    http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/knicks/post/_/id/131/how-should-jim-dolan-spend-the-500000-he-saved

“And since the Knicks should have $2-3 million in leftover cap room, even if they sign two max free agents at starting salaries of $16.5 million, my educated guess is this: There are saving some money to make a respectable offer to Earl Barron, who was the Knicks’ center for the final seven games of the regular season (he had two double-doubles, including 17 points and 18 rebounds in a win over Boston on April 6).

The Knicks signed Barron to a 10-day contract April 2, and a contract for the remainder of the season on April 12. At the time, I asked Walsh why he hadn’t signed Barron to a make-good contract for the 2010-11 season (similar to what the Bulls had done with Rob Kurz, and the Celtics with Tony Gaffney and Oliver Lafayette).

Walsh said he would have liked to, but only at the veteran’s minimum. Barron declined, his advisors believing he might be able to do better on the open market.”

Possibly but he shouldn’t get any more than about 3-4 million, he only played a few good games.

i didnt realize tony gaffney was on the celtics. He was the last player cut from the lakers before last season and i thought he should have made the team.

People might laugh at this but…

Hypothetically speaking, if the Knicks land 2 Maxes, cheap contracts to guys that can contribute with the remaining dollars would make sense. He shouldnt get anything more than the veterans minimum, and even that is a stretch, imo.

Does Earl Barron really warrant a whole thread? Knick Fans should be excited for this lineup

    Andy Rautins
    Wilson Chandler
    Landry Fields
    Dani Galineri
    Earl Barron

They’re gonna take the D-League by storm…oh hold on wait they are serious about them players competing in the NBA>?

Eh, I wasn’t too keen on Barron. He’s alright.

I think we should bring him back. He’s a big body who shown he could play a bit in a NY’s system. Him and Jordan could be solid bigs for NY. I think the goal for NY is a point guard. Maybe we could pick up Patrick Mills or even Luke Ridinour.

Guys they should go after for the minimum:

    Patrick Mills
    Ian Manhini
    Shawn James

Cant think of anyone else right now, i also wouldve tried to buy Solomon Alibi, They desperately need a backup center, at least someone with good size.

They should of drafted Bradon Jennings last year instead of Hill who they didn’t even attempt to give a chance…Imagine Jennings playing in New York…But then again the Knicks picked somebody they knew would flop so they could trade him without worrying the fans so they could have extra cap space…ingenious…

Rick James says.. “weed is a hell of a drug.” Who did the Toronto Mapleleafs take in the draft Canadakush? THats who you should be rooting for. Cause the Raptors arent gonna win jack shit ever in the NBA. Bring back the SuperSonics.

lmao, the Leafs would’ve had the second overall pick in the NHL draft. But traded it to Boston.

Brett Connolly FTW. Third best prospect in the draft at 6th overall for TB!
