llperezhe’s an underrated player and at just over 1 million for the next 2 years, hes a real bargain. Not sure overpaying wesley mathews just to run the much cheaper fernandez out of town was a smart idea, but someone will reap the benefits.

gregoden08ParticipantRudy didn’t fit in Portland’s system and he obviously was fraustrated. Everyone knew that he was going to get traded at some point. And yes, Portland did overpay for Wesley, but he certaintly is an upgrade over him IMO. To answer the question, New York. No need for him in Chicago with all the new additions and wouldn’t see a huge amount of playing time in Boston.

Mr. BasketballParticipantclips should trade for him, he could start at SF like he wants to.

CelticJayhawkParticipantHe’d be great for Boston. He could take Tony Allen’s role.

gregoden08ParticipantYou don’t want Rudy starting…Let alone playing sf. He simply can’t defend sf’s.

knicks82ParticipantThe Knicks definately need a true sg. But last I heard they wanted Gallinari and a 1st rd pick in the deal…no way the Knicks do that.

McWinningParticipantWhere did you hear that?

McWinningParticipantMakes no………………. Why would we ask for anything less than Gallo, Randolph, and Chandler?
Lol just kidding.

freddy79ParticipantI mean, he shoots threes, but he’s streaky. He’s a “poor men” Ginobili: a good passer, he can drive the ball and goes to the rim. But if you take him as a shooter, you’re going to be disappointed…

rtbtParticipantI think there were a lot of good comments in this thread so far. However, the one I disagree with is evaluating him based on his performance in Portland. I realize that’s all we have up to this point, but the guy was never comfortable with McMillan’s system and never fit in. So the question remains, how good is Fernandez?
Like many above, I think NY is the team where he will have the best opportunity to play his style and prove that he can be a prime time player in the NBA.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantFernandez was overhyped when he entered the league. The spin machine orchestrated from the desk of Kevin Pritchard tried to make it sound like he was a lottery talent. He isn’t that, he isn’t a difference maker, but he is a rotation caliber player. He can shoot the 3 and can work within a defensive scheme where he isn’t hung out to dry guarding the great wing athletes of the league. He would be a good pickup for the Bulls, but they can float James Johnson all day and it doesn’t give him trade value. The probably need to offer up either their next first round pick, or that of Charlotte in 2012. People shouldn’t confuse Korver and Brewer with 40 minute players, they have the minutes for another wing. Boston can probably give up their next first and have Fernandez guard against Avery Bradley not being good enough to get on the floor. New York would probably be a spot where they can start him, but that would mean they’d be looking at a very mediocre roster with no first round picks until 2013.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI like Rudy. He can shoot the ball, is a good athlete and hustles…
However, he thinks he’s better than what he is. He’s also too sensitive. Once he accepts that he’s just a role player in the NBA and embraces it, he’ll be a solid rotation player.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantFernandez was overhyped when he entered the league.
Explain how? He came into the NBA as a late 1st who could provide off the bench. I remember alot of people underrated him then he set a all time 3 point made record for rookies and had the best dunk in the dunk contest ( albeit he tried it 7 times)
I think if he starts? He could be a solid starter. I would say 13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists is about right.
