valentineContinuing with my popular "6 Worst" series, I thought it was time to shed light on the players who can, and will destory your franchise.
1) Deron Williams – Kills coaches and plays with minimum effort. Ran legendary coach Jerry Sloan out of town, in addition to Avery Johnson. His poor play with the Nets is not due to a lack of ability, but rather a lack of professionalism and effort.
2) Dwight Howard – Turned Orlando into a circus, then pushed for a trade to LA, which gave up a lot of assets to make it happen. Skips town after one season where he was out of shape, ultimately leading to an embarassing ejection in his final game. The Lakers haven’t been able to attract a decent Free Agent since….and you can thank D12 for that.
3) Lance Stephenson – Along with Roy Hibbert, de-railed the Pacers season and then went to Charlotte and was utterly unprofessional from the time he arrived. Can’t get along with anyone in the basketball industry and cant be relied upon on the court due to his eratic behaviour.
4) Josh Smith – This guy literally doesn’t care if he shoots 22% from 3pt Range. He’s going to take that shot…and he’s going to miss.
5) Enes Kanter – Simply does not pass the ball or play defense. Doesn’t care about anything except his own stats. Demands crazy money in Free Agency and departed Utah by saying he was grateful to go to OKC because it’s a "Clean City".
6) Nick Young – Cares way more about looking swag than being a good basketball player. Would rather lose, and score 20 than win and play good defense. Intentionally infuses a culture of slap-stick comedy anywhere he goes which is infectious in the entire organisation.
Who have I missed. Which player de-railed your franchise?

tuck243Participantfranchise "killers". You would think that they didn’t have any success on their previous or current teams. Deron Williams for example was always in the playoffs and once he left they became a lottery team.
Same with the Orlando. D12 was injured in LA and he went to Houston and they became a title contending team. I totally dislike D12, but franchise "killer"? For the record, the Lakers can’t land a free agent because they suck and still trying surround the team around Kobe. I predicted that D. Russell was going to be a great player during the Elite 24 game, BUT you don’t take him over Okafor. Players aren’t coming not because of D12, but because of that front office (& Kobe). If anything the situation with D12 should only make you side with him. They TRADED for him on his last contract year. He didn’t sign with them. Even with all that said, the Lakers brass AND fans treated him like crap the entire year. He was coming off back surgery. You could tell he wasn’t 100%… Don’t blame that on him…
Lance and the Pacers needed each other. This was evident by how last year panned out without Paul George. Also, the Hornets were a team that couldn’t spread the floor consistenly.

tuck243ParticipantI think "franchise killing" means they derail a team’s success.
The only player that fits that is Josh Smith most likely, but once his role changed then the impact to a team’s chemistry became non existent.
Andrew Bynum maybe? JR Smith depending if Henny is involved? There aren’t players in this league that I think disrupts a team that much.

SuperTerrificManParticipantI disagree with all the players on your list except maybe Deron. I dont thing any player in the NBA is really a ‘franchise killer’ more a product of the situations they have been in and put themselves in.
1) D-Will – His contract is the killer, could still be a decent contributor (maybe off the bench) if his contract wasn’t so big.
2) Dwight- I understand the hate on him by Laker fans and maybe Magic fans, he made some poor decisions during the Van Gundy debacle especially. Personally, I love the guy. He’s made a finals as the best player on his team and conference finals last year. Nuff said.
3)Lance – Entertainment, There arent enough characters in the NBA, He was good on the Pacers, had a shocker last year. There is still hope.
4)J.Smith – I don’t know how you can call this guy a franchise killer after his performances in the playoffs. Detroit was just a terrible situation from the start though.
5) Kanter- Dudes gotta learn to play D but I don’t know how he has killed any franchises, everybodys got their flaws.
6)Nick Young – had a great season 2 years ago, can score, gonna do some stupid stuff but its entertaining.

Rip255No-one ever agrees with my lists. That much is certain. They’re basically the lowest level of writing you can find about the nba on the internet….I get a good response rate though which encourages me to keep doing them.

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantYou can’t make a list like this and not have Carmelo Anthony somewhere on it.

BiggysmallsParticipantThe Dwight hate baffles me. Dude is at worst, the third best Center in the NBA. He’s hardly killing Houston. The Magic haven’t been good since he was traded from there and were a top 3 team in the East when he was in his prime.
Josh Smith has always been a role player. Detroit banked on him being THE guy…which he simply cannot be. He’s a swiss army knife player.
Deron Williams ankles are killing the Nets. He’s a shell of himself because he has about 25% the athleticism he had in Utah.
Lance and Young are clowns. I wouldn’t want either one on my team.
Don’t know enough about Kanter, though him "demanding" a trade was comical given he hasn’t done anything to establish himself as a player worthy of making demands.

Rip255The Melo "Snub" started a whole new thread because it was so controversial.
D.C. could be on the Mount Rushmore of Franchise Killers

rich.homie.mitchParticipantDwight is a top 5 center in this league. How is he a franchise killer at all? How is he killing Houston? They nearly made it to the Finals. Yes he left Magic in a bad position, but they weren’t adding players to help him out Turk was starting for that team. and wanted a change of scenery. Also he wasn’t out of shape in LA, he had back problems and LA didn’t rehab him right. He then comes down to Houston and puts up monter stat lines in his playoff perforamces against Portland, next year comes he helps put Houston to the Finals. He has been a top 3 center for about 9-10 years in the NBA. I don’t think he’s a franchise killer.
