Lotto StudParticipantI know he does not have any experience as a coach, but just off the strength of him being a PG under coach K has to speak volumes for his knowledge of the game in a coaching aspect. What made him come to mind is that numerous Head Coaching jobs are available around the NCCA in D1 basketball. I am not saying he should start off as a head coach, but if someone gets the job at a school like Maryland, I think he should get a shot to be an assistant coach. If he were to go to a big school I could see a lot of top notch recruits be swayed to learn under him especially from the PG position.
Just a little something for you to ponder on about Jay Williams knowledge of the College game.

Im Your FatherParticipantHe has said that he isn’t ready to get into coaching yet. I think he enjoys being a broadcaster. I think if he ends up being an assistant anywhere it will probably be at Duke, but if that ends up happening it won’t be for a while.

D-Rose1ParticipantIm not saying whether or not Jay Williams would make it as a coach but it takes a lot more than knowledge of the game to be a good college basketball coach.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantSome people close to him have said Jay still thinks he has a chance to play in the NBA again….

speedevilhe can still play, but not every day. he mentioned that his knee swells up too much after playing. so his NBA career is over.

aamir543ParticipantYeah, he still has the talent and skill level, but his knees won’t let him play. Although it would be nice to see a contender in need of a guard to pick him up for the playoffs.

Lotto StudParticipantHe would be a good coach on a staff strictly for recruiting. Jay Williams is one of the most likable people who is around the HS/College ball scene.

NJHooper95ParticipantJay can be a head coach some day in college. I played against jay in aau and High School. He was always a smart and coachable player. Not to mention he played the toughest position at the highest level in college. He would make a great recruiter and at some point he can be the next Shaka Smart. Every player does not make a good coach, but Jay has potential to be an impactful coach someday if he is willing to put in the work.

Lotto StudParticipantI’m not even gonna front, I HATED Jay Williams while at Duke. The more & more I hear him speak, I fall in love with him & his personality even more than before & regret me even not liking him. I wish him the best.
