AdamJCallejaParticipantIn just limited preseason minutes, man has it been a joy to watch the glimpses of greatness in Joel Embiid. There were times against the Pistons that he was just too big and too skilled for Drummond. He just has so much confidence in his post game & I love that. He’s willing to attempt moves similar to Hakeem, he still needs to do a better job reading his defender and getting stronger but these are his first glimpses of NBA action. There were times these past couple season where I completely forgot about Embiid when thinking of young talent but now that he’s officially on the floor he may have the largest upside of any young player in the NBA. Greatness awaits Joel Embiid. I pray to God he stays healthy.

Anton123ParticipantI have decided to dislike Joel Embiid, I’m not sure why, but I am not fond of him. Yes, he’s super talented, yes, I’d be happy if he was on my team, and yes, it is extremely exciting to see what he’ll become. However, I don’t find him likeable and will criticise him just for that.
First of all, damn, the guy tries to score every time he touches the ball. 42 shot attempts in 85 minutes? Damn, and you’re shooting just 42% from the field.
Secondly, here are some nice Per 36 stats: 6.8 TOPG, 6 FPG and ZERO assists in 6 games! Damn, son! Who cares about 26.2 PPG and 14 RPG, that’s an inefficient turnover prone ball-hog I see!
Now, this is extremely stupid and I shouldn’t be doing it, but I find it very enjoyable. I know Embiid has terrific potential and he is playing after two years of no basketball, who cares, he sucks! Sorry.

TheMOSTHATEDoneParticipantI believe your opinion is very flawed, the guy is just rusty, he hasnt played since College.
And if you read NBA articles, you will find his usage rate is so high because the coaching staff wants it this way during the pre-season, i can not call him a ballhog without reading the team strategy, hes surrounded with very poor perimeter talent.
Also on turnovers and FG% we can add his rustiness and high usage rate ( coaches fault not his) call me an optimist, but i think he will be a great player.

Anton123ParticipantDo you believe my completely subjective opinion that I myself called stupid but fun is flawed? That there’s a bold statement.

JDB12ParticipantI think it’s a bit ridiculous to be so critical when he’s only played basketball for 5 out of the 22 years of his life, and he’s been injured for 2 of those 5 years. The dude is still raw and is has a younger basketball mind than his peers.

sa124mvpParticipantHe has a good test first up against Steven Adams at Philly. It is the first game of what should be Adam’s breakout year, and it will be the first look at Joel Embiid against a top defender at the center position. It should give a minor indication of where he lies at the moment, and will be a very interesting, bruising matchup none the less.

HitsterParticipantEmbiid has played 70 odd minutes in two and a half years, it’s great that he is getting a run of games and staying sound but I think we need to hold judgement on him a bit. I’ve been impressed with his scoring but he is still looking a bit rusty and is only 22 with very limited court time in his career.
I’m a big fan of the guy but want to be realistic about him this season, I just want him to stay sound and play as many games as Philly want him too.

omphalosParticipantWords cannot describe how much I loved Embiid as a prospect in 2014. He had seemingly limitless potential, no bad habits, an ideal frame and outstanding timing when contesting shots.
I really hope he puts together a run of good health, he’s such a sponge for information and experience that he’s going to be really good, really fast and Simmons will have to take a back seat to the Embiid machine when he eventually returns.

wonzi_bellsParticipantThe New Mexico game through the first Baylor game that year was the most fun I ever got out of watching a prospect. Everything he did was awesome, even getting techs and getting kick out of a game was great.

OhCanada-ParticipantPost of the year by Anton. I thoroughly enjoyed reading that. During Wades rookie campaign he was my favourite player out of that legendary draft class. By the time he won a championship I couldnt stand him. Same with Embiid. Before Kansas recruited him I loved him. Then the spotlights hit him and I couldnt stand him.
I must say though now that he is playing again as a basketball fan I love watching it. I hope he stays healthy but he kind of is awkward.

HitsterParticipantThere was such hype around Embiid in the draft process, he had overtaken Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins on a load of mock drafts before his injury and since then we have been waiting for him to get sound. We’ve seen clips of him draining 3’s in practice which few guys not named Dirk of his size do. Like when Greg Oden was out we just wanted to see this much hyped guy on court and see what he can do.
He achieved another small but quite significant milestone a couple of nights back, getting 20 minutes on court which made the rumoured target of 24mpg by opening night look realistic.

NBAjunkie81Participantpredraft prospect vidoes of Embiid – it was outrageous a kid that inexperienced playing Basketball
It was hard to not to go completely over-board b/c Embiid was improving by leaps & bounds at Kansas
Embiid’s per 100 possession stats at Kansas were Jaw – dropping: 28.2 ppg 20.5 reb 6.5 blocks & 62.6% FG% – those are crazy averages
The only negative Draft Xpress listed was "needs to bulk up a bity so he’s not pushed around at the NBA level. He was 7’0” 250 lbs & he’s 7’2” 275 lbs now & he looks yoked – If Embiid stays healthy the 76ers really have something special

HitsterParticipantHis scoring potential looks huge over the last few pre-season games, if he can take that sort of level to 30mpg in due course he could be near the top of frontcourt scoring averages.
