druneave3ParticipantFinancial flexibility in yet another probable free agent blunder by the Bulls. Love will end up in Boston. Melo will keep his $125 million in NYC. Mirotic also stays put.

tidhoParticipantA lot of words in this article to say this:
"Those multiple picks are a limited swap, a conditional Sacramento first-rounder and two Portland seconds"
For those still not keeping up, the Cavaliers gave up quantity rather than quality, and there is no way any of the above can turn into a lottery pick. The limited swap option only applies in 2015 and then only if the Cavaliers make the playoffs. The Kings pick can only be transferred if the Kings get good, and the Portland picks are going to be 50+ overall.

jonus grumbyParticipantI would like to see a Chicago writer describe how this benefitted the Bulls. I get the financial flexibility that druneave3 mentioned. But what are they going to do with that flexibility?? I get staying under the luxery cap but the Bulls have been drawing crowds and making money like few in the NBA so staying under the cap in a slap in the face of the crowds who have been showing up at the United Center. Wouldn’t Dengs expiring contract give the Bulls more flexibility then they get by the trade? As mentioned maybe the Bulls will get a mid to late first but that is not worth a lot. They get a couple seconds. Well those will just be training camp guys who don’t make the roster. imo the Bulls just gave Deng away to stay under the luxery cap which as I mentioned is a slap in the face of the Bulls fans.

christebasParticipantIn the likely event you don’t want to read through this boring article I posted, here’s what remains of the Deng trade to Cleveland and what they owe Chicago:
1. In 2015 Chicago has the right to swap first round picks with the Cavs (top 14 protected), so Chicago can ONLY swap if the Cavs are picking 15 or higher and have a worse record than Chicago. This expires after the 2015 draft if not exercised.
2. Chicago receives Portland’s second round picks for 2015 and 2016 from Cleveland aquired in 2013
3. Chicago receives a ‘conditional’ first round pick from Sacramento (aquired by Cleveland in the Hickson/Caspi trade in 2011) protected top 10 in 2014, protected top 12 in 2015-17. If this pick is not exercised by Chicago by 2017, it turns into a second rounder in 2017 (also protected 56-60). If no pick is conveyed by 2017, Chicago gets nothing.
enjoy…
PS good luck putting this into the trade tracker whoever does it for nbadraft.net because I will be sending it to you with links 🙂
