro since it will benefit them  more in the short and long run. there was Derek Rose and Tyreke Evans(debateable if point guard) who was a one and done in college then made an imediete impact in the league. a lot needed more years in the league before becoming a contributer, and some even never develop and play themselves out of the league.

    3 things on Wroten

    1) he can’t shoot so hes not a true SG

    2) hes a terrible decision-maker so he’s not a true PG

    3) that being said, the guy has a knack for playmaking, just in a very sloppy way

    3 things on Wroten Jr:

    1. He can get to the rim and finish strong while drawing fouls.

    2. He has excellent court vision and passing ability.

    3. He has won a game (Arizona) with his defense.

TW Jr stands 6’4.75 w/o shoes add an inch for shoes and he’s a shade under 6’6 at 6’5.75 plus he’s a rock solid 203 pounds (5.2% body fat) with sprinters speed and wide receiver agility.

A 19 year old certified gym rat and people can’t fathom him improving on his outside shot & decision making?

People do you realize that Abdul Gaddy (former Mickey D’s All American) was the UW’s starting PG and played well over 30 minutes a game?

To say Tyreke "cant shoot" is a misnomer. Is he a good shooter in the NBA yet? No. If you look at his form and him shooting around, you can see, its more of how he plays in game that causes him no to be a good jumpshooter. I can tell you right now, if he could get the mental focus to be as relaxed on the court as he is in this shootaround, he would be a much better jumpshooter. The way he can achieve that…simple….work. Repititions. Let it become 2nd nature. Larry Bird would shoot a 1000 jumpers a day until he said when it came time to shoot, the ball was out of his hands. He didnt have to think about it. Tyreke has questionable work ethic, thats his problem.

now look at this…Wroten cant hit a shot standing in the same freaking spot. Yet this is an NBA player? I can shoot better than Wroten, if we judge by this video. So….Wroten is questionable as a PG and unless he is an elite defender….he would be a horrible shooting guard.

Tony Wroten ran a 3.24 sec 3/4 court sprint.  He wasn’t even the 2nd fastest player this year, let alone in the history of the combine.

In the drill you referenced, he also registered a slower time than Kendall Marshall and is 5th fastest PG prospect THIS SEASON.

If you’re going to lead with something, try not making it an embellished stat.

I think he’s a prime candidate to slip into the 2nd round.

Tony has all the tools to be an elite NBA defender as he was the 2011 U18 USA Team’s best wing defender as per coaching staff.

Some people tend to focus on his deficiencies while overlooking his strengths as it’s amazing what he has done so far with his game being so limited with so much room for improvement in certain area’s of his game this kid’s upside if off the charts.

Wait until the 2012 NBA Vegas Summer League takes place as he will be one of the big names of those summer games….

If Wroten is smart he models his game after Rondo. Rondo had may of the same questions about his game entering the NBA. Wroten’s physical gifts are outstanding, its the mental part he must fix. Every pass can’t be a hilight reel pass, he needs to learn to run the team take advantage of his abilities and work to get his jump shot to average level. Jason kidd couldn’t shoot for years either, but his ability to run a team made up for that. Both JK and Rondo are guys Wroten should get a ton of tape on and model his game in that fashion..

I dont doubt that.  What I am saying is, he has to hang his hat on that because he is just not a good shooter even on the college level.  He is talented, but has a fatal flaw.

Do you know what Muggsy Bogues biggest liability was?  If you are thinking his height…think again.  He was tenacious as a defender and he was great PG in the open court.  His biggest liability was his jumpshot.  When the Hornets were in the playoffs, teams sagged off of Muggsy.  Thats just one example….and Muggsy could shoot a lot better than Wroten.

Just saying….in the NBA you cant have zero jumpshot and get away with it.  3 of 27 jumpshots at Washington with his feet set?  Wow.

Wait until Vegas Summer League and we’ll see who burns up the court…………..

Tony did have the fastest sprint time this yr . the time listed is a mistake .Tony is light years faster than kendle . watch the jordan brand classic even J Billis stated " to put this kids speed in perspective HE RAN A 10.7 HUNDRED meter ". no one in this draft is that fast sir and he is 6’6 in  shoes so my bold opening statement is the truth .

Combine numbers pretty much mean zero. You can be the slowest guy out their but if you dominate in a game you are the better player (Z-Bo is slower than Josh McRoberts). This isn’t track

To be the biggest fastest player at his position means a hell of alot . he is also without question the best passer .he is also without question the most aggressive and on top of that is the youngest smh .  if the same people on this thread picked the the fiba games or jordan brand classic roster tony would not have made the cut of the most elite players lol but bottom line is that he is . As idiotic as this sounds dont judge Tony by his college season . no big man , no elite players to run with except ross almost hynotized into thinking he cant shoot and still broke records and made top sportscenter plays . again this may sound stupid but look at sh*t like the jordan game or aau vegas stuff … in the crowd of elite he is elite … let that soak in because it will later . read every article and argument . there is no other player that publications mention as a horrible shooter , cant lead a team , blah blah blah then in the same breath say he has the most pottential and may be one of the best in the nba in this class . The boy is a monster magician as you all will soon find out , i saw him at an aau tournament throw a curve ball with the basketball , it literally curved around a defender and hit his man perfect what was more insane it was a full court pass . not a groupie just a fan of the game and im just sayin . I hate when Tony Bullsh*ts man I hate when lebron does too . i feel like how magic felt about lebron after game 6 of the boston series about tony . he has truly amazed me several times on a plane were the game is elevated to another level thats why im a fan . lillard just doesnt have that in him and has never wowed me in the last 8 years of seeing him play . thats all folks

No Carr is not better. Carr isn’t even one of the top 25 players in his class.  Has this site really come down too people who base talent off of youtube and low basketball knowledge

So….everybody in the media, who was at the combine, got Wroten’s time wrong, but you got it right?

