Guess Gay had a talk with Ujiri.

So enough of all this talk about Rudy getting traded for Stuckey and Charlie V, which btw was a really stupid offer. No way does Ujiri trade away Gay without receiving a young promising prospect or a first round draft pick. Man was executive of the year, he’s not stupid enough to bite on that offer. Sorry Detroit!

But more importantly this may possibly mean Raps are not looking to tank next season.

From a Detroit fans standpoint, thank god! Please stop Dumars from making an dumb short term deals. If that Gay trade went through, we might as well have kissed out top 8 protected draft pick goodbye.

Well I think Dumars has done a good job of making a team through the draft as hes built a promising duo of Monroe and Drummond plus Brandon Knight. I think his thought was to accelerate this rebuilding process by bringing in a rudy gay and/or Rondo. Nice to hear your opinion Reaction

I think this would’ve been a great move for Detroit. Yes Rudy is highly paid but he’s on the books for 2 years. He will help offensively, something the Pistons need badly and after 2 years if he plays well you can sign him to an extension, if not he’ll have an expiring contract next year so he’ll be tradeable. It was a win win situation. Suppose we sign Iguadala…he’s already 30 and gonna be on the books for 4 years and be overpaid anyway. Why overpay for 4 years when you only have to overpay for 2? Rudy with that young talent would be a good pick-up. Pistons will be in contention for the playoffs this year with the C’s, Bucks and Hawks all falling out so the protected pick probably won’t matter anyway.

Nothing is set in stone, but it’s obvious Ujiri isn’t going to just dump Rudy’s contract. I was really surprised Pistons fans thought that trade would go through. Masai could get that deal anytime he wants – hell he even got a better return for Bargnani, who was a far worse trade asset and coming off an injury riddled season.

I personally hope the Raptors don’t tank next year and find a way to flip their assets in order to obtain a nice young player/star from a team looking to rebuild. If they do tank though, Ujiri will definitely be patient in trying to maximize the assets he obtains.

Bringing in Iguodala, Gay, or Josh Smith will do nothing but put Detroit in the 7-8 seed or just outside of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Detroit needs to add to the young core. Adding high priced aging players will not put Detroit amongst the elite teams in the East so why bring them in? Also Drummond and Monroe are going to be demanding a lot of money in the very near future, no reason to waste cap space on players who won’t be putting Detroit in championship contention
