sheltwon3ParticipantThey ran into some weak East Conference teams and struggle yet pulled it off. They has run into an OKC team that for some reason forgot how they beat Spurs.
OKC will be a better team next year as will most of the NBA. The East will not be so beat down. Miami has another year to get better but they are limited to what they can do compared to other teams.
I always believe Lebron would get 1 or 2 rings and maybe at the most 4 but any more than that is wishful thinking.
Also if Spo play Lebron a lot of minutes in a full season, we will see how well that flies when the playoffs happen.
I also believe OKC has a chance because all the game were close and they rarely lose at home. Their toughest game will be Game 6 in Miami. Tonight they need to show up and drive more because if they get Miami’s home court love they will get plus 10 or free throws.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantLmfao!
LeBron haters, is this really your only counter now that the whole "He has no rings" argument may end?

Jlv2012until he wins at least 5 championships. Then I would possibly put him up in the category with Kobe and Jordan. Until then he’ll just be the supposed best player in the world who took almost 10 years to win one ring. However, he still has to win tonight and most likely he will choke.

KayjayParticipantFor anyone sounds a bit farfetched.
With that being said, do not diminish what this man may/or may not get. OKC might be going through what the Heat went through last year, except its Harden dissapearing. It happens, but you know what, credit the fact the Heats physical defense is totally different from west coast high scoring basketball. The Heat often shoot terrible percentages much like the Celtics do. So to combat that they make the opposing team shoot worse.
All in all this is a stupid topic. And yes Lebron was an idiot for his statement at that rally. We all know this, but get over it. Most players can’t even make the finals, he’s now done it 3 times in his career. Stop the hate and move on.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 11:51am #685314
SpacegrassParticipantThe Heat need to take care of business tonight because the pressure of going back to OKC for game 6 is not something I would want to take my chances with. If it goes back to OKC the Thunder would have a 50/50 shot despite being down 3-2.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI think that if the Heat can close this out then they will ride that momentum and be favorites next year too.
If they could get back to back that would give him two NBA Heatles (Heat titles) at the age of 28. 6 would be a long way off,
but even if Wade declines they could still sign some big free agent types who want to win a ring. I think Nash could come and give them 3 or 4 good years. He and LeBron could be the new Stockton and Malone. NWO Nash could help LeBron win 2 or 3 more rings. At some point LBJ/Bosh might have to retool and replace Wade, Battier, and Haslem, but I wouldn’t write off a supreme talent like LeBron until he is in his mid-40’s.
Jordan won his first title in his 7th year. James is already in his 9th year. But LeBron is only 27 as was MJ when he won his first title.
So LBJ is basically on pace even though it may not feel like it. Also, MJ missed two years of his prime basically due to retirement. Then he took another retirement after the 1998 title. If LeBron can stay healthy and stay away from minor league baseball then he could get six rings. All time number one player ever? In a few from now we might just say that Bill Russell was the best winner ever, Jordan the greatest ever, Magic the most electric ever, and LeBron the most COMPLETE player ever.

sheltwon3ParticipantHaters wow. I actually like Lebron but I think people are going overboard thinking he can win 6 or 7 rings now. I knew I would get negs and I am not tripping but a year ago people felt he would never win and now he can win like 6 or 7. I have said from the beginning I thought he could win 4 rings. I say that because the Heat are not properly put together and rely on two players for the majority of their production. This same thing is hurting OKC but they have been able to do it because they are younger and quicker. Wade is already up their and Bosh is a big man that does not post. I don’t see how it would take another team 3 years to figure out how to stop them. Lebron got his five rings with basically two different teams. If Lebron gets his now, he will be behind the curve, and would need to basically ride the bench of the right team to get the rest to get 5 or 6.
If you want to label me a hater because I bring up fact instead of pipe dream than do that. That is a immature way to debate someone because you have not legit argument especially since I said he should get at least 4 rings but mathematically given all the variables, it does not seem possible.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantBut I can’t sit and here and say the man doesn’t deserve the up most respect…He’s been the best overall player in the NBA for the last 2 years and Now he has the chance to silience the critics
although he’ll always have his fans and haters, hell I was/am/will be/hate being/will likely always be a Huge Lebron James Hater…But yes we all need to eat some humble pie and give the man his due…He may not have 4, or 5, or 6 rings like they gloated about LAST YEAR but dammit he sure could get 1 Tonight…And sometimes 1 Championship is all you need right Kg, Dirk, Charles Barkely, Stockton and Malone??? All for different reasons but hey, ask them if 1 ring is worth all the hard work and critism…
I am of course still rooting for the under dog in This series and hope OKC can push this to a Game 6…If the they can get back to OKC and put the Heat in another must Win sitiuation who knows, we could see another Epic Lebron James collapse?
But I am highly doubtful and I’m getting ready for the fair weather fans of The Heat to spam the Facebook/Nbadraft/Espn social sites…
What sucks is those fans don’t truely deserve It, sure some do, and the ones that have been there from day 1 will know who they are…

