delfamParticipantanyone else think it’s an outrage this game isn’t on national television. I mean they’re showing UNC v. Miami and Texas v. Ok State. I mean if it was any other two top 10 teams this would be a highlight game.

jeff416ParticipantYes it is, there are other channels other then ESPN. It’s on CBSC, channel 613 on Direct TV.
Memphis vs UCF is on now, it will come on after that game.

R-Dot-13ParticipantJimmer is toooo nice, this guy is a pure scorer
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/27/2011 - 5:15am #479290

PureshooterParticipantUnfortunately I had to watch the game streaming over the internet. CBS Sports is extra in my area and it is ridiculous that it wasn’t carried by ESPN or somebody else.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantESPN doesn’t have a contract with the Mountain West Conference. They can’t just pick and choose to put on any game they want.

LAKE SHOWSecond BYU game i’ve been to this year and i’m not convinced Jimmer is the player of the year.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/27/2011 - 6:06am #479316

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantI think it should be Sullinger, but he is easily first team All-American.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/27/2011 - 6:42am #479328
LAKE SHOWYeah since Sullinger has helped the team to the number one record but Jimmer has Just Adam Morrison/J.J Reddick every team he has faced. I’m telling ya’ll this kid reminds me of Mark Price to a T

Ghost01ParticipantJimmer is POY.
Cheapskates by some cable and you would have been able to see this game, its not that hard.

LAKE SHOWOR live in utah or near Utah. I dont know why they wouldnt show this game when its two ranked teams with two AllAmerican players. They put the wrong games on TV sometimes

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantMuch bigger than Price. He is built like Bibby coming out of Arizona and has a similar game. The fact that he isn’t a waif means something to me. If a point guard isn’t going to be a blur like Rose or Wall, he has to be able to operate with a defender on his hip and take the bumps. He can do that. He isn’t a guy who makes a living taking midrange jumpers like Morrison. He doesn’t require a great deal of space like Redick. He is going to be a good pro. He can handle the ball, he runs the pick-and-roll well, his range is as deep as anyone, and he isn’t inept defensively. BYU has a solid team scheme defensively, so Jimmer should be able to pick up on the team scheme for an NBA team. I think he has more going for him in terms of translating to the NBA than Kemba Walker.

R-Dot-13ParticipantI personally think Jimmer should be the POY,
he is definetly the best scorer in the country, i watched the game last night, and this guy scores in a variety of ways.
He hit pull up mid range jumpers, has unlimited range, gets to the rim and finished and can take contact, and he is a very good ball handler. I think he has the ability to be a great pro if the team gives him a chance.
BYU is going to be 3 seed in the tourney this year IMO and it’ll be thanks to Jimmer

Ghost01ParticipantI would agree…i feel like he pretty much has all the tools to be a solid player the next level. Im not willing to rule out Walker as a good NBA player, but he has to start drifting back to how he started the season, rather than what hes been doing lately, looking like a guy taking a lot of shots and forcing it.
However, he is still right there with Jimmer and Sullinger for POY

LAKE SHOWI’m not saying his game is like Morrison or J.J im saying he is doing what they were doing, Dominating. Yeah ihe is bigger then Price. Price game with a Matt Harpring type Body as a point guard. Scouts still are low on him though thinking he is a late first or early second because they feel he’s a undersized two guard. He’s a guy i hope prove’s them wrong.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantWalker has far more questions operating as a point guard, whether he can hit the NBA three, and how effective he will be when he isn’t the first option. He has also been a sub-40 percent shooter since the team got back from their semester break. There are more small, quick, shoot first backup point guards now, but given where some people think he will be taken that seems like a bit of a stretch to me.

LAKE SHOWI Agree with you but For some reason Scouts just aren’t that inlove with Jimmer. It doesn’t matter because i think he will make all the teams that pass on him look like fools. Basically the longer you stay in college the lower they think you’re ceiling is.

In most instances, a senior in college is there because he couldn’t leave yet. He didn’t develop enough so that he could be in the NBA yet. I think that is somewhat short-sighted when a player has clearly shown growth and development each year. People still talk about the potential of Anthony Randolph, but he only has the work ethic to be what he is. Physically, Tyrus Thomas could have been tremendous, but he only has the work ethic to be what he is. Jimmer has worked to get better every year, why would he stop trying to improve when he gets to the NBA? I can see that Kyle Singler is still the same player he was last year when he was a power forward trying to play small forward. Why would I regard him any higher as a draft prospect when a year has gone by and he is still at the same level of development?

llperezlast night was the third time this year i’ve seen jimmer play a full game this season(ucla, unlv, sdsu) and im having a real hard time figuring out why he wont translate to the nba. His speed off the dribble and his hesitation moves are legit and some of the best in the country and his shooting goes without saying.

YurpleHazEParticipantJimmer reminds me alot of Vinnie Microwave Johnson…..Bibby is also a good comparison
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/27/2011 - 2:40pm #479607

Dale WorthingtonParticipantKemba Walker is POY.
He’s putting up the same numbers as Jimmer but doing it against stiffer competition.
