BallinmvpParticipantthis is completely ridiculous if there is any ounce of truth, why would the sixers do this?

chrispaulwallParticipantWell, they would get the 7th which has tons of value pick plus likely draft Exum at 3. This has been said a lot but MCW is not as good as his inflated numbers and he’s already about 23. Obviously he’s proven and Exum isn’t, but I actually like the move a lot for both teams.

What The DevilParticipantMCW won RotY in a terrible draft class year. I’m a firm believer of selling while the price is sky high if it’s the right choice. If the Sixers can get the 7th pick to go along with the 10th and 3rd then they can really add some talent to their team or make a package of some sorts to move up and get Wiggins.

vulture711ParticipantNash has been washed up for 5 years so you trade your 2 best players for the 7th pick ?
step back and think about how dumb that is

What The DevilParticipantRespectfully disagree. Nash is will just be a salary dump at the end of the year and Young hasn’t been in the Sixers future for a while now. Also MCW being one of their best players is also a testament to how terrible the Sixers are than he is.

chrispaulwallParticipantexactly haha why are people acting like Nash is a factor at all in this deal. If anything he can mentor Exum though. The one thing I do agree with is that they can probably get more for Thad but he’s not a part of their plans and the 7th pick in this draft is a great commodity

druneave3ParticipantWhere did all this MCW hate come from? I saw a special player last year who played extremely well or even better than a lot of NBA point guards on a nightly basis, hit big time shots in crucial situations, and all those triple doubles/near triple double or "inflated numbers" as one poster analyzed. 6’6 PG who can do everything…. I don’t get it. MCW is the real deal and there is no way I would move him for #7 or almost anyone in this draft.

Ebown5ParticipantI have been following this draft so closely for the entire last year. We tanked the whole season. Got through the lottery with 3 and 10. Had a legit shot at Wiggins with a fall back position of a pure star in Jabari Parker.
Now we are talking about trading MCW and drafting Exum? This is pathetic. 🙁

BallinmvpParticipantI understand it makes sense for the lakers but I wouldn’t give up on MCW. He still won rookie of the year regardless of the team. Talent is there, I wouldn’t trade him away for the 7th pick. Unless you believe exum will be better I don’t think they need to do it

Ebown5ParticipantUp even if you think Exum will be better you still don’t trade MCW. Draft Exum to play the 2 and then draft a forward with the 10th pick.

Bfree24ParticipantI thought this was stupid and made up, but multiple sources (however reliable) have claimed there is at least smoke to the deal. I cant imagine the best the 76ers can get for Thad and MCW is a salary dump and the 7th pic. If youre looking to move both, you should be able to get a lot better for those two than that. If you cant get better, then why would you trade them, especially MCW, at all? I dont know why im rationalizing how bad this is. It cant really happen can it?

FearTheStacheParticipantMakes sense considering their situation. Assuming Wiggins is of the board now, they almost have to draft Exum the stand out BPA. However, I’m sure they know that MCW and Exum would not play well together. We heard rumors about that a few weeks now. Now that the Exum future seems imminent, they’d rather sell MCW at his highest than have him struggle with Exum. Also, I doubt that they would keep all 3 lottery picks. That’s insane. Instead maybe package 7 & 10 to move up for Vonleh. I’d rather have Exum, Vonleh and Noel than MCW, Exum, Noel and whoever they get at 10. That’s just me.

Magic JordanParticipantAs a Lakers fan I hope this isn’t true. MCW is nice and all but I want to draft someone to call my own! And I don’t want two years of Thad Young. But mostly just because I want to draft someone and watch them develop.
From a financial stand point it also doesn’t make sense from the Lakers stand point who supposedly want to be players in free agency.
I wish Hinkie was our GM.
0- Posted on: Fri, 06/20/2014 - 6:00pm #923229

