joe2324ParticipantHere is the quote:
Bring on the hate, little bit of a rant
“I’m not sure it’s just the NBA,” Sarver said. “My whole view of the millennial culture is that they have a tough time dealing with setbacks, and Markieff Morris is the perfect example. He had a setback with his brother in the offseason and he can’t seem to recover from it.
As someone who works with millennials, this dude is 100% correct. I think a lot of it has to do with the way millennials were raised. They’re raised to think they are perfect little angels that can do no wrong. When something doesn’t go there way as they get older, they freak out and don’t know how to handle it.
I know a lot of people will say you have to appreciate the differences in each generation, but honestly i’m not a fan. I’m not sure if its all the technology they grew up with, the pampering at school from teachers and mommy and daddy, but this generation is just off.
Let me give you an example of something I deal with day to day. Most millennials I work with will do whatever they can do avoid face to face meetings as they prefer to communicate through email and other forms of communication. I cannot tell you how much this @#$@# pisses me off, but its something you just have to deal with.
I’m not saying this as a bitter 60 year old, i’m saying this as a 35 year old who is not too far off from the millennials. The culture these kids grew up in though is vastly different than any other generation.
My generation and others are certainly not perfect, but I certainly do not get millennials at all and the generations that will come after them scare the @#$@#$ out of me because I feel they will be 15x more entitled, unable to deal with conflicts/setbacks, horrible communication skill etc…

Magic JordanParticipantBlame the parents not millenials. Sarvers generation raised the generation who raised millenials. They are all culpable.

TarHeelRavenParticipantI’m stunned that the Morris twins basically thought that they could play their entire career together. These twins going to the same school is great, Morris twins, Wear twins, Harrison twins I, but you can’t go your entire life playing with your twin brother. Grow up. I just can’t believe the level of immaturity shown by these guys. It’s a privilege to be an NBA player. If you want to act like a complete jackass, go find something else to do besides play basketball.

MopgrassParticipantPhoenix told Markief that Marcus wouldn’t be traded. Him expressing dismay over being lied to is perfectly reasonable (perhaps even publically). However, his demanding a trade and saying he wouldn’t come to training camp are embarrassingly unprofessional and childish. If he’s outright ditching games, he might pout his way out of the league.
The owner is either at wit’s end or doesn’t know when to stop talking. They could have covered up Markief’s antics, but instead, the owner further tanks Makief’s trade value even more. SMH.

losnopesosParticipantWhy would anyone want either Morris twin on their team? They are cancerous.

Hype MachineYeah I agree its true about facing setbacks…
But hard to blame the kids when an environment of extreme political correctness has distorted their reality and made it harder to accept raw truths.
As for the Morris twins…I dont think any of us could really relate to the separation anxiety faced…especialy when its a case of identicle twins that arent individual identities. Given how close their names are, I’d suspect this is the case. Like when you see 2 twins dressed exactly the same lol….how can you expect them not to struggle when they’re apart.

ballislyfe25ParticipantSpeaking as a millennial I think Robert Sarver is a salty billionaire who is obviously overgeneralizing an entire group of people.
I come from a strictly middle class area with friends and family who are wealthy and some struggling daily to get by. I’d like to see him say that to my millennial friends who have lost parents before they were even of legal age to drink or to those I know who didn’t go to college to work low-paying jobs and support their families. Or to my friends who were born into money and still busted their ass to get where they are.
Robert Sarver, take it deep!

doubledribblerParticipantThis whole Sarver thing sounds a lot like the "Thanks Obama." It is pretty ignorant to blame one person or an entire group for everything that is wrong. From what I gather there are a lot of generations with no interest in taking accountability for anything, but are more than willing to find someone to put the blame on. There are a lot of people complicit in the shape that things are in right now. Go meet the parents and grandparents of some of these people.
Sarver spent a lot of time sabatoging his whole team or does everyone forgot all of those picks that he used to sell? Things get bad for Sarver and he decides to blame an entire group of people for one person not being able to handle some setbacks. It sounds like the guy that made the post about Kendall Marshall’s dad and then proceeded to blame Kendall for comments that he didn’t have any responsibility for. A lot of bad moves have been made in that franchise while Sarver was the owner. When you run a business and the product isn’t up to par, that’s on the owner. If someone doesn’t fit the culture you get rid of them and cut your losses. 5 GMs and 5 coaches (going on 6) in 11 years sounds like a stability issue.

IlladelphParticipantWell, it’spopular to bash "the Millenials" and as a group I think they share some differences with the older generations for sure. Probably more entitled, and less likely to "grin and bear it", but remmeber this is the same group that produced Mark Zuckerberg, and a whole lot of other hard-working, bright, successful people. Is Ben Simmons a Millenial? It seems that every generation bashes other generations. Same ol’ story.
As far as Markieff, man you guys have got to be kind. Being apart from your twin is stressful stuff man! You have to remember that in Phoenix they lived in the same apartment, shared clothes, and I read that they even shared the same toothbrush. I also read that they even dated the same woman so that if one of them wanted to stay in and play xbox, the other one would take out the girlfriend to keep her happy. And all of that is now gone thanks to the mean Phoenix front office. Poor Millenial Markieff. Be kind guys, be kind.

IlladelphParticipantBy the way guys, my comments about Markieff and his brother sharing an apartment, clothes, a toothbrush, and a girlfriend are not true. That was made up for the purpose of humor. I thiught that would be obvious but apparently some people are not good with that brand of humor. So to clarify, I did not read anything about Markieff and his brother sharing anything other than playing time on the basketball court! Good day.
