The Scare Crow RisesParticipantIm convinced Malik Monk is the best Shooter in the class and the fills the biggest need for the 76ers going forward
I know alot of people will say we need a Pg and Id argue that we dont really need to select a PG in this draft (barring we land a Top 3 pick amd take Fultz or Smith Jr.) but we absolutely need to add a starting SG with range and athleticism (Henderson is a great vet but we need a Star at Sg IMO)
Of course the dream scenario would be winning a Top 3 Lottery Pick and/or bumping the Lakers outside the Top 3 at the same time
Even if this doesnt happen, the 76ers are primed to add a Top 7 Pick and Im convinced Malik Monk should be the Guy if we dont end up with a Top 3 Pick and get "forced" to take Fultz or Smith Jr. 1 or 2 (Monk would still be in contention for the 3rd Overall pick if we ended up at 3 IMO)
Picture Ben Simmons hitting Monk on run out 3’s or Joel Embiid kicking it out of a double team to an open Malik Monk on the wing
I think Simmons starts his career off as PG/PF
Joel and Nerlens lock down the C spot
Robert Covington and hopefully Doug Mcdermott hold down the SF spot, RoCo had earned his spot with his stellar defense and ability to hit the 3 ball at a respectable rate
TJ and/or Sergio are fine backup PG’s in the NBA and Saric and Ilyasova can definitely split time at PF around Big Ben and Embiid/Noel
Adding Malik Monk at Sg longterm adds the missing piece, Im assuming Ben plays alot of PG so we dont "Need" to draft one in 17′
We could always sign a veteran PG in the offseason or draft One in 18′ (We will have several shots at Top flight PG prospects over the next few years thanks to LA tanking and Sacramento sucking balls, we’ll own LA’s pick out right next year and Sacramento’s in 19′ so Im sure we can add the PG we "need" by then)
In short, targeting Monk should be a Top Priority in 2017

r377ParticipantYes I agree. With Simmons as the playmaker they dont’ need a PG, they need shooters such as Malik Monk. Also keen to see Korkmaz play

SlickBouncePassParticipantare both really intriguing. Very possibly could be two guards set in our rotation for years.
I worry more about Korkmaz due to his thin frame and I’ve seen a lot of shooters with bounce like the kid in Orlando that haven’t panned out in the NBA. If this kid is anything like Manu I’d be happy.
So would Monk look nice, yeah…but he’s undersized. Booker and Murray both established themselves midseason so maybe not too bad of a pick if you are thinking how much of an impact will he have as a rookie. But he’s undersized and less strongly built and also less skilled than a Jamal Murray. Monk’s lack of effort on the defensive end is worrying too.
You think maybe Ntilinka who also is shooting 40% and can distribute and plays great D might be worth it at that spot too.
Too early to say Monk is the guy, but I think he’d be a nice fit with Simmons and Embiid. Then again, so will Luwawu and Korkmaz. Maybe Smith would be another incredible weapon to get into the paint and dish it out to the two shooting guards Luwawu and Korkmaz, can run the offense when Simmons isn’t there and can get his own points anytime, like a Fultzlite.
Maybe knowing that Korkmaz and Luwawu are going to be solid shooting guards, and Simmons your main distributor, you get a shut down wing defender who can finish at the rim and has a very high IQ, like a Josh Jackson.
I am with you on trading Jah over to Chicago for McDermott and/or a pick…
I just don’t see how confidently you are saying "Monk is the guy".

holefillers1ParticipantIts a great topic to debate. Sixers definitely need another shooter/scorer. I hope they take the best player for them. Drafting at seven won’t put pressure on them to select the prospect with the most upside.
I like Monk. I also agree that 76ers don’t need a ball dominant gaurd. Either way the main objective this off-season should be to upgrade at the gaurd and wing spots. Finding a player in free agency like Jrue Holiday would be perfect. Sixers have enough depth that no rookie in this draft will be ready to take over a starting spot. Signing a starter in FA will allow any rookie to develop for a year. The Sixers still have the option to move players via trade to solidify the bench.
One more thing. The Sixers need to start staggering these max contracts. Be smart with your money people.

HitsterParticipantThere have been as many topics about who the Sixers will draft or trade than they have won games in the last 3 years but I agree that Monk makes a lot of sense for them.
They certainly would benefit from a lights out shooter somewhere in the back court or at SF as it would immediately help spread the court and give Simmons options and the opposition defence would need to think outside of Embeast.
Until we know which picks exactly Philly get and where they will draft from, I’ll not really go into who will be the best fit for them.
