Arsalan Kazemi will get a camp invite I think.
15 rebounds a game in the tourney. Shot 62 % from the floor as well. He’s undersized for the 4 but is mobile, plays hard and just knows how to play. Reminds me a bit of Ilyasova with his nose for the ball.

This guy can flat out play. His stock will not get any higher than it is after Da Ville wins the ship and he is the MVP. He should go pro and if I am a team in the mid/late first and he is around, i’d grab him real quick. Can def be the reserve spark plug with his tenacity and scoring punch, but I could also see him continuing to develop the passing needed to play the point because his handles are already there. Much rather take him over a overrated Archie Goodwin for example…. why is he not on any of the mocks?

What Russ Smith is doing is undeniable at this point. If it wasn’t for him, they’d struggle to score for stretches since they don’t have anyone else on the team that can create offense. I can see him having a Nate Robinson like role at the next level. Pure energy, off-the-bench scorer, one man fast break, etc but Russ can also be disruptive defensively. He’s still very thin but he’s got long arms, quick hands and good quickness overall. He would just have to play with a wing who can handle decision making duties since Russ can be very erratic in that area.

I don’t know, I thought his stock would be going up, but it hasn’t.

Russ is very good, I would draft him as well, he is a lethal scoring, has heart and performs BIG when it matters most.

I really think Seth Curry is the only one that has a good chance, and it’s because pure spot up shooting translates while the other guys tend to be ball dominate volume guards. I’ve never been a Russ Smith fan but he’s starting to change my mind.

I think Russ Smith can be that classic third guard off the bench.

You can even start a guy who can handle and score. Not a prototype point guard, but a team could figure out how to play him at the point guard spot.

There really aren’t that many “true” point guards out there. I can think of Rajon Rondo, Mike Conley, and Ricky Rubio on the high end then a guy like Greivous Vazquez as a solid pass-first point guard. Plus some veteran playmaker point guards like Jason Kidd and Andre Miller. Steve Nash is also somewhere on this list as a pass first point guard, but a guy who has fallen off.

Most top point guards now score a bunch, guys like D Rose (when healthy), Westbrook, and Deron Williams. Even Chris Paul, the new textbook superstar point guard, is a top option on offense who often tries to get his own shot, as well as a guy who takes the big clutch shots.

Tony Parker is a guy in the upper-echelon of point guards now who can both score and pass, but he was more of a score-first guy earlier in his career.

Russ Smith is a guy who can use his scoring and speed to wreak havoc on the league, like a Ty Lawson or a younger version even of Tony Parker.

A good comparison now would be to Kemba Walker, and he is showing some promise.

I also like Russ Smith because he comes from a system that preaches defense and a team led by a great coach (Rick Pitino).

Russ Smith can move up even more with a great Final Four.

If Louisville beats the Shockers, then Russ Smith will play against either Trey Burke or Michael Carter-Williams. Both are great point guards who will give Russ Smith all he can handle. If Russ can outplay either one of those guys then that should really help his draft stock.

No one has had him coming out this year and even now most people think he is returning to UM, but he has flat out had an amazing tournament. Michigan’s front court depth chart basically goes one deep right now with 4 guards.

I have no clue if he is even considering coming out this year, but the kid has had a monsterous tourney.

McGary will come back and people will say it was a mistake because he would have gone top 10, (exaggerating of course) because they always do in hindsight. I heard one broadcaster say that Sullinger would have gone #1 overall if he had left after his freshman season but came back to win a national championship. Does anyone on this site actually believe Sullinger would have gone over Kyrie, Williams, or even Kanter?! So I hope McGary comes back ‘to school.

Does Russ Smith remind anyone of John Lucas lll?

Just that 3rd string guard off the bench that can provide a huge spark here and there. Journey-man and will have a tough time staying in the league for long stretches.

Vander Blue- established a reputation as a clutch finisher and much improved shooter. Always been know for his D, this postseason did a lot to sell me on his NBA future.

Adrien Paine- I think if NBA teams knew they were getting the Adrien Paine that has shown up since Brandon Dawson called him out, he’d be getting serious consideration at the back end of the lottery and wouldn’t make it to pick 20. When he plays hard he looks the part of a successful PF.

LaQuintin Ross- Talent has never been the question, but durring this postseason it really looked like Ross finally realized his three ball was a way to open up his drive , not the other way around. When he thinks drive first, shoot second, he’s a much better player.

I didn’t put Mitch McGary because he’s not a fringe prospect, McGary pretty much punched his ticket to the NBA with his performance in the tourney, plus it also helps that he was once pegged as a lottery pick before the season started.
