It’s a montage of all the James Harden defensive lapses from this season…It’s over 11 and a half minutes of consistent and pure defensive incompetency…I never thought he was a good defender, but I never imagined his effort and wherewithal was this pathetic…Please enjoy. And it might make you question him a little bit going forward after seeing the lack of pride he takes on D.

He can score but on a championship level team he’s 2nd/3rd option at best.
We all remember his disappearance in the Finals that year.
He was content being third fiddle in OKC.

  Yeah, sorry I can’t agree with that. First off, he was NOT content being the 3rd fiddle. That’s part of the reason he was traded because he told the OKC front office his desire WAS to be "the man" somewhere else (the other reason being a financial problem with Durant and Westbrook being scorers with max deals coming and the front office having faith in Ibaka, Perkins, etc). Also, how many years in the league was that for Harden? Was that his 2nd year in the league? I don’t know if almost any player in the NBA except for maybe Magic Johnson’s rookie season can a player be expected to perform in the NBA Finals in his 2nd year in the league as well as he could perform when he enters his prime (year 7, maybe).

When he tries to play defense he completely disappears offensively. Look back at the Thunder HEAT series when he was guarding Wade and LeBron for 40 minutes. He played decent defense, but his offense was the worst it’s ever been. Scoring has gotten him paid and has allowed many to believe he is the best 2 guard in the league so he just completely quit trying.

Skipp Bayless has a man Crush on James Harden. Every single time his name is brought up he’ll say thats my man, he is the most clutch player in the NBA. Some basketball fans only see one side of the court.

He actually made some really nice defensive plays last game. His focus clearly runs hot and cold. That video is hilarious, though. Extraordinary offensive player, but his attitude on the court tends to be much too casual.

Harden is a beast. Trade him to the Pistons I won’t mind one bit. You could make a montage of plenty of good NBA players who take plays off on defense. So many people love Andre Drummond, including me, but he take plays off on defense during games all of the time. He loses track of his man constantly and he doesn’t expend nearly the amount of energy that Harden does running an entire offense. Drummond is just an example from my favorite NBA team but I could say the same thing about numerous NBA players.
I agree it’s sad to see such a great basketball player lack intensity on defense but let’s remember that Harden expends as much or more energy on the offensive end as anyone in the league. How many players in the league have to be their teams primary ballhandler, playmaker, and scorer like Harden does? Harden is an elite player, he changed the fate of the Rockets franchise. There is no doubt who anyone on that team would vote as their most valuable player.
