Looks like Jimmy Butler was right all along. A lot of people thought he was a cancer, or at least not a good leader, nor a good fit in many locker rooms. He called out the LAZY Kat and Wiggins for not doing what it takes to win, Brett Brown didn’t want to deal with him so Brand chose Tobias Harris over him for the max. and a deal that Brand thought was fair brought in fairly equal talent on paper back to philly. It’s not all the jimmy butler effect but it primarily is. Look where Miami was pre butler= not in the playoffs. Look where Philly is post butler= swept by the same team the heat just beat (SANS Simmons). The only year the wolves made the playoffs post prime garnett? when jimmy butler played.

Stats don’t suggest it, but Butler is as Spo says a true franchise player who effects winning more than player normally deemed better. Butler is better than Kyrie. Paul George, KAT, Kemba, ect.. because he effects winning more.

Butler, clearly less talented, is one of a few people with Jordan mentality… he doesn’t accept losers, and losers wont like him as a teammate.

GM Jimmy has been right about everyone along the way. Right about Fred Hoiberg and the young Bulls he was with after they sent off Rose, Noah, Gibson, and Gasol were showed the exit. How do you trade Jimmy Butler for Zach LaVine, who still has one 30-win season on record? 30 wins is not exactly a high bar. Right about Andrew Wiggins and KAT being marshmallow men. I don’t know how anyone watched that Timberwolves team and thought they had to pay Andrew Wiggins before Jimmy Butler. Right about the lack of accountability and leadership in Philadelphia. They still have their top two players think that winning is going to be easy, because that is the natural end of the marketing scheme of the process. He is having his 2001 Allen Iverson moment. It is well deserved.

Jimmy Butler has always been a very driven player and is excellent at both ends of the court. He has found the perfect mix in Miami surrounded by a deep well drilled roster and has made this team over achieve really.

He may not be putting up mind blowing numbers but has proven he can lead a team into true contention which relatively few players can realistically claim to do. He was always an elite player but I maybe saw him more as a number 2 guy to top 8 or so NBA player when he is now challenging to be in that very top tier himself.

I bet the real top guys like say LBJ when asked who an ideal running mate would be would name someone like Jimmy at any time over the last few years.

crazy that most reports in the offseason indicated that Buter wanted to sign with the lakers on a max. Lakers couldv’e had butler instead of danny green and pope. If the lakers wouldv’e done this, they probaby would have been much better than they are… Lebron, Bradley, Butler, Davis, Mcgee,, the third star they need when Lebron sits..

A few years with LBJ’s swansong and Davis at his peak would have been very appealing to Butler giving him several runs at a title. They would have had their pick of vets too chasing a ring.

Imagine how good Duncan Robinson could be if he didn’t have to tape all those Progressive commercials with Flo in the offseason. Dudes is like a vampire!
