SamCarlsonParticipantWhat developments are you looking to see from young players (primarily out of the playoffs) as they finish out the season? A few things I want to see…
Will Jabari start shooting more threes? He was 4-16 in his short rookie season but Kidd seems to have limited what he is allowed to do. He is just now showing more scoring confidence and hit his first three 2 games ago in his 36pt explosion. Now sits at 1-10 on the season. Think he will make more than 4 or continue to focus on the mid range?
Does Hezonja establish that he should be the starting 3 going into next season? He hasnt gotten a ton of time with Skiles this year but with Fournier going down with injuries lately Mario has gotten the chance to start and play extended minutes. Do you think he continues to produce and earns the starting spot going into year 2? Fournier is a nice player but Marios ceiling in clearly higher with more size and athleticism
Love some answers to my Qs and some Qs of your own that you are watching

daggers818ParticipantI’m also interested to see what Hezonja does. I think it’s gonna be hard to keep this kid back once he gets playing time. Good problem to have with Fournier headed to free agency.
Really interested in the last 20 games of the year for the young Lakers. Kobe has been ailing so they’ve been going with Russell, Clarkson, Brown, Randle, and Hibbert as starters with Nance off the bench. Since then, Russell has flourished, perhaps not coincidentally along with the scrapping of Scott’s horrible offense. The games have been way more competititve (they still suck though) and one can see the potential for this young group to grow together. Let’s see what they can do here at the end.
(Conspiracy theory: Maybe the front office now thinks they have their tank position secured at 2nd worst and feel comfortable now to take the shackles off and let the kids play?).

SamCarlsonParticipantThey for sure play more confortable without Kobe on the floor. Randle needs to develop a consistent midrange J to take full advantage of his face up game, Russell just has a great feel for the game, and I have heard Clarkson will be a good sixth man but I really think he can be a starter and 4th scorer kind of guy

festar35ParticipantMyles Turner – I want to see him make a more concentrated effort on the boards and also see if he starts taking a couple more 3 pointers. Against the Bucks last night there was a play which resulted in a 3 pointer from the wing which is the first time I’ve seen that and it dropped as well.
Mudiay and Russell – Both PG’s have been scoring quite well, I really want to see how both of them go from here.
Orlando Magic – Young team and I really want to see Gordon and Hezonja develop next to Vucevic and become a 3 headed monster.

Prime TimeParticipantI’ve been a Hezonja fan for awhile. I was at the Magic-Bulls game, and came away even more impressed.
Early on in the season, Skiles limited his minutes. The claim is that he wanted Hezonja to really hone in on the defensive end and become a two-way player, which he is totally capable of. However, when given minutes, he produces.
Mario put up a quiet 21 points yesterday. His confidence is real, he’s not afraid to take shots, go to the hole, and he doesn’t back down on defense. He also made a couple really nice passes against the Bulls. I feel like he’s on the path to becoming a star as long as his minutes stay consistent. There’s not really much on the court that he can’t do. It was nice to see that as he got it going yesterday, the Magic started running some plays for him. He forms a nice little inside-out combo with Vucevic.
