halfdecayedParticipantThis was my thought all season, and tonight Marc Stein reported via twitter that they are going to pursue Conley.. I think he would be a perfect fit for the Spurs.. A true underrated pro that would fit right in and would replace Parker.. I don’t know what’s the Spurs situation with the cash though.. Thoughts?

halfdecayedParticipantNo, but I meant replacing him as a starter, Parker has been declining, and it’s time to bring some young blood on that team.

bmac697ParticipantI first misunderstood but agreed. They have a good core in green Lenard and Aldridge. Conley would fit right in and his age fits the rest of the core. It would give them a solid 4 year window to win another championship.

bmac697Participanti agree I think Conley would be a good signing, I believe they have Parker for one more year so he could replace in the near future. I guess Parker would start coming off the bench?

tblazer_NZParticipantWhere would they send Parker? He has 2 more years on his deal @ $14.45 and $15.45

ZachAttackParticipant$14.45 is a steal!

tblazer_NZParticipantI was too late to alter the post. I knew some cheeky person would comment. Posters around here are smart enough to get the point.

SlickBouncePassParticipantDuncan was the difference maker, the oversized PF that could do it all, defend anyone, HOFer, Rock for a 5x champion franchise. I think Ginobli and Parker are great players in their own right, and I don’t necessarily think Conley comes close to how Parker contributed to those Spurs.
They weren’t "those Spurs" even with David Robinson. It was only with Duncan Parker Ginobli that this team got its true international pedigree and style of play.
Fact is, those 3 are gone soon. It was a pleasure to watch. Tim Duncan will be on of my all-time favorite players.
I don’t think Conley, Aldridge, and Leonhard come CLOSE to Duncan, Parker, Ginobli, mainly because of Duncan and what he meant.
Fact is, Spurs needed someone to play beside Timmy. They waited too long to upgrade Ginobli and Parker both.
Their STAR was Duncan, and everyone else was a role player. Now that star is fading…..

Bankroll PJParticipantDuncan was just one of the stars. Popovich is a star as well and he’ll keep the Spurs contending

KHAM83ParticipantI can see them bringing in Pau for cheap to pair with Aldridge.

llperezObviously the Spurs know what they are doing as an organization, but I’m curious how they work all this out under the cap.
The expected salary cap next year is 92 million. The Spurs currently have 72 million guaranteed for next year and that’s assuming Duncan, ginobli and west all decline their player options otherwise those 3 staying would put the Spurs at 82 million and that’s with them releasing Kyle Anderson and letting any other fa walk.
With Conley expected to make 15-20 million, they would have to tell Duncan, ginobli and west to leave, cut Anderson and then they could pay Conley and they would be maxed out.

festar35ParticipantNot what I want to hear as I really want to see him in a Pacers uniform, but he would be a perfect fit no doubt. Spurs will be in the game no doubt.

benny15Participantconley would be good, but im hoping that the spurs will be able to make a trade for jeff teague to be honest. think his fit in the system would be like a glove. he’s also a year younger than mike and is a good in between kawhi(24) and LMA(30) in regards to age.

MatosParticipantI like Conley and he may be a nice fit for the new Spurs, but we seriously can’t be expecting him to be Tony Parker. I think thats a little disrespectful to Tony Parker, who as great as he was in his prime, was still constantly underrated. I do like the idea of Pau Gasol, since their attempt at Marc Gasol last year didnt fall thru. Either of the Gasol brothers would fit well with Aldridge.

HitsterParticipantA lot will depend what all the Spurs player options guys do this summer as otherwise they won’t have much salary space. Plus Tony Parker has $30 guaranteed over the next two years and is a legend with the Spurs, do they look to move him and if so how would the fans react?
I’d guess Duncan is untouchable but if Manu opted in and they tried to trade him would there be a fans backlash?
Parker is owed a lot more money than Manu or Duncan so to move him would create cap space.
Conley would be a nice fit for the Spurs but Parker being there creates too many obstacles IMO and I think Parker plays out his years there.
