So, about 7 years ago thanks to me living in Chicago and being an avid viewer of this site I remember saying, "I know we will probably have no shot at getting him, but that kid from Simeon would be the perfect guy to be the next Bulls superstar!"

Well, it happened.  Beating the lottery odds in a way that has never been done before the Bulls got the #1 pick.

Well, here we go again.  Unless Parker stays in college for 3 years and the Charlotte pick the Bulls have becomes #1 (or maybe top 3, realistically) the Bulls most likely have no chance of getting Parker out of the draft.  I just needed to say it publicly so that whatever basketball God granted my last wish will help lightning strike twice.

If the Bulls somehow picked Jabari Parker, I am pretty sure the lottery conspiracy theorists would never stop. They would have a lot of ammo, plus people might start believing every word of it. Total honor to be on SI, though I think it is a ridiculous amount of pressure for what seems like a humble kid who does not necessarily want as much as has been placed on him (at least judging from the TIME magazine interview).

Right now it looks like Parker and Andrew Wiggins are turning into a LeBron James/Carmelo Anthony redux. Have no idea if either will be as good as their predecessors, who have accomplished a lot during their time in the league even without having titles. Both do look like stars, though and with some of the best wing players in the NBA reaching their twilight years, it will be great to add some new blood near the top.

The Parker/Wiggins debate will rage on for a while and could reach new heights if Andrew does actually join his original class in 2013. They are basically the same age, Andrew is a few weeks older and right now appear to be head and shoulders above the next closest prospects. Both seem like great kids and have ability at their positions that has not been seen since most likely Kevin Durant. These two players just bring us back to the exciting times of the 2003 Draft, which produced 4 perennial All-Stars in the top 5 picks. When that happens, it is a big deal. These guys fit the bill to be major pick-ups for whatever team calls their name in 2014 or 2015.

Dude could be going on a mormon mission… BYU anyone? Him, davies, nick emery (a top 50 player from 2013), matt carlino, and tyler haws coming  back from his mission for anyone that remembers him from the tourney 2 years go. There is a chance… especially with the whole jimmer thing and how he handled it humbly.

MSU is in the lead. Papa Parker wants to stay close to home in the Midwest.

…that is where I think he might end up.  Groce would give himself an extra decade with that coup.

The Jabaris Parker hype is starting to get out of control. Best prospect since LeBron? Please. Dude donesn’t have the athleticism to dominate at the next level.

I  Think Parker is the best prospect out of the last 3 classes combined and I’d rather here he’s the best prospect since lebron then Shabazz Mohammad is the next Kobe or d wade, but Parker to me reminds me a lot of Carmelo Anthony in HS, foot work jump shot the ability to play inside and out from a HS player is amazing and will be the number one overall pick when ever he comes out

I hope Parker plays some D, that would make him special.  I don’t think there is the next LeBron until I see a linebacker who is 6’8" running a 4.2 down the court.  That is why LeBron is such a freak, his body looks like Karl Malone.

It’s like saying someone is the next Yao or Shaq, it’s not a fair comparison.  But, the " Best since…" might be okay. Chicago has been ballin’ lately.  #1 this year in Anthony Davis, #1 in 2 years with Parker.  Not too shabby.

Bet the Clippers wish they chose to suck now instead of every other year ever.  Even they could probably pick right in these upcoming drafts.

I think Parker is the best player in the class by far yeah wiggins is good but he is really raw offensively I think at this point Julius randell and Aaron Gordon are better players not sayin they will be in the future

    As of yesterday:

    Michael V. (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)

Who do you feel has more NBA potential between Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins? Is Nerlens Noel ranked #1 due to his potential next season as opposed to Shabazz Muhammad, or at the NBA level?

    Dave Telep

      (3:19 PM)

This is a question that we’re discussing at AAU events on the regular. As it stands, at this moment, Wiggins would be the top overall prospect in HS basketball and most interesting from an NBA standpoint. Having said that, I think Jabari’s been banged up this spring. He’s not done yet. Plus, Parker is a winning machine with his HS team and USA Basketball. To answer your question, Wiggins has gone out and assumed the role of top prospect. He earned it with his play and believe me, the ability to maximize his potential is there. However, do not fall into the trap that has Parker on the descent. He’s got a rally in him and I think it’s coming up once he gets healthier.

    http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/43861/recruiting-with-dave-telep

I was not falling into the trap that Jabari Parker was on the descent, but I think Dave’s opinion is one that is becoming more and more common. Wiggins’ looks like the best prospect in HS Basketball currently and has put up EYBL’s superior to all of 2013’s top prospects. Jabari is fantastic and he definitely has not seemed like himself, but from a prospect stand point, Andrew Wiggins’ athleticism and ability puts him second to none in 2013 or 2014 from the stand point of a NBA prospect.

Even though Dave obviously ignored the second part of my question, lol, it seems like he does put his rankings from the stand point of not only NCAA, but NBA potential. I think most HS recruiting analysts would love to have the top of their lists filled with NBA All-Stars as opposed to guys who were solid NCAA players who never had a major role in the league. It is hard to project how a player will progress from a physical and mental standpoint.

Right now, the decision between Wiggins and Parker is not an easy one. They both look like future stars who will both have short NCAA stints and be near the top of the draft whenever they enter. They both look like future All-Stars at the wing. Jabari is a great All-Around player, but do not think that Andrew Wiggins is only an athlete. Not only is he strong and athletic, but he plays both sides of the floor very well. His shot is greatly improved and he is becoming a very aggressive offensive player. His athleticism is absolutely elite, but his game has progressed to the point where people are seeing a future star. Parker may be at this level as well, but Andrew has been killing it against top competition as well and putting himself in the conversation for top prospect in HS Basketball.
