doubledribblerParticipantIt’s pretty much impossible to trade him. It’s too hard to trade a guy on a rookie contract and get back equal value. The Lakers don’t have enough talent to be trading off anyone at this point and pretty much anyone in the locker room that might have an issue with him can easily be traded or gone next year. He’s too talented to give away and the team is too terrible for it to be worth it. Like it or hate it, but right now he is the future of this team. He did the best thing in addressing the controversy and thankfully for him it happened at the end of a terrible year that everyone wants to forget.
Somewhat related, but does everyone forget that Kobe did the same thing to Shaq that Russell did to Young?

For example, Towns & Okafor have squared off probably more than a Dozen times before even entering College….. Along w/ that exposure they really seem to learn a maturity well beyond their years……
Russell’s raw excitement at the Draft & thru the 6 weeks of Pre-Draft workouts & combines was Truly refreshing…… He’s got a Million watt smile…… But remember Russell was something like 5th on his High School Basketball factory prep teams Guard depth chart…… So Russell wasn’t in those AAU All Star games squaring off w/ prep Super-star PG Mudiay…… When Russell went Ohio St, he was Not listed in the the Top 60 of ANY Mock Draft for the 2015 NBA Draft…… He was no way considered a "One & Done" guy…….
So Russell did not have those 2 or 3 or 4 years to develop the thick skin of the wily veterans to exposure like his peers were…… Russell almost seemed like a Lottery winner that was crashing the Draft party…….. His mere presence does more harm than good. What if a free agent (eg Westbrook) doesnt come because hes there….what if players like Clarkson want to move on. What if team chemistry is affected.
Its not like you’d get nothing back in return…ideally you would get close to equal value.
Breaking bro code was the the act…but the fallout will carry on indefinitely.
Plus fans will always know him as the rat. He tarnishes the Lakers brand. He wont sell any jerseys or attract new fans.
