HotSnotParticipantSource: New York Knicks president Donnie Walsh recently rejected deal for Rudy Fernandez
Rudy Fernandez continues to lobby for a trade to New York, but the Knicks either can’t or won’t make a trade for the Portland shooting guard.
According to a team source, Knicks president Donnie Walsh recently rejected a three-team deal that would have sent Anthony Randolph to Indiana, a first-round pick to Portland and Fernandez to New York.
Because the Trail Blazers are insisting on receiving a first-round pick in return for Fernandez, the Knicks likely need to recruit a third team in order to complete a deal.
All I have to say is NO SH$T! I’m sure most of the league’s GM’s would much rather have Randolph then Fernandez or the crap shoot that is a 1st round pick. Portland gets its first rounder, Indiana gets Randolph (and are elated that NY is so stupid) and NY trades an incredible talent for a fairly decent one.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantIf Donnie Walsh would have done that deal, I would have left.
I want Rudy but you want a 1st round pick? Deuces. It’s worth it.

WizardofOzParticipantWhat 1st round pick would they give up? They can’t trade their 2011 1st round pick because Houston has the right to exchange picks with them and they can’t trade another 1st round pick until 2014. If New York offered their 2014 1st round pick, If I was Portland, I would have declined too.

NY didn’t offer there 1st so it doesn’t matter what happens. Walsh is not trading picks at this time.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI know because Portland wants a 1st round pick. NOT one team has come up with that offer yet because Rudy is still a Blazer.
It doesn’t matter. The Knicks don’t wanna give up alot for someone who wants to come to them. Eventually, someone will get him so why overpay?

OhCanada-ParticipantIve got an idea! Blazers want a Mid 1st Round Pick and New York wants Fernendez and is willing to trade Ranedolph..We all know how much Houston likes ripping of New York!
The missing draft pick can be Houstons and Fernendez will go to New York while Houston rips off New York yet again picking up Randolph!
What a joke, New York may not suck but their management definitely does.

bkballerParticipantThat trade offer was a disgrace and very disresrpectful from the pacers and blazers. Rudy is not worth more than a 2nd round pick now since he never suiting up for the Blazers ever again. The most I would give up for him if I am the Knicks ia Walker and a second rounder.

Lol youre defense to my statement was…Raptors management sucks too. This I know but the difference is New York has Top 3 Revenues, Top 2 national exposure, and Top 3 location. Toronto has Top 15 Revenue, Bottom 5 national exposure, and Bottom 5 location. In other words, New York has every tool needed for success in a league built around American media and lifestyle, Toronto does not have the same tools. New York should be succeeding. The Knicks have been the foundation of New York culture for decades. Putting a NBA team in Toronto was an experiment that turned out to be a great success and is now a vital part of many Torontonians lives.
In other words New York is supposed to be great, Toronto is supposed to suck.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantLol youre defense to my statement was…Raptors management sucks too.
No, my defense is: Don’t throw stones in a glass house.
The Knicks turned cap space and David Lee into Anthony Randolph, Amar’e Stoudemire and Raymond Felton. Plus noone wants to talk about it but ( unless someone gets hurt) The Knicks will be in contention for a playoff spot. So we might swap like the 14th-17th pick with Houston for the 21st to 25th pick? Is that a huge loss? I don’t think so. The 2012 1st rounder might be bad depending on who we get in 2011 1st round class.
So we moved 2 potential late 1st rounders to get cap space for the next 2 seasons? Alright.
Now let’s move to Toronto…you got a TPE and the 30th pick in 2 random seasons for Chris Bosh? That’s great…. You have no legit #1 or #2 option. Let’s be real: Your’e hype about Sonny Weems, a 2nd rounder who already moved around from 3 teams in the NBA. It’s not even close for comparison at this point.
Put it like this: When your hype to move Jose Calderon for Erick Dampier? You know your in for a rough season.

OhCanada-ParticipantJordan Hill a Top 10 Pick over DeMar Derozan, Terrence Williams, Brandon Jennings. Then you package him in a deal for Cap Space which hasnt even all been used. If you drafted Jennings, Felton wouldnt be needed. Not only that but you package Hill in a deal with 2 1st rounders for the shot at Free Agency success now you cant make a move for Melo. Without the T-Mac trade you still wouldve been able to pickup Amare. So if you drafted Jennings kept your picks and signed Amare youd still have enough to trade for Melo and have Jennings, Melo and Stoudemire. Lee is just as good as Stoudemire. Randolph is on the block for Fernandez so it shows how much value he has.
Raptors suck. Derozan is the next Gerald Green. Bargnani is the softest player in the NBA. Dampier is our savior. I know I know…
Poor Knicks fans. WHY ARE YOU DEFENDING YOURE MANAGEMENT!

Lee is not as good as Stoudemire. Stop that.
How is Randolph on the block? Portland wanted him, we didn’t give him up.
Yes, the Knicks should have done what I said coming up to the draft ( #8 pick- Jrue Holiday and then #29th pick- Jonas Jerbko) Those were the two people I wanted NY to take. http://www.nbadraft.net/nba_mock_drafts/29071/2009 ( I don’t know why Douglas was there at 29- maybe the pick was already named)
I cannot defend them for that but I will defend them for this.

bkballerParticipantI find it funny how Raptors fans overrated Derozan to pretend like they have talent…. you are aware that Derozan had the same numbers as our 29th pick. Not saying he wont be good, but to say he is a anything close to lock for anything special is a REALLLL stretch. As for Jennings, you can’t blame the Knicks for not taking him, he was projected to go 17th the night before the draft so a lot of GMs were “overlooking” him, plus I don’t care much for a Marbury mold PG.
As for the trade for T-mac you really can’t single the Knicks out on this one because every team that had a chance at these free agents did it, and if the Raptors had a shot you would be all for them making a move for these guys. Bulls gave away hinrich and the 17th pick for free; Nets gave away CDR, Yi and didn’t take beasely for Dooling keeping space; Miami gutted the whole team and got lucky etc.0 - Posted on: Fri, 09/03/2010 - 4:18pm #393450

sheltwon3ParticipantDouglas is looking like he could be a steal if he improves a lot from his first year which was solid but not spectacular. Jordan Hill pick was not a great pick but I think New York has recovered with nice talent and young players. Also Melo can still be gotten by the Knicks and it took a lot of moves to get to that point but i will say the Knicks organization had some screw up but right now they seem to be making some smart moves. Their team is young, deep, talented, and has financial flexibility. If they can get Melo, then there is nothing anybody really can say about them and what this current management has done. Also that Russian dude could be a solid big man and Turaif is solid as well. They got Roger Mason Jr for cheap. When they make the playoffs most of their young guys stock will be very high.

Calderon is one of the worst contracts in the NBA. Drafting?? remember Arujo? How many of your 1st round picks are actually contributors on your team now?? Now you overrate average young players at best just to sound like you actually have something to look forward too.
