BallerScriptParticipantI love the idea of the NBA expanding
New logos, new unis, new everythingOne thing that I always end up thinking about is which players would most likely go unprotected and end up in the draft pool
Reminder: You can only protect 8 players, the player has to have atleast two years left on their deal as of today
Who are you protecting for your team?
I’ll start with the Boston Celtics
1. Kyrie Irving
2. Gordon Hayward
3. Jayson Tatum
4. Al Horford
5. Jaylen Brown
6. Marcus Smart
7. Aron Baynes
8. Semi OjeleyeMorris and Rozier would be ineligible as they are free agents

festar35ParticipantWell Indiana won’t be able to protect much will they.
1. Victor Oladipo
2. Doug McDermott
3. Aaron Holiday
4. TJ Leaf
5. Alize Johnson
Myles Turner will be a RFA but I imagine he would be back.
Can you protect guys still on rookie deals? Because Sabonis would 100% be in there. If he was to go in the expansion draft I would be very irate…..
Evans, Collison, Joseph, Young, O’Quinn, Bogdanovic all on expiring deals.

CynthiaParticipantWhole starting lineup qualifies:
1. Russell Westbrook
2. Paul George
3. Steven Adams
4. Jerami Grant
5. Andre RobersonThese 3 are unproven…but it’s the only 3 left that fit the qualifications:
6. Dennis Schroder
7. Hamidou Diallo
8. Abdel NaderThe players remaining that would be eligible for the expansion draft:
Alex Abrines – Would love to keep him, but alas
Patrick Patterson – Has been bad in OKC despite good player in Toronto
Raymond Felton – Getting Schroder made him irrelevant
Terrance Ferguson – I’d keep him over Nader, has 2 year team option, wasn’t sure if options qualified though
Nerlens Noel – Unproven, has player option so wasn’t sure he’d qualify to keep
Timothe Luwawu – Unproven, has team option so wasn’t sure he’d qualify to keep
Donte Grantham – Unproven
Deonte Burton – 2way player
Tyler Davis – 2way player
Devon Hall – Rookie, not seeing a contract, assuming didn’t make the team
Kevin Hervey – Rookie, not seeing a contract, assuming didn’t make the team0- Posted on: Tue, 09/18/2018 - 3:01am #1124516

HobbyOGParticipantIF I’m OKC I’m def not protecting Dennis and that terrible contract.

CynthiaParticipantKind of have to, there’s only 8 players eligible to be kept. Unless you don’t HAVE to keep 8? I’m really not sure how it works.

-Aria-Participantyou don’t have to protect 8, thats just the max you can protect

Dog_ShammdogParticipantNot saying he should be protected in this context, but I think Kevin Hervey could be a steal and is a great fit for OKC. He’s 6’8"-6’9" with a 7’3" wingspan, range on his jumper, enough ballhandling to attack closeouts and just has a knack for scoring the ball. As a combo forward, he’s stuck behind Grant and Roberson (i know he plays the 2-4) and will probably be competing more directly with Patrick Patterson for minutes, but I believe Hervey’s offensive versatility and defensive upside could get him on the floor sooner than later – health permitting. He seems to be a player tailor made for ‘positionless basketball’ imo, but his lateral quickness and ability to guard in space will be a determining factor in his career outlook.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipant1. Lebron
2. Ingram
3. Ball
4. Kuzma
5. Hart
6. Wagner
7. Mykhailiuk
8. Zubac
This is kind of tough because so many guys are on expiring deals. I’m not even sure all the guys I picked were eligible.

ZouldiersParticipant1. Josh Richardson
2. Bam Adebayo
3. Kelly Olynyk
4. Goran Dragic
5. Derrick Jones Jr.That’s about it. Wade and probably Haslem will retire, Ellington, Winslow and Mcgruder are on expiring deals and no way in hell I’m protecting TJ, JJ, Waiters and Whiteside.

Prince
Huerter
Young
Spellman
Len

Bazemore * questionable as he’s been available via trade, but he’s more than just a salary dump.

2. Wendell Carter
3. Zach Lavine
4. Kris Dunn
5. Bobby Portis

-They can take Denzel for all I care.
-I would pay one of these new teams to take Felicio (which is against the rules, but I hate him so much as a player, I might risk losing my job to get rid of him)
