Got bored and started playing with the Trade Machine.

    1) http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kfby7s2

Orlando gets Kendrick Perkins and Reggie Jackson.
Oklahoma City gets Jameer Nelson, Kyle O’Quinn, and Denvers 2014 1st

Why?  Reggie Jackson works great with what Hennigan is trying to put together and while Perkins will be a space eater for the next two years, he might give Vuc a bit of an attitude on the court.  Jackson and Oladipo in the back court together would be a nightmare for most teams to deal with while perserving the team emphasis youth.  On the flip side OKC dumps future salary and gets Jameer to run point off the bench for this year and then can part ways as he only has a team option for the following year, same with O’Quinn.  This will free up playing time for PJ3 and free up money to resign Thabo/another free agent or save it for an Lamb-Adams combo in the future. And with potentially 3 1st rounders they might get their next back up point guard in the draft.

    2) http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=krqlbud

Cleveland gets DeMar DeRozan and Nick Young.
Lakers get Anderson Varejao and Kyle Lowry.
Toronto gets Steve Nash, Dion Waiters, Chris Kaman, Cleveland’s 2014 2nd, and Lakers 2015 1st(Top8 protected).

Why?  Cleveland gets athletic scoring options at the wing positions and DeRozan’s contracts ends just in time for Irvings extension to kick in.  Lakers will reload with better talent at the point and cneter positions while still allowing for that next max player over the summer.  Lowry will be able to run D’Antoni’s system even with Kobe spending most of his time on the ball.  Toronto will finally get fan favorite Steve Nash back in the country along with a young sg in Dion who will play the beta dog to whichever alpha Toronto drafts in 2014.  This trade shouldn’t improve their record and thus won’t impact their chance to get newcomer Andrew Wiggins in the draft.

    3) http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mbkhyrz

Memphis gets Josh Smith and Gerald Wallace.
Boston gets Charlie Villanueva, Tayshaun Prince, Greg Monroe, and Memphis’ 2015 1st.
Detroit gets Zach Randolph and Jeff Green.

Why? Memphis would finally get some production out of the small forward postion and can play Smith next to Gasol as well.  Having Gerald wallace will add depth even if they have to deal with his terrible contract.  Boston takes the exprings of Charlie V and takes on Prince for the chance to resign Greg Monroe to pair with Rondo and their collection of future picks.  Detroit loses a lot of athletism at the 4 but picks it up at the 3 where Cheeks will be able to run a more balanced lineup with Drummond and Randolph in the paint and Jennings, Green, and Cauldwell-Pope feedings the bigs and attacking from the perimeter.  Green will be able to guard the 3 or the 4 most nights if they want to play small with Drummond at the 5.

Have been running this one through for a few weeks now.

Charlotte gets Thad Young, Evan Turner and Jason Richardson

OKC gets Spencer Hawes, Ben Gordon and Cody Zeller

Philadelphia gets Michael Kidd-Gilchrest, Serge Ibaka, Kendrick Perkins and Thabo Sefolosha

Why? Charlotte is desperate to field at least a playoff team. MJ might be the only person to consistantly get through and motivate Turner plus he might relate to the competativeness. Turner’s all around game (assists in particular) takes the pressure off Kemba Walker trying to be a distributor. Young’s stretch 4 game and ability to produce without plays being run for him would fit perfect in Charlotte and force Biyombo back to the bench for good. Richardson would also provide a player-coach for the young team. OKC is admittedly the hard sell here, but would get a still young stretch 5 that could also mentor Adams and Zeller. Further, Zeller and to a lesser degree Adams are more low post types that could compliment Hawes. OKC could run a true twin towers in addition to KD and Westbrook making for a challenging dynamic for opponents. Gordon is a proven scorer off the bench. BONUS: did I mention that both Charlotte and OKC save money and OKC gets 2 expiring contracts setting them up nicely for next years crop of FA’s if needed. Philadelphia gains losses and a lot of them while at the same time shifting the focus of the team to a much more defensive mindset (supposedly the regime’s preference). They still maintain at least a minor expiring contract and gain players that could be either building or future trade pieces.

Terrible trade idea.  Thabo and Ibaka are crucial to OKC’s identity. If they trade them they are suddenly a much worse defensive team (especially with Hawes).

The only team that woul do your trade is Philly because you have them making out like bandits. Charlotte and OKC get screwed.

Sorry but Orlando has no interest in trading away first round draft picks, ESPECIALLY in the 2014 draft. Perkins in no way fits the plan, and reggie jackson, while good, is not more exciting than possibly drafting smart or exum.

That’s why the denver pick(mid 20’s) not orlando’s pick(top 10) is included.  I agree with you Jackson wouldn’t be as intriguing as Smart or Exum but what if you had Jackson and could draft Wiggins or Randle with orlando’s pick?  Reggie Jackson + Wiggins/Randle seems better than Smart/Exum + Kyle Anderson.
