 #1 – D’Angelo Russell, Los Angeles Lakers. Hollywood is the last place you want to be a #2 pick bust.

#2 – Andrew Harrison, Memphis Grizz. Between Russ Smith and Jordan Adams chucking up all the shots in summer league, Harrison didn’t get many FGAs, and his strength is his 3 point jumper. I don’t even think he has a contract yet, guranteed or otherwise.

#3 – WCS, Kings. If WCS struggles with passion for the game, playing in Sacramento with that soap opera is not going to help him. He might just deside to be a tattoo artist or something, Ricky Williams style. However, is Cousins is traded, WCS might thrive in a central role.

#4 – Okafor, Philly. I’m not to worried about it, but he did drop the jersey on the floor at his introductory press conference. Once the grind of a long, tanking season sets in, Okafor’s rumored struggles with motivation will be tested to the max.

#5 – Robert Upshaw, Lakers. He still doesn’t have a contract, and might not get one. LA is the last place for this guy though. He should go to Salt Lake City or something.

I will admit I’m not a huge believer in D’Angelo Russell but it’s way too soon to say he’s a bust. If I were Okafor I’d be thrilled at the amount of playing time I’m gonna get but I’d still be kinda bummed to play for the 76ers who really have no plan on being good anytime soon. WCS I wouldn’t say that’s a terrible landing spot as he won’t be asked to do too much too soon. But I’m curious on what the plan to do with him if they don’t want to give up Cousins. I guess I’d be kind of bummed about maybe not getting as much PT since he would’ve had a chance at starting on other teams that were picking in the top 10.

I get what you’re saying but I was taking into the account that he’s a rookie. And, I don’t think that George Karl will do that. But I could be wrong obviously.

Well the things he’s best at are pretty translatable skills. He’s a 7 footer who can run, jump, rebound, and block shots, which means he should be able to contribute in those areas instantly. Plus, he’s better than any alternative they have, although Koufos isn’t bad

Cousins is a great ball handler for his size, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some big man alley oops, ala Blake Griffin to DeAndre. I think Cousins is so good that he’ll make it work and Cauley-Stein will fit right in, but it is Sacramento so anything could happen

I dunno why this guy gets negged so much.. I find his strong opinions refreshing. Negging instead of offering an alternative opinion is a cowardly act.

 

I gotta go with Okafor and Porzingis based on a few factors.

1) Fans of these teams are impatient..and quite frankly not that smart. New York is going to have a tough time getting behind a guy they cant really relate to. Porzingas in particular can expect to get booed loudly if hes not the best European since Nowitzki.

2) In Okafors case…Philly is the worst team to play for. No job security. No winning or winning culture. No respect from the basketball community.  A GM that other Franchises hate. No crowds. No endorsement opportunities Basically a 4 year prison sentence cos dude was gonna get minutes regardless. 

I get a feeling that MCW demanded a trade….and KJ Mcdaniel had the right idea rejecting their 4 year contract and accepting 1 just to get outta there.

I thought the same. I think it hurts Aaron Gordon a bit too. I think most people including myself thought that they were going to let Tobias Harris walk. Especially considering that the Magic had hired Scott Skiles. When he coached Tobias Harris in Milwaukee he barely let the guy off the bench.

No one mentioned Trey Lyles yet? Not a bad organization to get drafted to, or a bad team, but this dude is never going to get the chance to start with Favors and Gobert around, and I know that irks some players because it costs them $$$. Lyles is going to be a bench player most likely for the entirty of his rookie deal, and maybe most of his second unless he requests a trade or Gobert/Favors turns into Big Al/Milsap 2.0 in Utah. 

Another rookie who I think landed in a terrible place was Frank the Tank. He’s going to have the stigmatism of being the player who MJ turned down 6 picks with, is going to have the same exact skills set of the player they drafted two years ago in Cody Zeller, and is going to a team that is known for drafting Collegiate stars who bust…I’d be disgruntled if I was Frank right now, that is a terrible situation considering that even though the Hornets are trying to compete right now, blowing it up is always right around the corner. 

Other than that, I think most prospects went to very good situations for them, especially in the second half od the 1st round, those teams and players killed it. Portis to CHI, RHJ to BRK, Anderson to DAL, Grant to NY, and so on and so on.
