RickyRubio9ParticipantI don’t know if this has been discussed before, but who is the better player? Who would you pick and Why? Tim Duncan or Mr. Shaquille O’ Neal
With Tim you are getting the most complete Forward-Center in a long time. Always on 1st Defensive Teams and All-Star teams. 4 Titles and 3 Finals MVPs, along with Rookie of the year, and League MVP
Shaq you get MVP of the league, 4 Championships, 3 Finals MVP, Multiple All-Stars, 6 Finals Appearances I believe, Possibly the most offensive dominant big man ever, a True Center, and one of the most entertaining Players in the NBA0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/21/2009 - 8:33pm #187302

FutureoftheGameAt this point in his thier careers, i would go with Duncan. His style of play will not decline that much. He is a very slow, fundamental player whereas Shaq uses is size and stregnth to get to the rim and dunk. He cant keep up with his team all year long and really has nothing other than a dunk and great passing vision.

aarondsonixfanParticipantMore dominant player? Shaq easily
More polished player? TimI think that when centers have to guard shaq, they say “oh crap” right before they go to sleep the night before…
With Tim, he’s not that intimidating of a guy, but he can still trick you in some ways.. when you think that he can’t shoot and back off of him, he hits a midrange j… and he has tricky posts moves instead of just a dropstep and a dunk…
So overall I think that Tim has more tools than Shaq does, but i’d much rather guard Tim than Shaq

KathleenTurnerOverdriveParticipantwith this one you have to take the most dominant one. never before in nba history was there such a gap between the leagues best player and it’s second best player as there was in the early 2000’s. the only other player who can claim to be the more dominant during his era is MJ

Chicago1980ParticipantI dont know if you can exactly say dominant what is dominant in basketball because in my opinion shaq has always been sort of a bully not really skilled just bigger and stronger than everyone else. give me duncan any day at least he hits free throws at 70% and he can hit a 15 foot jumper consistently and he also isnt lazy on defense.

JNixonParticipantIf they were both in their prime, I’d take Shaq and wouldnt think twice. Now, at this stage of their careers you have to go with Duncan

IndianaBasketballParticipantDuncan is a great player and has had a great career, but Shaq has been arguably (other than MJ) the most dominant force it’s ever seen. We’ll never see another center like Shaq.

mikeyvthedonParticipantNo one makes life as easy for his team mates as the Diesel. He always copmmands a double, he just breaks players down offensively, and in hios days he was a very hard player to score on. Timmy has had an amazing career and is a top 10 All-Time player in my book, but I think Shaq is top 5 and he always played inferior teams as a whole.