Tony Wroten’s 10.78 sec 100 meter time in one of the first track meets of the year was a non-official hand time that was leeked to the media because he is, well,…an extremely highly touted high school basketball star. His best time for his senior season in high school was 11.16 sec, which is still an impressive time, but just another example of you fabricating stats.

    http://www.athletic.net/trackandfield/Athlete.aspx?AID=3031118

Wroten was a good high school track athlete, but not great. Running 11 second 100 meters is nothing to scoff at, but there were kids at my school doing the same thing and they sure as hell weren’t hands down faster than everyone in the NBA except Nate Robinson. Running 11 sec 100 meter dashes will get you DII, Juco and NAIA scholarship offers, but Tony isn’t Hussein Bolt in a basketball jersey.

      • Wroten measured at 6’4 3/4 with no shoes on and 6’6 with shoes. That is taller than many expected him to be because basketball players are usually referenced with shoes on. He weighed 203, with a 6’9″ wingspan, and 8’5″ reach.
      • Ross measured at 6’6″ without shoes and 6’7″ with shoes on. This is about an inch higher than expected though as the season went on last year, people were noticing that he was just barely shorter than Darnell Gant. He weighed 196.6, with a 6’7 1/2″ wingspan, and a 8’5″ reach.
      • Wroten also was the fastest in the sprint. This is great for his stock as he not only was the fastest at his position but the fastest at the combine.

And all of tony’s time during his brief track run were in regular shoes in a reciever stance . I agree he is not a track guy but is by far the fastest person in this draft mr wolfy

tony wroten averaged over 16 points a game and scored 27 and 29 poins in games this season without taking a SINGLE jumpshot. he is a next level passer and is only 19 years old. with a strong work ethic (which he has) and more experience why wouldnt he improve? to me that kind of potential is worth at least a late lottery pick? why pass on a kid who could become a top 5 PG  for a guy who willl be a servicable starter at best? wizardofoz says he is the next javaris crittenton? didnt this n!gg@ murder someone or something? peoplle out here have been calling wroten a bad person for years! i thought it was because he was a little cocky and peolpe dont like young kids that just exude confidence. he has never been in any trouble so i dont know where this bad rap comes from. anyway i think wrotens game is more suited for the NBA and when the season starts i think a lot of you guys will be jumping on his bandwagon quick.

Tony is by far the best the best prospect in this draft . he is a future hall of famer . while you riticule now only makes the story so much more grand . he has been number one in the nation since 5th grade until his junior yr he got hurt . 5 yr straight on an aau platform that yields players like gilcrest and many more . you think that is coincidence . when i said avery bradley would be the number 1 highschool prospect people laughed . he became number 1 , won the dunk contest and etc . Isaiah went 60th and is up for rookie of the yr . IT broke adam morrison 4 game scoring record in 3 with over 50 a game at state , the only reason im stating this is because Tony thrives in the envirement of elite . washington states prince is a big statement . check the pros . Tony was the first freshman to make all state in the state of washington among every body in the nba at a time when washington had a top 5 player in every class . Avery bradley number 1 , josh smith number 1 , peyton siva and abdul gaddy top 5 and TONY WROTEN JR number 1 !! And Tony was the best one , not to discredit anybody but it was true . PLEEEEAASE one person who is on this thread tell me they thought Isaiah Thomas would be up for rookie of the year . Wish i could have posted that last year . Would you think avery would start over RAY ALLEN lol something specials bout to happen . TONY will show inprove people . The 206 253 game is something insane and Tony may be the best one ….

      T-WILL , MAL CRAWFORD , B ROY , A BROOKS , RODNEY STUCKY , NATE ROB  , JASON TERRY , AVERY BRADLEY , ISAIAH THOMAS ETC

P.S EVEN SPENCE HAWES IS KILLING !! peace

Maybe if TWJr had signed with a big powerful agent his stock might be rising in the media:

Media =’s Medium =’s Hypnotizing Minds

Instead of guys like Chad Ford calling him a bad teammate & questioning his off court lifestyle & activities.

This kid is going to blow some people’s minds- for the good in Vegas……….

There’s alot of mis information going around about TWJr- coincidence?

TWJr is a top level athlete among NBA players- point blank.

This kid is a top 10 pick in my mind as his upside is crazy we’ll see where he goes in a couple of days from now but those Mocks saying that he won’t go in the 1st round are stuck on stupid rewind it and loop it………….

I like Wroten a lot to be honest with you, even if he is a combo guard.

I also heard that Wroten had the fastest time. Does that mean the Draft express measurements are wrong? I think they also got some of the heights wrong as well.

I don’t see any way this kid falls out of the top 20 on draft nite- I still think a Rubio & Wroten Jr backcourt would be off of the hook dimes galore!!

Lance Stephenson. Not becasue I think he’ll throw his old lady down the stairs, but because of their similar stats as freshmen in middling BCS leagues. Both shot 45%, mostly on drives to the hoop. Both shot terribly from 3 (22% for Lance, 16% for Wroten). Both shot poorly from the FT line. Both had Ast/TO ratios of 1:1. Wroten is much faster, while Lance is much stronger. Wroten had better stl numbers, but I would not call his defense solid. The final thing I will say is both players had people who thought they would be the next great "big point guard" and wouldn’t listen to anyone who said anything differently.

I think he can be good even without a great jumper. I know there 2 different players but look what Rondos and Tyreke Evans have done.
That being said he needs another year of college to develope.
