Its crazy how just last year there was a real argument for it and a year later Dirk is the consensus number 1. One year later, with a ring, he’s not considered soft or to have many weaknesses. Who’s the player next year where we completely change the way we look at them?
I’m thinking Lebron, but if Carmelo focuses more on defense it could be him too

Chilbert arenasParticipantRemember during the second round of the playoffs when Zach Randolph became the best power forward in the game? And how the best point guard in the league changes every year from CP3 to Dwill to Rondo to Rose. But the I’d say Kobe reasserts himself as the alfa dog in the NBA since he’ll have extra time to get healthy.

MagikKnickParticipantYeah these things are always changing, in the last 3 seasons, Pau, Zach, Tim, Dirk, Bosh, Amar’e, and Lamarcus were all considered the NBA’s top PF at one point…
As far as something for next year, i’d say James Harden throws his name in the top SG category

NJHooper95ParticipantWhoever people are watching in the playoffs and keep advancing is the best player in their minds. I never thought Paul stop being arguably the best pg with all things considered. I look at his ability to carry an inferior team with his playmaking and I know he is the best pg.
Fans, media, critics, are wishy-washy- whoever is hot is the best in their minds and thats CRAP. I always knew Zach Randolph was a beast he has basically be a 20 10 guy throughout his career when healthy and focused.
I wondered where people would have ranked Mitch Richmond had he been on a good playoff team in his prime and made several runs. He was one of the best shooting guards to play, but often went unoticed because he played on inferior teams.
I agree with Chilbert Arenas, Kobe will have a big season and playoff and everybody will say he is the best again. I never thought he stop being the best. I think he has just been hampered and worn out.
