I remember arguing with people on here about Rubio’s defensive and shooting capabilities..well..I think this proves his defensive prowess.

The other knock on Rubio was that he can’t shoot…

Well guess what…He’s leads the league in 3 point percentage at 49%. WHILE PLAYING WITH A CAST ON HIS SHOOTING HAND.

He also leads the league in assits at 6.3 per game, and is second in steals at 2.1..but in only 21 minutes a game!! The reason his minutes are so low is because of his wrist injury, he was only playing a few minutes a game when he first returned from surgery.

It doesn’t matter that the line may be 1 foot closer, the point is the kid can shoot. As Jinxed noted, atleast half the people on these boards hate on his shooting/defensive ability and this proves their foolish views on the kid are skewed. If he does enter the draft this year, he could very well be the #1 pick and won’t fall further than #3.

Rubio is pretty good and considering some of the worst teams could use a point guard, I would not be surprised to see him in the top 3 picks. I think he showed he can hold his own to some degree in the Olympics and I don’t see why that will not carry over to the NBA.

Its like a foot and a half closer. That still means he has a great mid-range jumper. He is definatly the real deal.

Nothing to worry about. Remember, you can knock what you want…but at 18 years old he ran the runner up in the Olympics. Spain was actually nipping at the USA’s heels, driven by Rubio’s stellar play. He will be great for years to come.

I bet you didn’t watch the Olympics, huh?? I bet you didn’t see him do some of that stuff against NBA players, huh? I bet you didn’t see how Jason Kidd, Deron Williams, and Chris Paul couldn’t hold him, huh??

Well any way, I hope the Timberwolves do anything to get this kid. The Timberwolves have 3, maybe 4 first round picks, so I hope we use some of those to move up to get this kid.

He’s going to be a great player, at least an 8 to 12 time All Star, as well as a 7 to 8 time All-Defensive Team player. His game has got a very close to ring to Jason Kidd’s and he will see as much success as him. I just hope my lowly Timberwolves get the second pick or trade their pick (probably 4-7), possibly the Miami pick (16-19), and/or possibly Randy Foye to move up for him. After Griffin, Rubio, possibly Jennings, and maybe Harden too, there’s really no guaranteed All-Stars in this draft. After those three it’s kind of a crap shoot, Thabeet is a mountain of man with a decent looking shot out to ten feet (Calhoun never takes advantage of this) and superior shot blocking skills, but he’s very weak, both with his hands and physically. I don’t believe his rebounding skills will ever be very strong and I don’t think he’ll ever have a great feel for the game, but just his mere presence changes the game defensively, so there has to be a place for him the top five. Jordan Hill slowed a bit towards the end of the season statistically, but in games, along with his tremendous physical gifts, he always seemed to express the very strong passion and tanicty that the NBA treasures in Big Men, that will most likely keep him in the 3-7 range. The problem is, he’s only done this for one season, before this year he lacked any kind of desire to play, should he already be considered a “contract” year type of player, a player that will only play to his potential in years where he has the most to lose? As for James Harden, I think he has very sneaky, tremendous quickness and athletcism that’s never able to fully seen because of Herb Sendek’s half court strategy and because of the zone defenses that plague college basketball. Honestly though, he looks to only be 6’4″ at the most in shoes, but I’ve heard his wingspan is in the high 6’s or even low 7’s, but (I hate zone defense in College) he also plays in Sendek’s zone defense, so you’re never really able to see him take a player one on one defensively. I would love to see this, I think it would really show off his athleticism and laterall quickness. I also believe there were some bad evaluations on Harden after his unimpressive showings in the last part of the regular season and in the NCAA Tourney . It appeared that he wasn’t making correct decisions or taking over games when he should’ve. He also looked a bit slower than he did throughout the earlier part of the season, but I think this truly has to do with the fact that he’s not in peak physical condition. You have to realize this kid won’t turn 20 until next August, it would be crazy not to think he’s still growing into his body. If workouts go well for him he’ll go 3 to 5, but if he doesn’t, the farthest he would go down is probably 8, and I think that team would get a hell of a steal.

Rubio will be the most exciting PG in the NBA and one of the top 3 NBA PGs along with Chris Paul and Deron Williams — maybe even the best.

He’ll be MVP material like Steve Nash was.

Rubio is a cross between three players: “Pistol” Pete Maravich, John Stockton.and Magic Johnson.

I´m spanish. I see Ricky almost every week. And I have to say that there are some wrong ideas about him:

First, he is a tall PG, he is thin, but his long legs and arms give him a very important chance in his deffensive skills.

Second, he is not a shooter, he is improving his skills in this field, but he is an average shooter, even not brilliant.

Third, he will never be a 30 ppg player, so it will be difficult to see him as a franchise player.

Four, he has a knwoledge of the game similar to a player ten years older; and he is having responsability and pression of professional competition from 16, that is the great difference between him and any american drafted player.

Five, obviously, his passing and deffensive skills will make him important from his arrive to NBA, but he isn´t Lebron neither Carmelo… to change the face of a team in one year… he will need good players around him.
