As the draft approaches debates will surge and in a draft so deep with Big Men possesing so many different characters, attitudes, skills and stories, choosing between these players should prove to be a difficult task. Soloman Alabi worked out for the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday attempting to prove his worth through hard work and the right mentallity which is something that people underate way too much.Having a desire to play and improve in this sport, appreciation for where you are today, and a mission and meaning to joining the NBA and be successful speaks volumes.

In these videos it is extremely apparent that Alabi carries all of these traits,and that the Toronto Raptors orginization is very high on him. All the players in this draft are told to “say” they carry a true dedication for the game by their agents, but few actaully do. The thing that would make Alabi a sure fire success in Toronto is that the man who ultimately gave him the oppurtunity he has today is Raptors Assistant GM Masai Ujiri. Masai is from the same town in Nigeria as Soloman and Alabi has a much better chance of succeeding and reaching his cieling if he can play for Ujiri. Plus he’s exactly what the Raptors need, a defensively sound, gritty, tough, 7 foot Center, who is not shot dominate but can knock down a mid range jumper and has some post skills.

I’ve got a very good feeling the raps are going to trade for a late first rounder and keep 13th pick. This big boy from Nigeria might be their newest prospect/project. As a Raps fan this is highly interesting, although I would rather see them snag Larry Sanders if this scenario rings true – my spidey-senses tell me, however, that they’ve got eyes for the Florida state center. hopefully he’s not a complete bust!

Yes the Raps are the most active in the NBA in attempting to purchase a late pick from NJ or MEM or ORL or ATL etc etc.If Alabi goes anywhere above there late 1st pick that they aqcuir ethey can always trade up as well.I think its a perfect fiot and heres another article..

Who said that Toronto is the most active…where did you see that?

Also, Alabi is not a starter offensively. To be honest, he’s more raw then Thabeet IMO.

With the second pick, I’ll bet the Raps would take Sanders first if he is still there. He probably won’t be, and could go in the teens. They are looking to buy a pick in the 20s. If he is not there look for them to draft Alibi.

Noone said it. I was just throwing my 2 cents on Alabi as a prospect. I didn’t know Chad Ford said that, I was just asking.

He is not more raw than Thabeet. He has better touch around the rim, and he can make a mid range jumper. He attempted few last year, but he made them at a higher clip than any other center in this draft, which has many good centers. Also, Alabi plays much harder and probably has a better work ethic than Thabeet. He is raw, and he struggled in post up situations, but he has real potential. I would be happy if the Celtics, my favorite team, picks him.
