The Hawks’ roster is crippled by injuries, especially their front court, so they’re signing their second round pick. Muscala was playing really well in Spain in the toughest european national league. I was really high on him last year and hoped he could get a late first round pick, but he went to the second round and was one of the guys I had as potential steals. He’s a polished and smart player, so he could be a good fit in Budenholzer’s system and he could also find some playing time immediately, since the Hawks have only 3 bigs available right now, Elton Brand, Mike Scott and Dexter Pittman and they’re playing ultra small starting lineups with Elton Brand at 5 and DeMarre Carroll at 4.

Mr. HookShotParticipantConsidering he was averaging close to 15 pts, 8 rbs and 1 block per game (with high percentages FG and FT) he might have a real impact on the Hawks. I read he was named DPOY during his college career, but leading up the draft people where talking about his polished offensive game (even stating he could play the stretch 4). Can he make a defensive impact?

King CaluchaParticipantI was really high on him before the draft. I really thought someone in the late 1st would take a chance on him. He reminds me a little of Vucevic with better D but less range.

JaeEvolutionParticipantHe’s not strong enough yet to make a huge impact on D. His rebounding, low post offense, mid range J and passing will be a huge plus though. Given Mike Scott’s developement I don’t think it’s far fetched to think Muscala, who already has a pretty good mid range jumper, will extend his range to the three point line eventually. Add about 10-15 lbs to his frame and I think you have an incredibly valuable player down the road.

JoeWolf1Muscala can play. He needs to continue to work on his strength, but now that he has some pro experience under his belt, I think he’s a guy who can step right in and play for Atlanta. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in the league to stay. I always thought he had 10 year pro backup written all over him.

you would of thought they would cut a guard or wing.