sheltwon3ParticipantAlso game 6 is in Miami unless something changed that I am not aware of. If OKC going with the 2 3 2 format.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 12:14pm #685329

sheltwon3ParticipantMemphis where does Miami get the money to sign Nash. Also even it that would make them favorite to win it all, Dallas who were favorites this year did not make it out of the first round.
If you look at what happened in the East, how can you seriously believe that those other team don’t believe they can beat Miami. If Orlando and Chicago would have been healthy, we could be looking at a different scenario.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 12:17pm #685338

mikeyvthedonParticipantHe has a chance to win ONE. Lets take it one at a time please, I do not know where this suddenly came from. Of course winning this year doesn’t mean he will win 5 rings, it just means he finally has gotten a rather bloated albatross off of his back.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 12:18pm #685332

sheltwon3ParticipantPulse dont lie you are not sorry and It is your opinion that it is stupid because this topic was revelant without my post because people on radio and sport news are talking about him winning 7 rings and being better than Jordan.
One man’s opinion does not make fact. I do know that when it is all said and done I will be right and Lebron will not win more than 5 rings. I am going off of numbers and history. Whether people want to say Lebron is better than Jordan or now it not a concern of mind because that is all speculation. Lebron is more versatile but if you had to choose who you want with the ball in the last seconds, MJ would be the answer. MJ was feared. I am not even a MJ fan but I respect his game. I rooted against every time I saw him in the Finals.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 12:23pm #685337

sheltwon3ParticipantAt what point am I disrespecting Lebron. Lying to people about their chances is not hating. One man can not win titles by himself. The Heat team is not a multi championship team as currently constructed. They have gotten this far by a whole bunch of things working in their favor. It took teams a couple of years and they adjusted to Shaq and Kobe when both were pretty young. Lebron and Wade will not have that Luxury. They have teams breathing down their neck now and those teams are younger. If Miami can get a post player with thier big 3 than that changes stuff but who out there is going to take a pay cut to play with that team when they have the option of going to OKC or other places and possibly making more money with the same opportunity to win it all.

B-ball fanParticipantLeBron is younger right now than Jordan was when he won his first championship.
People need to give the guy a break. He has exceeded every reasonable expectation that was placed upon him before he entered the NBA. He doesn’t need to be Michael Jordan, although he has had more success in the NBA so far than Jordan had at the same age. It takes more than one player to win a championship, anyways.
I don’t like comparing players whose careers don’t overlap. They didn’t ever face the same exact competition. The game is MUCH different nowadays than it was in the ’90s. Hand checking rules make it easier to attack on the perimeter, but the relaxing of the zone defense rules allow defenses to double opposing players much easier and makes post scoring much more difficult. Team defensive strategies have changed dramatically, also. I would rather see LeBron compared to Kevin Durant and other players currently in the NBA than to a guy who currently owns the Charlotte Bobcats.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 12:46pm #685367
B-ball fanParticipantI feel like you would have said the same thing about Michael Jordan twenty years ago or Kobe Bryant ten years ago.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 12:56pm #685368

sheltwon3ParticipantMJ had a better team also it was easier to get players back then because the salary issues were different. You can not compare different eras without looking at all of that. Every year that Bulls had their second 3 peat, they grabbed a very talented player. Miami will not be able to do that. Also Bulls had maybe a few teams that could beat them and Miami has a lot of teams that can beat them now.
Hating would be if I said Lebron sucks. I don’t hate on any player but for some one to say that someone can do something that is not even realistic just because of one year is insane. Also a lot of this backing will change when OKC forces a game 6.
People will start thinking Lebron can choke when they lose tonight or either Heat are not that good of a team.
OKC is a team that can get hot and win 3 or 4 games easy. Ask Spurs.

Dale WorthingtonParticipant"Not 7…"
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 1:03pm #685374

sheltwon3ParticipantBBall what you feel is wrong. I thought Kobe should have won more rings because I thought he and Shaq would win more together. I was not a fan of MJ and 2 3peats was not something I could imagine at that time.
You are letting your emotions take away your logic in this discussion. The Lakers had a unstoppable inside out combo and they had role players that supported their strengths. Kobe even won two more rings with a Inside partner of Gasol, Bynum, and Odom. Miami has a lot of holes in that team. Dallas was the same way but Chandler erased a lot of those holes but when he left those holes returned.
This is not hate on Lebron but seriously you can not take the best playoff teams and stack them against Miami and Miami even looks close to competing. Lebron is just one player.
Wade and Bosh would not cover the depth and talent that some of the Bulls best teams had. The Suns team that lost to the Bulls were more talented and deeper than both of the teams in the Finals now. I can say the same about the Sonics team that the Bulls beat and the Utah Jazz team that the Bulls beat. I can also say the same thing about the Orlando team that Houston beat.

