McDunkinKristaps Porzingis is considered by Chad Ford as having the best shot of trumping Jahlil Okafor, Emmanuel Mudiay and Karl Towns to go No. 1 in the 2015 NBA Draft.
Porzingis is playing in Spain for Sevilla and is averaging 8.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 21.8 minutes per game.
Porzingis is a 6’11 big out of Lavia that won’t turn 20 until April.
“A number of international scouts I know swear he’s the best prospect in the draft,” writes Ford. “Let’s see what he does in Spain this year. Those aren’t huge numbers, but given the quality of the league and his age, it’s not shabby either.”

CU.LIONSParticipantDarko Milicic was once a 18 year old “can’t miss Prospect” as well. Jan Vesely was also a highly rated prospect with a similar game to Porzingis. Not saying Porzingis will end up the same, but skinny Europeans/international players tend to be soft, and picking him before Okafor, Towns and Muliay, will be hard for me to imagine.

King CaluchaParticipantI think scouts liked Vesely’s athleticism, because he was known to be a high flyer in Europe. But he was so raw… inconsistent from 3, no midrange game, below average defense.
Porzingis is solid from midrange (3pt still inconsistent). Not a solid low post defender, but a great weak side shot blocker. Also, he’s really good defending the pick and roll… which is valuable. If I’m a GM and I’m not sold on any of the other prospects… I think Porzingis is the way to go in the top 8. He has way more experience than the other guys and will contribute faster.

JoeWolf1Dirk Nowitzki, Yao Ming, Pau Gasol, and Nene were highly ranked foreign prospects as well.
Kwame Brown busted, Dirk is an All-Time great. Lebron James is an All-Time great, Nikoloz Tskitishvili busted.
It’s all about individual prospects, there’s no such thing as Europeans are soft, or Americans are tough stigmas anymore. They’ve been proven wrong too many times to carry any weight.

trelos6ParticipantOkafor is a can’t miss. This dude has a better offensive game than 90% of current NBA centres.

newgenduderParticipantya he’s top 5 in the class for me. 7 feet, damn good athlete, can shoot/high release for highpost potential, can put it on the floor for a dribble/attack a closeout. potential rim protector. pretty much a international version of Myles Turner.

Captain LParticipantI really like this kid, he not like Milicic or Vesely , neither one of those could shoot like this kid, love this kids length, touch, smarts, he should only get better as he gets stronger. I’d love to see my Jazz be able to get him in this next draft.
