RUDEBOY_ParticipantDecember 18 is a big day, 2 of the most anticipated freshmen in years play their 1st college game…Renaldo Sidney and Mississipi State will play Virginia Tech and Selby’s Kansas team plays USC…Sidney was the top rated prospect from the 2009 class..Had sat out the past year and a half..While Selby was hit with a 9 game suspension..
Some have compared Selby to Derrick Rose and Sidney have been compared to Chris Webber..Those comparison are a little off..Selby plays more like Steve Francis..And Talk out of Mississippi St. camp says Sidney is overweight, lacks maturity and jacking up 3 pointers, but will be a better player if he remained in the post..That has some people are comparing him to DeMarcus Cousins…Who learned that playing down low will make him a better player..
I’m eager to see what both players have to offer college basketball fans..But i was born and grew up in Mississippi and had family members that attended Miss. State ,so i’m more excited to see How Sidney plays this saturday….

JNixonParticipantSidney. I’m confident Selby will be an impact player sooner or later. I don’t know what to expect from Sidney. Could it be the super skilled 11th grade version, or the guy from 12th grade to this past summer who was way out of shape and bad on D? Sidney’s path is more interesting IMO.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantWoah woah woah I wouldn’t say Selby is one the most anticipated freshman in years. That’s a little extreme.
Right now DraftExpress, for example, has him as the #13 pick this year. This site has him at 17 – next year. Enes Kanter hasn’t played a game either and he’s top 10 – this year – on both sites. If Selby was one of the most anticipated freshmen in years he would be considered a top 10 lock no matter when entered.
I think he’ll be good and probably a lottery pick but I won’t be planning my schedule around his debut.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantSeeing how incredibly weak this year’s center crop is, with no true centers projected to go in the first round right now, I’d say Sidney has a great chance of being a mid-low lottery pick if he plays his game and shows that he can be an NBA center.

iguapops420ParticipantSelby is gonna fire the league up, very excited to see his debut after watching him in the McDonald’s game. Sidney I’m not sure about. I remember getting a card of him out of a slam mag from when he was in 10th or 11th grade and was pretty intrigued. Now knowing his work ethic mixed with the fact he hasn’t played basketball against any real competition in close to two years, leaves me questioning weather or not he’s going to be able to adjust to the speed and physicality of college from high school , much less pro’s.

hiphopismylifeParticipantGreat question. Im thinking Sidney because the jury is out on what kind of player he will be. I’ve already heard the high praise from Bill Self about Selby. Hes called him the most talented player hes ever recruited and said that they have never had an impact player of this caliber joining them mid season. With Sidney though, I have NOOO clue how he will fair. I havent heard any updates out of the Mississippi State campus. His talent is really incredible, I just dont know if hes put in the work that will allow him to showcase it all.
