Rick Carlisle and the Dallas Mavericks have finalized a five-year, $35 million contract extension
y Carlisle will see out this season & team option Mavs held for next season before new deal takes him through 2021-22 seasonAccording to some source it is the biggest deal for any coach with no executive role
Really good news for Mavs fans ,might actually be the best news we had in 2015 lol

HitsterParticipantRick is a proven NBA Championship winning coach so it makes sense for Dallas to tie him down long term. They obviously see him as the man to lead them through the post Dirk era, so it’s a good deal for both sides IMO.

DolanCareParticipantHe’s an incredible coach. The fact that he brought that 2011 team to a championship is actually mind boggling. I know Kerr, Hoiberg and Budenholzer are showing elite coaching acumen but I still consider Carlisle the number 2 coach behind you know who.

NBAjunkie81Participantcoach is the single most difficult piece of the puzzle when building a team … (those are his words) – Nevertheless, Carlisle is a great coach –
B/c Lebron was struggling in that Final I don’t think thyat Carlisle & the Mavs really got the credit they deserved for the Championship b/c it was Truly remarkable to go through the West w/ an aging Dirk Nowitzki as his #1 option & Jason "Jet" Terry as the #2… Caron Butler & Shawn Marion were the #3 & #4 options & Tyson Chandler was the Defensive anchor in the middle…
That Dallas team swept the two-time defending champion L.A. Lakers (who were also the West’s #1 seed) & looking for a 3 peat w/ Kobe, Gasol & Bynum and the Mavs blew their doors off… Next they beat the upstart OKC Thunder in Only 5 games & OKC(izzle) still had James Harden on the squad w/Westbrook, Durant & Ibaka… And after dispatching two teams W/ 3 All Stars apiece they whipped a NBA best 58 win Miami Heat team that seemed destined to win the Ring & begin the Lebron Legacy in Miami….
During that playoff run, Carlisle had that team technically AND emotionally prepared Every night…. It was a phenominal performance & when you think about what some of these coaches – who have Never done anything in the NBA – are making I believe the Carlisle signing is a bargain….
