Every day, I’m going to put up a basketball rhyme.  If you guys have a rhyme you wanna share, send it to me in a private message and I’ll put it up the next day, without taking your credit of course, I’ll put your name on it.

    Today’s rhyme of the day:

Losing Your Balance  –  J. Cole
Tell em go deep like Cunningham// (Randall Cunningham? Idk)
And you just let em OD like Len Bias//
And that pu..ss..y so good, he let his friends try it//

Man, that rhyme is freaking nasty. Like, not in a good way. Not hating on J. Cole (have yet to hear him), but everyone has their kind of "ugh" lines, and to me, this is one of them.

J Cole is that dude for sure. As far as the "go deep like Cunningham" verse goes, that does relate to Dante Cunningham the quarterback from the early 90’s, so great call with that one.

MikeyVtheDon – The lyrics that are posted don’t do the rest of the song justice.  There are key parts to that verse that are out of there.  If you like hiphop then definitely give JCole a listen.  Make sure its a good listen to because he spits some pretty deep stuff.

I really hope so, because that line does not appear to make him deep by any means. I mean, not that there is anything wrong with it, but hiphopsite.com used to post an end of the year article for "Gayest Rap Lyrics Of The Year", and this would be up there. Again, not that there is anything wrong with it, just am utterly not impressed by those 3 lines.

Let me just say, context is important. When you are posting lyrics that you think are dope, make sure you give context. Otherwise, they might seem kind of wack. The girl in the song has a beautiful voice though, and while the song is nothing incredibly original as far as content, it is definitely not typical of most hip hop out right now that gets played. So, I will definitely give him more of a chance. Still not enthralled by these lines however.

It’s talking about a girl who basically does anything to seem accepted.

Miss high profile caught you shopping on Canal
I guess it makes sense, it seems phony as your style
Your hair and your nails just as phony as your smile
Fake eyelashes, you drew your eyebrows
It make a brother ask, do you pride yourself?
Your make up like a mask, tryna hide yourself
It seems on the outside you thinking you the s..hit
But there’s a soul that’s inside that you don’t even knew exist
So you so out of touch that the world mistreat you,
Rich n.igg.as f.u.c.k you and broke n.igg.as beat you
Hoping this will reach you when you understand
That your value ain’t determined by another man
Cause right now you let them brothers get the upper hand
And you just tell them go deep like Cunningham
And you just let them OD like Len Bias
And that p..us..sy so good he let his friends try it

Believe me, I am very into hip-hop, though less so than I used to be, so I may not be incredibly familiar with newer artists from the last 2 or 3 years. My favorite group of all-time is GangStarr to give you some gauge of what I really like in hip hop, though I am eclectic and think good music transcends genre. Gangster rap just seems to be the lowest common denominator though, I think that is why on all those battle rap shows they resort to it. Believe me, I loved NWA as a kid, and still will bang it every now and than, but so few of these people actually do what they say, it gets tiresome. Plus no one could do it as well as BIG anyway, he was one of the few that actually seemed authentic. Kind of rambling, but again I am into a lot of different hip hop. Here is a rhyme I just came up with, resorting back to gangster raps easiness:

Your game’s weak, don’t respect you one iota,

couldn’t shoot the broad side of barns, like Harrison Barnes verse Minnesota
