MopgrassParticipantIt’s already pretty clear who the bottom dwellers of 2015-2016 are (on their way to Ben Simmons, etc.), but who will bottom out next year and be in the Josh Jackson, etc. sweepstakes?
It looks like the 76ers should be a lot better adding Joel Embiid, Dario Saric, one or maybe 2 top 5 picks, and some growth from their players. The Nets might lose Joe Johnson and owe this year’s draft pick to the Celtics (although the Celtics get to swap the 2016-2017 pick). The Pelicans might lose Eric Gordon, but they do have the Brow and maybe a top pick. The Lakers should be Kobe free (helpful) and their young trio should develope a little. But that’s all they’ve got, it’s been abysmal, and their pick is still top 3 protected (so they have reason to tank again).
So who is at the bottom for the 2016-2017 season?

Gold ChainSaric would be an idiot to come over next year. 4 years, 6 million total, vs waiting one more year and signing for 4 years, 40-80 million total.

SkalAndJamalParticipantI hate talking about the sixers, just feel like there’s a huge possibilty theres nothing to look forward too.
And what people dont realize is that every guy, including the talented young guys, want to leave. It’s a fact.

r377ParticipantIs this just another re-worded daily Sixers/Lakers thread ?
Saric will prob never even put a Sixers uniform on…..
Kings will be bad as usual, Knicks wont make the playoffs for the next few years.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantDenver has clearly entered a rebuilding phase and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they attempt to offload gallinari, faried or both at some point this season. I could easily see them being pretty bad record wise next season if that happens.

UncledrewParticipantThe Pelicans, Lakers and 76ers will be bottom feeders even next season all 3 just aren’t ready to compete for a variety of reasons that won’t be fixed by next year. In some order they should end up with the 1st 3 picks in the 2017 draft here’s the guys they should select.
1. Pelicans- Josh jackson. He’s what this team needs, a bonfide star on the wing. Yes they have tyreke but he’s inconsistent and his potential to carry this team is limited at this point. Gordon is probably gone after this year. Josh can lock up defensively right away and be a go to option right off the bat.
2. Lakers- Harry Giles. The Lakers passed on Jahlil Okafor which may have looked like a mistake given Okafor’s instant impact on offense however L.A snagged their point guard of the future in Russell. After they select Giles laker fans will quickly forget all about Okafor. Giles will bring KG like intensity on defense, as well as an inside presence on offense. He and russell would be a dynamic duo in LA.
3. 76ers- Hopefully the 76ers get a chance at Ben Simmons this year for their sake but if they don’t I think they get their guard of the future in Jamal murray. With Murray the 76ers will finally get a nba caliber guard along with Noel and Okafor inside the only thing there missing is Wing talent. That’s where they select Jayson Tatum. Tatum’s will take advantage of scoring oppurtunities on a team full of lackluster swingman. He won’t lead the sixers in scoring his first year but his scoring should consistently rise on a yearly basis for his first few in the league much like Gordon hayward has in Utah.

holefillers1ParticipantMurray is overrated and dropping in all mocks. He does not have a game that translates to tge NBA.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe NBA peaked again.
It’s all down hill from here.
I am (somewhat) joking.
The best bet for a destination team like the Lakers is to get guys in free agency. Same with New York and even Boston.
Philly is in trouble. More shallow drafts and THE GUYS they already drafted might not be THE GUYS. They might just be THE GUYS behind THE GUYS.
So, there are TWO or THREE difference makers in the next couple of drafts? I don’t like those odds…
If the Sixers give the Philadelphia Eagles win total a run for its money (5 wins), AND they miss out on the TOP PICK then they should be in FULL METAL VIDEO GAME PANIC MODE.

MatosParticipantNets, Sixers, Nuggets, Mavs (if its Dirk’s last year), Suns, Blazers (if they decided to put Lillard out of his misery)

thetruth87ParticipantI’m pretty sure the Celtics have the right to swap with the Nets next draft. They conceivably could get Simmons this year and Jackson next…. Unreal…

publius2481ParticipantI think Pelicans will improve simply because a team with Anthony Davis shouldn’t be this bad two years in a row. I also think we will see some life out of Philly, especially if they draft well (by life I mean 25-30 wins). My guess is the Nets and Lakers will be the two worst teams next year. They are both bad teams who either won’t (Nets) or may not (Lakers) get help from the draft. With the cap rising, what free agent will go to those teams? I would expect Philly to be the third worse team, but I would not be shocked if the Blazers began a massive selloff and began a complete rebuild.

markfitz14ParticipantI think the Pelicans will bounce back, Evans was out in the begining of the season. They will win more games now. And Holiday was on a minutes restrictin/knocking the rust off. They def need to find some other players who fit. Never understood signing of Asik, he hardly even plays after getting a new contract. Next year is to far away to many things can happen. Only can say the 76 ers will still be bad but they will be much improved since they will be making moves and trying to win/the NBA will prbly make them sign veterans. The Lakers will be near the bottom next year. Could sign some players in the offseason though or trade for veterans who knows. They will try hard to not be last again. The Nets will ofcourse throw huge money at anyone to try to win since they don’t even have there pick next year either.(Swap)

Memphis MadnessParticipantAD had a bump in scoring last year. Other than that his stats have been very similar the past 3 or 4 years. Maybe he is not a guy who can get you more than 24 or 25 a night (few can).
He really needs another superstar to help him out.
If not Ben Simmons, then a great pick and roll point guard. Then I think AD can take off again. For now, he is a bit grounded.
AD could also use either a rim protecting center or a stretch five next to him to help space things out, and to offer some weak side shot blocking help on defense.
