Is it me or ever since the Big East dissolved, the powers of college bball have also gone too?Kansas, Carolina, Syracuse, UConn, Michigan State, Louisville, Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Georgetown, Duke, and UCLA are all teams this year, that I’m not even sure could handily beat a team that is somewhere between 3rd-5th of a pretty average conference, like a Colorado State. I watch Duke and I see a team sorely in need of a PG and a big, I see Carolina and I see a team forced into a playing style that I’m not so sure fits the personal. Then Kansas is the Selden and Ellis show. Both just gunning for the league and clearly kinda looks like Self can’t stop them from doing their own thing. Then Michigan State really lacks in talent.

This is the first time I’ve seen someone call Selden a gun. The knock on Selden is that he dissapears for large stretches in big games.

KU will be championship contenders IF they have Greene and Diallo. IDK what Greene did to get suspended 6 games, but hopefully that ish gets cleared up before March. Just like last year, they need a tough forward to play next to the soft Ellis. Cliff was supposed to be that but was dissapointing. Diallo should do better in that role this year. Traylor is doing a nice job in that role, good enough to win the B12, but he is not good enough in that role for KU to be Final Four bound.

KU needs Greene’s shooting badly for their offense to work. Mason is more of a scorer, not a shooter. Selden isn’t consistant as a shooter. Graham is a good defender and solid slasher, but again, streaky shooter. I could easily see this team go 2-16 from 3 point land in any given game.

That is why they need Greene. It was also help if Svi ever got his shot going. He has all the potential in the world and is still young (18).

If KU has Diallo, they are a legit Championship Contender.

This season Selden has been doing his own thing. Go watch that MSU game and I’m pretty sure the game plan was not for him to get the ball and being out of control.

They are "my team" collegically. Mason took 3 more shots than Selden and Perry took 3 more than Mason (which he should of, he was the only one "on" that night).

At least 5 or 6 of Selden’s shots should belong to Greene. Greene only played 9 mins, which is way below how many he should be getting.

I’m not concerned with Seldon because he played great overseas this summer and once Greene serves his suspension and gets back his minutes, Seldon will be less out of control trying to make up for the wing points in the offense.

Ive seen a lot of hero ball between Selden and Ellis this current season and last year, so when things can be proven otherwise, I do feel that this could be a team that could consistently be upset.

They have Eron Harris who averaged 18 ppgs for West Virginia. Valentine is a double double threat every night and a consistant match up nightmare for any team in the country. Costello showed a much improved post game against KU. McQuaid is getting minutes early into his freshman year because Izzo finally has a 3 point shooter after getting by without a true shooter for so long. Deyonte Davis looks promising as an athletic 6’10 forward (if he isn’t tough now, he will be by half way through the season!).

Plus doesn’t MSU have a stacked recruiting class going right now as well?

Your view of "down" is clearly different from mine.

Yeah if McQuaid, starting lineup except Valentine is "talented", then we definitely disagree.

Talking about this current season lol

He has Costello and Shillings as vetern bigs. Do it all wing in Valentine. An 18 pt per game scorer from the B12 in Eron, two freshman shooters in McQuaid and Ahrens, a 6’10 athlete to bring off the bench in Davis and a Mateen Cleaves type PG in Tum Tum.

This could easily be turned into a final four team this year. Or are you just talking about NBA potential because there isn’t much here in terms of NBA status. In the college game though, this team is going to finish the season near the top of the rankings nationally and give Maryland a run for their money in the B10.

all i know is this: disregarding this current class… they havent had a top 17 recruiting class since 2012, and that was with Gary Harris who is long gone from the team. Eron Harris is solid but that’s one transfer who is currently kinda in the doghouse.

they have the #3 recruiting class for 2016, which could still very well be propelled higher to 1 or 2 depending on if josh jackson signs..

disregarding this current class is pretty well stated on the post you commented.

i didnt say they are a dead powerhouse, im just using this year as an example of how none of these teams are truly powerhouses this year. Duke will be back next season and they were a powerhouse last couple years.

Huh? maybe I’m just not understanding what you’re trying to say here, but hasn’t one of those "powerhouses" been the only teams to win a title since 2002? I mean only 4 teams have won a college championship since 1990 that aren’t one of those super power teams you mentioned.

Sure they aren’t as dominant as they might have been back them, but the game has evolved, and you’re seeing a huge influx of european talent coming over, and the entire culture of the one and done has changed so much from what college ball used to be. I think there is more parity in todays NCAA than there was 20 years ago, and we see this every year with teams like Geroge Mason, Flordia Gulf Coast, and so on. Teams are just getting better.
