Pro-21ParticipantLast i checked, Lillard is completely by himself in the incredibly competitive west coast.
Can he get them to the playoffs?

j_hughes53ParticipantNo.. They will be too young and inexperienced minus Lillard. I think this year will be about figuring out the talent that they have.

ChewyParticipantof Plumlee and Leonard is tall, long and atheltics. The future of this team will revolve around the development of those two players. We know what Damian will give us. These two young bigs with some solid wings can turn Portland into an excellent defensive team in 2-3 years.

TrillaParticipantThe acquired a lot of good young pieces that could develop into a playoff team in the west
Plumlee, Leonard, Vonleh, Harkless, Crabbee all have the potential to be good rotation players in this league on both sides of the ball, but are a few years away from helping Lillard put this team in the playoffs

sheltwon3ParticipantPortland has a good Eastern Conference team but unfortunately they play in the West.

T RexNo way. Crap team, more like the Cavs before LeBron came back, with Lillard playing the role of no-d Kyrie. Vonleh and Harkless are like Anthony Bennett/Dion Waiters busts.

ChicagoCaseyParticipantI can see them fighting for the eight seed with the Suns and the Mavs, I view the top 7 in the west locks (Spurs, Warriors, Thunder, Clippers, Grizzlies, Rockets, and Pelicans). The eight seed win total should be at 41 to 44 wins given that the east gotten stronger and the west getting stronger up top.
A starting lineup of Damien Lillard, Gerald Henderson, Moe Harkless, Myers Leornard, and Mason Plumlee don’t sound promising, but the bench looks solid with CJ McCullum, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu, Ed Davis, and Allen Crabb have potential to be a solid team. I predict that they will be in the race for the eight seed.

Bed HeadParticipantLillard isn’t nearly good enough to lead the Trail Blazers anywhere (especially out west). Only hope now is having luck in the lottery several years in a row. Sorry.
Which brings me to a much more important point … there’s such a double standard on this forum that it’s, like, not even funny. Imagine if the future success of the Lakers or Knicks hinged on relative nobodies like Leonard and Plumlee. Everybody here would be predicting an utter disaster. (Plus probably making a bunch of lame "whiteboy" jokes.) And rightly so.
Yet when the team is located in an undesirable city (no offense to anyone) … the glass is not only always half full, but practically, like, overflowing with optimism.

WotanParticipantI think most of the young player hope in Portland is centered around Vonleh, McCollum and Leonard, who all have plenty of upside. Most are also looking forward to Aminu and Harkless as well.
Overall Plumlee is not that highly regarded by the majority of Blazer fans, but we’ll see. I think most fans know that the Blazers will be in the lotto at least next year and probably the year after.

jaycee24ParticipantYou know what for a team that had endless kuck with the draft I think they’re due for a drop but if they can draft well there’s hope. They have a young all star caliber PG so step one is still there. Now its figuring out how to develop and find enough talent to contend. They will need alot of luck sadly enough because I do like Lillard

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI still like their frontcourt depth even though they lost Aldridge. I liked the signing of ed Davis, and thought it was one of the more underrated moves of the offseason. We all know lillard will be the focal point, but I think their success will ultimately depend on how young guys like McCollum, Leonard, and plumlee respond to increased roles.
My initial prediction would be 27-33 wins, but its hard to tell sometimes. Nobody thought the suns would be competitive a couple years ago and they surprised everyone winning 48 games and almost making the playoffs. I still think stotts is a very good coach, so anything’s possible.

DolanCareParticipantPortland will finish in the bottom of the standings next season. I like the pieces they have, but they probably won’t win reach 30 wins.

TRC1991ParticipantPortland will go 28-54…They just don’t have enough offense and they’re really young.
I think we could see CJ McCollum as the MIP however

Biggmac7ParticipantI hope Noah Vonleh will be a starter. Lillard, Hendo, Moe, Noah and Meyers/Plumlee.
I suppose this year they gonna miss playofss, maybe draft someone interesting and they”ll be back to the po next year.0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/14/2015 - 11:20am #1000837

220ParticipantFor Portland to make the playoffs 2-3 guys have to have a monumental jump in their game. It happens sometimes especially when a guy is coming from another team like James Harden when he went to Houston, Jermaine O’Neal going to the Pacers and Tracy McGrady going to the Magic. Short of something like that I expect to see Damiam Lillard’s smiling face at the 2016 NBA Draft Lottery Special.

rich.homie.mitchParticipantPortland will be fine, we’re not going to get to the playoffs not even close in my opinion, We’re going to be a lottery team and that is fine. I think Vonleh and McCollum are our two most promising and most potential players. Leonard is coming along fine but I think he is a little overrated. I also like Plumlee and I think we should keep him along for a while. Vonleh didn’t get much run in Charlotte and McCollum at the end of the year was showing why he was the Patriot league player of the year for 2x. He has a great basketball IQ and can really stroke it. Portland also has a great coach in Stotts and a great front office.

sitlbitoParticipantLove what they’re doing with bringing young guys with everything to prove like Plumlee,Ed Davis,Vonley. Start the rebuild already, and if this year they finish in the lottery, which will happen I think, then they have their draft pick.

tblazer_NZParticipantThis summer this team got a whole lot younger and more athletic. This team should be competitive on defense but have a lot of struggles and growing pains on offense. If Henderson starts in front of McCollum, I could see him in the running for both 6th man and MIP this next season. Portland should really try to run the ball with how this team is currently built. They will struggle in the half court with the lack of good shooters. Henderson (ok shooter), Aminu, Davis and Plumlee aren’t going to spread the floor for Damian Lillard. Look for Portland to have a top ten pick in the next draft.
I could see them getting off to a good start next season before they find out that they aren’t such a good team. Philly did that a couple years ago. Their standings range for next year will be between 11-15 in the west next year. I could see them move Henderson and Kaman on to other teams before the trade deadline.

ExumInfernoParticipantNot only can’t Portland get to the playoffs, they probably don’t want to.
Lose and get a very high pick, Kaman and Henderson expire to free up more money, then they can sign a couple of maximum free agents.
Maybe Portland will try for the one-year rebuild. Lillard, Simmons, Durant, Leonard, Plumlee. Possible if everything wrosk out, and Durant wishes he could play closer to Seattle. Unlikely to happen, but still their best plan.
Batum would have gotten them a few more wins, maybe Blake too, so they traded away as well as lost players to free agency.
Portland are hoping for that top pick.
Another thing to remember, for fantasy NBA games Portland will be great. Later in the drafts, grab Leonard and others and they should do a lot because of much higher minutes than last season.

OhCanada-ParticipantVonlehs D is terrible he doesnt play with alot of intensity either and seems like he needed time adjusting to the NBAs system basketball. If he can put it all together though his game and skills are great. He has some post moves, touch, good fluidity, and a shot he can hit out to the 3pt line. That means nothing if your lost on the floor though.
Plumlee can’t gaurd stretch 4’s which was the problem with him and Lopez playing together. Davis and Leonard should start in my opinion. Leonard could develop into a scary offensive player and was an extremely efficient player in limited minutes. He could win MIP.
Aminu should be great with an increased role likely on his way. His shot looked good in the Playoffs and if he can shoot like that consistently he could be MIP.
CJ McCollum is another guy that will likely get looks as MIP and 6th man. He seems comfortable with the NBA speed and should be a big part of the offense with the whole starting lineup but Lilliard gone.
