RUDEBOY_ParticipantTeams have until November 1st to sign members of the 2007 draft to extensions ..If they don’t get resigned, the majority of them will become restricted free agents next summer..So far only 3 have been given extensions they are The Thunder’s Kevin Durant,Chicago’s Joakim Noah & Atlanta’s Al Horford..The upcoming Labor Negotiation, the economy, salary cap and revenue have teams sitting on their hands..
It’s going to be interesting to see if the TrailBlazers will give Greg Oden an extension..The number 1 overall pick has shown that he can be 1 of the 5 best centers in the league,if he is healthy..But he’s only played in 82 games in 3 years..If he stays healthy and post solid numbers can the Blazers afford to sign him if a team makes a huge offer?
Some players might get the Joe Alexander treatment and won’t have their option picked up at all..Allowing them to beome Unrestricted free agents..Here are a few players that might happen to..
1.Julian Wright-(drafted 13th) Wright have been a disappointment and New Orleans shipped him to the Raptors after he failed to improve his game..
2.Corey Brewer(drafted 7th) The T-Wolves drafted and brought in several guys this year that play his position..
3.Brandan Wright(drafted 8th) Wright was said to be the 3rd best player in the draft behind Durant & Oden. But he has dealed with several injuries and inconsistentcy..Plus the signing of allstar David Lee should make him expendable..
4.Yi Jianlian(drafted 6th) Jianlian displayed great all around skills at the World Games ..So far he’s been solid in the preseason averaging 10 points and 7 boards..But the Wizards need more scoring and assertiveness from him..
Players that must bring it this year…
1.Mike Conley (drafted 4) Even though Conley’s in a lineup with several scorers he averages only 4 assists a game…
2.Jeff Green(drafted 5) Green is a very good complimentary player,but he’s a poor rebounder..
3.Al Thorton(drafted 15) Needs to work on becoming a better ball handler, rebounder and shooter if he wants to become a full time starter….
4.Spencer Hawes(drafted 10) Can be a Beast 1 night..Then a Daisy the next night..Hawes must become more consistent…

durantula83ParticipantIMO Jeff Green doesn’t belong in this list. Poor rebounder? He averaged 6 a game last year and almost 7 a game 2 years ago, there are alot of small forwards in the league that do worse in that category. He was as vital to the success of the Thunder as Westbrook last year.

ChrischiParticipantYeah, but Green played most of his time on the PF spot. So for that position he is really a rather poor rebounder. But nontheless they have to resign him. Like you said he has an important rule in that team and played really well overall.

Thomas C.K.ParticipantJeff Green is clearly the best player out of all the guys mentioned, but OKC has got to be a bit hesitant to extend him. Last year, Russell Westbrook overtook J.Green as OKC’s 2nd best player(and one of the top PG’s in the NBA) while J.Green regressed a bit in his 3rd year. OKC may feel that Kevin Durant and R.Westbrook are the 2 main guys on their team and they can just bring in guys to build around them.

HitsterParticipantThe Thunder have good cap space with so many guys on rookie deals so they can take their time with Green as regards a new contract but the danger always is that he could have a real breakout year and then someone offers him a big deal next summer which the Thunder may have to match. I’d say he would be in the $40 million over 5 years range.
Memphis have Gasol, Z-Bo also expiring next summer so will probably wait on Conley as they have so many different options to consider.
Yi has not played a competitive NBA game for Washington yet so any offer cannot really be forthcoming. Hawes also on a new team will have to see how things play out.
I thought that Portland may have low balled Oden and possibly offered him a 3 year deal or a two year extension just to see if he might resign now. If he had a breakout year more than anyone then his value could rocket but with Paul Allen’s money they would probably match any offer made to him.
