Southern California junior Nikola Vucevic, an All-Pac-10 forward who led the Trojans into the 2011 NCAA Tournament, will announce his intention to enter the NBA draft at a news conference Friday afternoon.

Vucevic averaged 17.1 points and 10.3 rebounds for the Trojans as a junior. He shot 50.5 percent from the field and made 29 shots from 3-point range – not bad for a player who stands 6-10 and weighs 260 pounds.

The USC coaches did a remarkable job developing Vucevic from a freshman who played 11 minutes a game and averaged 2.6 points to the star he became as a junior. Vucevic’s finest moment might have been his 25-point, 12-rebound performance in a late February Pac-10 game against Arizona, a game that helped advance the Trojans toward the NCAAs. He also delivered 25 points and 9 rebounds in a December upset of Texas.

Vucevic has an excellent touch around the basket and can turn into either shoulder on post-ups. His developing jumpshot suggests he might eventually be comfortable playing in pick-and-pop situations in the NBA.

Vucevic will make his announcement at a 6 p.m. ET news conference at USC.

Entering w/o an agent. Hope he decides to come back, he has a lot of work to do. Then again, his work ethic is really remarkable – and he could probably develop a lot more going up against NBA players, and learning amongst veterans.

 He’s got an NBA body for sure, I think that alone along with his production will get him in the end of the 1st round.

Vucevic said will be represented by Bill Duffy so he is definitely in. Not that this is a problem. It is not a draft stocked with guys of his size, and those who are his size have nowhere near his skills.

He could turn out to be a decent NBA player. He reminds me of Mehmet Okur.

Went off something I seen earlier in the week that USC Coach Kevin O’Neil was confident that he would test out the draft waters and not sign with an agent unless he gets positive evaluation from GM’s/Scouts. Guess that’s all out the window, I’m still leaning towards that he’d rather develop in the NBA amongst NBA players, trainers, and coaches becaue like I said, his work ethic is really remarkable. Wish him the best, and am confident he will make it in the NBA.
