JJ7ParticipantRenaro Sidney, Jarvis Varnado and John Riek. What the????? They will be a blocking machine and definitely a top 25 team. and all thos 3 guys could go first round Riek is the next Thabeet.
But my question is who will be the most dominant big man (power forward or center) in college next season?
Im going Ed Davis!

ball4life66ParticipantED Davis???? I know he’s got potential and he I know he play behind Hans and Thompson but he averaged 7 points and 7 rebounds a game. I seem him a solid player but I think he is way overhyped.

mikeyvthedonParticipantBut Craig Brackins might really tear it up next year. For guy his size, the guy has skills, very nice shot. I will go with Favors as probably tearing things up the most for freshman. Do not see there being any huge numbers guy tearing it up like Griffin did last year though.

Dexter Pitman – Texas0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/16/2009 - 3:24am #165479

delfamParticipantDavis is good, but he has to develop a right hand before he becomes dominant
Monroe has all the tools, but does he have the motor and killer instinct to be great
My choice is Derrick Favors, with him teaming up with Ganai Lawal, he’ll be single covered all game and destroy the ACC.

NYKnicksuperFanParticipantthat Greg Monroe finally realizes his potential and becomes the next great Georgetown big

gatorheelsParticipantI agree about Miss. St. I watched them play a lot last year and I have also seen Sidney play a couple times. I don’t know much about Riek but Miss. St. will be loaded. They have pretty good guards, very big athletic tall wing players who can shoot 3’s & slash, and of course one of the best frontcourts in the country. Miss. St. should be a top 15 team I would think.
As far as the best big man in the country next season…. I have to say DeMarcus Cousins…He will be a beast even as Freshman.

dwat4444ParticipantKeith Gallon of Oklahoma. Dudes huge and will dominate with Willie Warren, Crocker, and mason-griffin on the perimeter
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/16/2009 - 6:35am #165549
ckowalskiParticipantHe’s lost almost 100 pounds since he was a freshman at UT. He’s always going to be big, what else do you want him to do? Guy couldn’t run for 5 minutes his first season and now he can play 25 minutes and be effective. He just needs to work on not fouling.

4. craig brackins
5. luke harangody
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/16/2009 - 6:56am #165563
k-MileusParticipantCole could average 18 points 10 boards 4 blocks 3-5 assists next year. He is a beast on a loaded Ku roster.
P.s. Ku vs Uk champoinship next year!!
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/16/2009 - 7:05am #165569

torontoraptors10ParticipantEd Davis is not overhyped. This guy is the real deal. Sure he averaged 6ppg, 6rpg and 1.7bpg…. but look how many minutes he played.
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=36668
If Davis’ playing time is increased he’ll for sure be one of the best big men in college next year.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/16/2009 - 7:49am #165590
Stanford hoopsParticipanted davis is await a see player..i think hes overhyped also because he was surrounded by nba talent last year..this year we will see if hes really as good as some writers say..alto of people on here are nameing him mostly because other people and sports writers say hes gonna be good…john riek is a injury prone tall bum plain and simple..every camp he went to he got worked over…when he wasnt injuried
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/16/2009 - 8:16am #165600

birdman1113Participanti like Pittman i dont think hell score the most but he could be the most dominant big man next year.

0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/16/2009 - 11:18am #165727
WildDudeParticipantA few thoughts-
The mega recruits from Wake Forest who barely played last year… Ty Walker or Tony Woods
Former bluechipper who barely played at UCONN and now at KState- Curtis Kelly
Since USC essentially has nobody now they could get huge production from Alex Stephenson and the experience from NC has to help.
Samardo Samuels will be forced to step in and produce
those are just possibilities of who may surprise us but I rank it… In terms of production not NBA potential
1. Cole Aldrich- He had a great year last year and will improve with talent around him, much like Hansbrough did his junior year
2. Luke Harangody- He somehow puts up ridiculous numbers with lack of athleticsm.
3. Ed Davis- May struggle to stand out but will show he has the ability to produce at times.
4. Greg Monroe- the MAN now, no excuses
5. Solomon Alabi- could see a Thabeet-like improvement
I really like Patrick Patterson but he wont be as productive- as well as Demarcus Cousins and Daniel Orton

UNCrduParticipant^^^
you have the goat really high there, though his shooting ability and polished offensive game will help him.Greg Monroe was just an early bloomer in High School. He is a good passer, athletic and has a good “basketball IQ” but I just don’t think he will develop his offensive game to fit that Georgetown big man pedigree.
Derrick Favors to me is also more of a 3-4 player.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/17/2009 - 1:38am #166248

JNixonParticipantDerrick Favors is a big man, he isnt a wing player at all.

UconnHuskies15ParticipantTop 5 bigs for 2009- 2010 college.
1.) Cole Aldrich
2.) Greg Monroe
3.) Ed Davis
4.) Solomon Alabi
5.) Demarcus Cousins
Sleeper: Ater Majok if he plays college.

ckowalskiParticipantI dont think ed davis will stand out next year, north carolina has enough big men they can rotate in, Tyler Zeller, the Wear twins, Deon Thompson. He will struggle to get heavy minutes in a crowded frontcourt. I think Monroe, Pittman and Aldrich will be the best big men next year, in that order. Monroe was great last year and he can only improve. Pittman literally has nobody to compete with: Clint Chapman is not good enough and Matt Hill has been injured every year. Aldrich uses his body really well and I think he will be great for Kansas.

by the way, has everyone seen the video of Patrick Patterson picking his nose? hilarious. YouTube That Shit. He is also definitely in the conversation.

Stanford hoopsParticipanthave you watched derrick favors or seen some of his interviews???..he views his self as a 3 that plays 4 some of the time..even watching him you notice most of the times he catchs the ball at the free throw line and beyond..just cuz you want him to be a strickly 4 man doesnt mean he will be…..i see greg monroe as a pretty good big man next yera..15 rebounds is unrealistic though considering hes not that good of a rebounder

tbp82ParticipantIf we are talking college play or nba draft status
College Play
1.)Samardo Samuels-dude could be dominante like Tyler Hansbourgh dominate
2.)Greg Monroe-Skilled Cerebal player who could be like Duncan at Wake Forest if he works hard
3.)Cole Aldrich-could be best player on the best team so could be player of the year
4.)Patrick Patterson-will be the leader on a loaded Kentucky team
5.)Ed Davis-will step in and be the man for UNC next year.NBA Draft Status
1)Ed Davis-scouts fell in love with him during the tourney so he starts off at #1
2)Greg Monroe-all he has to do is show improvement and he will easily be in the #1 talk.
3.)Derrick Favors-Josh Smith type Forward has tremendous upside and scouts love that
4.)Cole Aldrich-7 foot center will be the best true Center prospect
5.)John Hensen-long lean Forward in the Chris Bosh mold. If he plays well at UNC he will be talked about as a top 5 pick.0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/19/2009 - 6:24am #168199
ckowalskiParticipantjohn wall, vasquez and henry as big men?

ball4life66ParticipantFavors is NOT a 3 and I’d say their’s 97% he won’t be in college 3-4 years.
