TRC1991ParticipantYep you read that correctly. Spurs and Cavs have entered negotiations over a trade that would send Brendan Haywood’s $10.5m expiring contract to San Antonio for Patty Mills and Tiago Splitter.
Spurs making a big push for Aldridge!

BleedGreen808ParticipantThat’s kind of risky for the Spurs. You’d be sending two solid role players to the Cavs how they could end up facing in the Finals next year. If I was the Spurs I could only do that trade if there were no other options out there and Aldridge confirmed that he was going to San Antonio.

220ParticipantPerhaps only $2.2 million will be guaranteed after July 9 so he can be waves for less than a quarter of the contracts worth.

AKtheLawParticipantThey know what they’re doing although I’ll be the first to acknowledge that Brendan Haywood is about 15 years away from being 20 years away.

tblazer_NZParticipantJason Lloyd: Idea of trade between #Cavs and Spurs involving Haywood contract “never discussed,” I was told.

Rip255I like this trade.
Patty Mills and Splitter are good players, and the Cavs are getting them for nothing more than their reasonable salaries.
And if it means the Spurs can turn those 2 players into Lamarcus Aldridge, then that’s a massive upgrade for them too.

earldaniel31Participantif this were true then Cleveland will have Mozgov, Varejao, & Splitter at the middle.. that’s 23 million committed to their Centers.. without taking in consideration Love’s (if he comes back) & Thompson’s extensions.. that’s over 50 million for 2 positions

Captain LParticipantThe Spurs need the salary cap room in order to sign Aldridge, this would take Splitter & Mills off there books and then they can waive Haywood. Finances are the motivating reason.
