d-grizzlyParticipantIf i was the gm, i would be looking to have the guy gone on draftnight…especially in this upcoming draft.
why i believe randolph could be traded –
*after the end of the 09-10 season ends, he’ll have 1 year left on his contract..roughly in the 15-16 million range i believe.
*he’s a big physical man underneathe.
*the grizz will have drafted a 4(PF) on drafnight 2010. the grizz will be fine with whoever they pick at the 4(PF) and arthur.

Michael.S.ParticipantThey can also take a PG if Conley doesn’t have a breakout year, or a SF considering Gay will probably leave because he is a FA next year.
And even if Randolph is an expiring contract, you still can’t get much for him, they got him for Q-Rich who was traded 4 times in 1 month.

d-grizzlyParticipanti was also thinkin, if the grizz can get cap space through the trade, it’d be enough to keep gay and aim for a nice Free agent

MagikKnickParticipantCould they have aimed for a nice FA before aquiring Z-Bo? I mean…they were rumored to be linked to Andre Miller, David Lee, and Paul Milsap…but damaged there cap space by acquiring him..
correct me if im wrong here…

quincey hodgesor they could just keep him since he is a very good rebounder and offensive player..he also hasnt had many if any issues since leaving portland..one thing people forget about when they say he doesnt pass is that on most if not ll the teams he really had no one to pass to. i think ya’ll will see a different zbo this year since he has more weapons around him. there are zero pf in the 2010 draft who would average 20-10 in the first couple of years if ever

Michael.S.ParticipantYes true, but as i been saying all summer, i think Gay will explode this year and finally play to his potential, which will have other team’s going hard to get him, if the money is right, and it’s a bigger stage he MIGHT leave.

Michael.S.ParticipantWhoa Quincy i have to disagree there, there are about 5 legit PF’s that have the potential to be franchise players, it’s an extremely deep draft , ecpecially at PF.

d-grizzlyParticipantmagknick, yes, they were aiming for them instead. heisely decided instead of giving a long expensive contract, that aquiring randolph for a quick 1-2 years was the better option. yes randolph hurt the cap space a lot, but i’m saying if they trade him on draft night, and actually clear space through the trade, it would allow them to give gay his contract and aim through the Free agent summer.
quincy – the grizz have been going young. they off’d pau to go young and save money. To me, i believe randolph is a quickfix. whether he does good or not, i would like to see the grizz continue to go young. conely, mayo, gay, (2010 draft pick) and gasol as their young starters. though there might or might not be any PF’s to average 20/10 in this next draft, that’s fine, but the grizzlies need to continue their push at going young and gelling.
they could eventually get meshed together and will be experienced enough to go deep in the playoffs in 2011-2012.

quincey hodgesyeah all that is a matter of opinion..in my opinion there re some that could possibly get to that stage but none that will do it in the first year or 2

quincey hodgesgoing young is good forawhile but eventually you need to add some vets..going young all the time has never won a team a title. personally i think zbo will be a good fit since it will be awhile before the griz are considered to be even a western conference title team. they need to try to use the celtics or lakers model and mix youth with vets

d-grizzlyParticipanti agree that in the first year or two, these 4’s won’t be averaging 20/10.
But i still stick to the grizz going for a 4 in the draft, and getting rid of randolph, and give gay the contract that he couldn’t refuse, and hopefuly get a nice FA.

d-grizzlyParticipantportland went young if you think about it. roy/aldridge/oden with a butt-load of young players on the bench. they do have vets in the vanilla gorilla and blake.

Michael.S.ParticipantNo rookie really gets 20, 10 their first year, it wouldn’t matter for the Griz cause there building for the future anyways . So the can wait.

d-grizzlyParticipantthanks for your outstanding opinion on the matter at hand kdr…………
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/31/2009 - 1:58pm #208403

d-grizzlyParticipantyour opinion is an opinion. especially yours. where i’m gonna make you look like a jacka$$ for taking a stupid fu*kin stab at the grizzlies, is because memphis was 24-58, and okc was 23-59 last year. so, judging by your name, you’re an okc fan right? next, since the grizz had a better record, does that mean okc sucks and no one would want to stay there? come on dude, start thinking before talkin sh!t and makin a fool of yourself.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/31/2009 - 2:57pm #208422
jeff416ParticipantOKC is boring who would want to play there they should of stayed in Seattle. And you cant be talking about any team being bad espeacily since Memphis had a better record than OKC and they have a better core. And atleast Memphis can keep there star player because when KD is a FA he will be gone.

quincey hodgesso thats youre arguement?..okc is boring so the players wont stay?..sorry but thats not gonna cut it especially given the fact that they travel alot dont have to stay there during the off season and they are in the nba they will make fun. also if youre point was correct then oklahoma’s football and basketball teams wouldnt get good recruits. miami basketball would be alot better as well as st johns

grizz_fan7Participantya rudy is not leaving, he already said he wants to stay, he is also a RESTRICTED FA plus the FO loves him

marcusfizer21ParticipantZ-Bo is a cancer but his skills can help a team out in one way or the other… The Grizzlies is a team to watch out for in the next 2 years… But right now, they have to gain a year of experience to be better… They have signs of growth and I am pretty impressed on what they have done this summer…
