Lotto StudParticipantSurprise to me because of the turnaround they’ve had from the last few years.
I’m rolling with Memphis realistically speaking.

HaleParticipantI love my Memphis boys but you never know what you’re going to get with them. They can hang with anyone and also lose to anyone.

3 No Biases 3ParticipantUK
I’ve never seen a more individually talented team play as horrible as they do, but watch them actually not play like retards and upset Wichita State or somebody in the second round as an 8th seed…
I can’t picture it but thats why it would be a surprise…

ProudGrandpaParticipantI’m really surprised the Sun Devils aren’t a Top 25 team right now. Look at their three best players: you’ve got Jahii Carson, supposedly one of the nation’s best point guards. You’ve got Jermaine Marshall, a great scorer and wing with lots of range and experience from his years as a Penn State player. And you’ve got Jordan Bachynski, a 7’2" monster on both ends of the court. These three can take on any team in the country, in my opinion. They just need to avoid mental mistakes and they can make a run as an 8-10 seed.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantWisconsin – Green Bay would have been a prime candidate but unfortunately they croaked yesterday.
So I’ll take Louisiana Tech as a sleeper Sweet Sixteen team.
LT beat a legit top 25 Oklahoma in Oklahoma’s house. They also have one of the best playmaking PGs in the country in Kenneth Smith.
I could also see New Mexico State or UC – Santa Barbara pulling a 14/3 upset.
New Mexico State has major size down low, two fellows who can man the point, and they beat New Mexico in The Pit, no small feat indeed.
UC – Santa Barbara has the best big man in the country, at least statistically. His name is Alan Williams. He is 6’8, 280 and he averages 21.5 and 11.5. He leads all post players in PPG and is 3rd in RPG in the country. UCSB also beat Cal and would have probably beaten Colorado in Colorado’s gym but Williams was out.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantLet me take this thread in another direction and propose some more Tournament surprise teams:
Wichita State
Villanova
Wisconsin
Iowa State
Michigan
Creighton
I know what you’re thinking…
Dale, why’d you start taking meth?
I don’t take meth. The only supplement I take is magnesium.
I’m not talking about surprise teams who will rise to the occasion. I’m talking about surprise teams who will FAIL to meet expectations.
Teams projected to be anywhere from a 1 to a 3 seed who will win one or two games AT MOST.

XYRYXParticipantI have to go with Michigan. Like I said in another post I think Stauskas is a stud and Wakton Jr., McGary, GRIII and Stauskas are a though matchup and in top form over the next few weeks. Don’t be surprised if both GRIII who has lost some love from the press lately and Stauskas rise their mockdraft level. I may be wrong but I could very well see them going for an Elite Eight outcome if they concentrate on their strenghts and Stauskas and GRIII leading the way.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI don’t think that there is a FAVORITE going into the Tourney.
I would say Kansas would be one of the favorites if they win the Big 12 tournament. They have too much talent to go along with good coaching.
Duke or UNC should make a run. Not sure if both do, though.
The winner of the AAC (American) conference could end up being a surprise title contender. The AAC has five legit teams, with one possibly ending up in the Final Four.
A few things to look for:
Do Wichita State and Kansas end up in the same bracket? They could both be #1 seeds and a great Final Four matchup, but it would be interesting to see them play each other in a Midwest Regional Final or something. However, if they played in the South bracket in Memphis, I would probably go.
I am wondering if Kansas and Duke are put on opposite sides of the bracket for a potential Kansas vs. Duke title match featuring Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker. That would be a BIG game.
Kentucky vs. Memphis would also be an intriguing first or second round game.
If Florida wins the SEC tournament then I think they get the overall number one seed and end up playing in the South region with Wichita State getting the second overall top seed playing in the Midwest Region. I could see Duke as a 2 seed in the South with Kansas getting a 2 seed in the Midwest.
The #1 seed in the East looks like a toss up. Could go to Villanova, Virginia, Louisville, or Syracuse. I think Syracuse will get it though if they win the ACC tournament.
#1 out West looks like Arizona at the moment. Could be the fourth #1 seed. But, they need to win their tournament. Otherwise, I think they would be a #2 seed out West, with the #1 seed possibly being the ACC tourney winner or the Big East tourney winner. Louisville out of the AAC also has a shot.
Michigan State and Ohio State are two teams "no one wants to play."
Tennessee is a team with some "pieces" who can put it together. The tournament should favor teams with size inside and guards on the outside. UT has both.
I wonder which Oklahoma State team will show up?
It’s hard to call a Memphis team a Cinderella team due to recent success under Coach Cal and this year under Pastner, but the Tigers are a team with potential. They could definitely make some noise and get to the second weekend. On a similar note, never sleep on Gonzaga. They have some good guards and a big oaf inside who can make life difficult. Yes, Gonzaga always busts my bracket, but you always have to take them seriously. If they get in the tournament, you should put them down for at least one win just to hedge your bets.
Kentucky is the WILD CARD team. As much talent and size as anyone. If they can get it going, they can get to the Final Four. This could be a season for Cinderella’s like Wichita State, but we could also see a Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, UNC/Syracuse/Louisville blue chip Final Four.

SpaceghostParticipantAny team with a few Seniors leading the way will be Surprise in this Tournament. Teams Like St Louis, or Iowa State (Ejim and Kane)Kane who in my opinion is a better player than Marcus Smart..ALSO watch out for HARVARD..they have a few ballers what will surprise. Why are some many people high on Memphis..Chris Crawford is a jacker..More Micheal Dixon less Chris Crawford..Wild Predictions..Kentucky will lose early and the Twin Brothers will fight everbody else on the team. Doug McBuckets will go for 50 and only one other teammate will score in the game..and I hate to say this but DUKE will lose their 2 round game and Jabari Parker will decide to stay at DUKE for another year. DAMN I hope im wrong about that.

After the game Patric Young will announce he is going not to the NBA but the WWE and form a Tag Team with Broc Lesner!0 - Posted on: Mon, 03/10/2014 - 8:14am #877974

JoeWolf1I wouldn’t want to run into Oklahoma State right now, their mid season slump is gonna result in them being an 8 or 9 seed, most likely, and Smart is as ferocious a competitor as anyone in the NCAA, plus they have Brown and Nash as complentaty players and a sharp shooter in Forte coming off the bench. They’re small inside, but I think they’ll be extremely dangerous.