B-ball fanParticipantOK, I understand your point. It isn’t some given LeBron is just going to start winning championships every year. The fact that you phrased your point very negatively and made it sound like it was this big dis on LeBron did turn me off, though.
My point is that LeBron really isn’t any less likely to win 5 championships than anybody who has come before him. Much of the criticisms directed towards him for his failure to win could also have been directed towards Michael Jordan.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 1:30pm #685404
MoneyTeam6ParticipantBut I think he’ll win 3 rings before he retires
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 1:53pm #685418

sheltwon3ParticipantB ball, it was in response to fans that think because Lebron won this ring he will win 7 but you statement showed your bias. I have no bias toward Lebron. I actually predicted he would win a championship this year when he signed with Miami. I also did not feel he could win 6 or 7 and maybe if he is lucky he could win 5 because in this NBA, it is hard to win championships. Miami does have the pieces or overall depth of talent to do what Lakers or Bulls did. Also Bulls were under a different salary so getting that much talent would have to come through the draft or a great trade. Miami is not in the position to do either.
Reading is fundamental and I knew I would get negs but I don’t care.
I am more disappointed that no one could come up with a legit argument to why Lebron can actually win 7. I would have liked if they at least brought up scenarios where he could happen. People they could acquire. Trades that could work where they get a better piece. A move where they can get a low post threat . I got none of that and I realize you have fair weather fans who are now on Lebron’s jock because he may win one but probably would not have said anything if OKC was up 3-1.

B-ball fanParticipantYou say that I am biased, but you direct you’re statement directly at LeBron fans, and put yourself at the opposite end of the spectrum. You can’t now go back and say you’re the moderate one. Plus, you’re comments about the refs didn’t seem unbiased.
You have personally insulted posters who disagree with you, used strong emotional language, but accused everyone who disagrees with you’re premise as being biased or immature, and generally sounded absurd. No poster on here claimed LeBron would win seven championships; you seem to be manufacturing controversy where there is none.
I don’t know if you are getting sensitive when you see the negs on all your comments, but just relax. It is absurd to try to make blanket statements about the future in the way you have; that is why no one is agreeing with you.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 2:01pm #685426

sheltwon3ParticipantB ball the NBA was different then because I remember when people said Kobe could not win without Shaq. Those statements were foolish because every great player needs help. Kobe basically had to replace Shaq with Gasol and Bynum to pull it off or Gasol and Odom. I mean seriously he was not going to do it by himself and neither did MJ or any of the teams that have rings.
You took that as a slight to Lebron but at no point was it directed towards him. He was the person I brought up because his 3-1 lead over OKC has some people going crazy hyping him up to be more than who he is. Kobe had to win more rings and do more to get his status. Lebron has to do more to even be mentioned with those people.
When Lebron has 2 or 3 ring than you can do the comparisons. I mean we all know the numbers should be up there because he is a freak of nature but basketball is about applying your skills to win. The way they were losing games was because he was not the same player all game long. If that is the case those stats go out the window. I was actually glad he left Cleveland and I got negs for supporting Lebron but now because I speak the truth when all the people who hated Lebron because of that have mysteriously disappeared. Think about it, if those same people were present my comment with have plus marks.
My oppinion about him has not changed but everyone else I guess has.

SportsNinjaParticipantThat’s a lot of thumbs down for one thread. . .
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 3:06pm #685470

surveParticipantThere are no excuses, if you win you win, if you lose you lose. You can say Dallas got lucky last year…but was it really luck? This is the highest level, and this isnt a BCS game. These are 7 game series. The Heat lost to Dallas last year who wasnt even as strong as the Bulls team they beat in the East and perhaps not even the Celts from last year or this year. Most people thought the Heat were the better team…but they lost. No excuses, Dallas did not luck up, they earned it.
Either you win or you lost. Thats that. Lebron does not need 5 rings to cement his legacy. Its too hard for anyone to win that many now with everyone changing teams every 3 years. The one team I can say that has the best chance to win titles aside from Miami is OKC, because they have young humble guys who couldve went elsewhere for bigger purses but they focus on what is most important…playing basketball.
Ring total doesnt equal greatest. Everything is by circumstance.
This thread was ridiculous, for some reason I felt compelled to respond, not on the legitimacy of it…but because of just how trivial it is.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 5:12pm #685559

sheltwon3ParticipantIt looks like they will get their first one. OKC chose the wrong time to do the 2 3 2 format
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/21/2012 - 5:20pm #685565

sheltwon3ParticipantMy comment was toward heat and Lebron fans that felt that way but whatever and and I only has something to say the poster who did not read what I wrote because their response did not match up. I find it funny you said I was emotional because at the same time I was doing something else that had most of my attention but to each his own.
Also I will make sure to word everything I say correctly because I think I used one word and someone took it and ran with it without taking everything into context.
There is some luck involved if two of your biggest threat lose key players in a lock out shorten season. I am sorry but when events happen that totally change how things would have played out normally, I will say luck. Imagine if MJ got hurt one year and some team was able to beat the Bulls because of it. That team would have been lucky and most people would believe that. It would be obvious the better team did not win.