AwrightAwrightAwrightParticipantWhy would you want Hinkie as the Lakers GM ? If he was there, he’ll pull this deal, and give you guys Thad and MCW, while giving the Sixers the 7th. Then you guys won’t have "someone to call your own anymore".
0- Posted on: Fri, 06/20/2014 - 6:23pm #923235
Magic JordanParticipantHuh?
I would rather have the 7th pick than MCW. I’m not sold that he is as good as he showed last year. Clearly if the 76ers were to give him up for the 7th pick than they aren’t either.
Your logic also makes no sense, if Hinkie was the Lakers GM he would make this trade? So you’re thinking that the 76ers are angling for this? Which means that you would be okay with this trade? Which means sense you are a 76ers fan you essentially agree with me that this trade would be better for the 76ers? Hence why I wouldn’t want it as a Lakers fan. Thus concluding with the fact the 76ers would be getting over on my Lakers, the main reason why I would want Hinkie as my GM…. Because I think he is a good GM.
0- Posted on: Fri, 06/20/2014 - 6:29pm #923247

AwrightAwrightAwrightParticipantFrom all the rumors out there regarding this proposed deal, it seems that both the Sixers and Lakers are kinda favoring it. So, just bear in mind that it’s all still rumors at this stage.
Now, just bear with me for a second….having said that, if both parties agree, it means that if Hinkie was there, he’ll also favor this deal, right ? And if he favors this deal for your team, but you don’t, then why would you want him as your GM ?
0- Posted on: Fri, 06/20/2014 - 6:55pm #923258
Magic JordanParticipantIf that’s how it plays out then certainly… But even aside from this, I like his rebuilding method in comparison to the Lakers who can’t seem to decide which route to take, part of it is because aging Kobe and the other part is because the relentless fans… But it seems they can’t commit to a full rebuild like Hinkie did.
And I’m definitely not saying its a bad deal… MCW while I think is slightly over rated is still good… As well as Thad… But for a NBA draft fan who just so happens to be Lakers fan as well… We don’t get this oppurtunity very often. I really want them to keep the pick… And also because I value cap space more than I value Thad Young.
0- Posted on: Fri, 06/20/2014 - 7:09pm #923395

AwrightAwrightAwrightParticipantYep. I hear ya. Oh well, guess we’ll find out in the next few days. Maybe you’ll get your wish and this trade won’t happen, and the Lakers wind up keeping the pick and draft somebody meaningful.

SmooveKRYPTParticipantBrett Brown is gonna beg to go back to SA as an assistant if they make him coach a starting lineup full of rookies next year. Lol
But I guess I don’t hate it too much…if they really believe in Exum, then they could come out with some combination of Exum, Randle, and whatever SG they want at 10 (Young, Stauskus, Harris, LaVine).

SwatLakeCityParticipantIf this is true, I don’t think the Sixers would keep the 3rd, 7th and 10th picks. I think they would give the 10th to the lakers as part of the trade. Meaning they would have the 3rd and 7th picks. They would probably use them on Exum and Randle. I don’t think Vonleh will be available at 7 and Randle would still be a good fit with Noel. We know Brett Brown likes Exum. He coached his father Cecil Exum, so he certainly knows Dante well. This draft is one of the best in decades, and the 2013 draft was said to be one of the weakest yet MCW won ROY. So, of course his stock moves up a little bit (he was the 11th pick last year, so the 7th pick for him and a washed up Nash would move his stock up), but he is 23 years old while Exum is 18. He is probably the Sixers best bet now that Wiggins is off the board with the injury to Embiid. Parker is probably going to the Bucks, so there goes the settle pick for the Sixers. Their best bet in all reality is Exum, but the Sixers know that MCW and Exum combo would not work well in the backcourt so the Sixers look to trade MCW knowing that the market for him would be pretty good. But I think the Lakers can make the deal look a little more pleasing to the Sixers, then a washed up Nash, and the 7th pick. If this deal does go down and the 10th pick is traded to the Lakers, then I think the Lakers would use the pick on Zach LaVine. He can play PG if MCW doesn’t work out there but I highly doubt that happens. No worries, he also can play 2 guard while Kobe is his mentor.

Clean187ParticipantI do think there is a possibility of a MCW trade if they take Exum (I personally think they keep both. At this point, I don’t think the Sixers care one iota about "fit"), but I think he is worth more than just a dangling carrot for moving from 10 to 7.
