RUDEBOY_ParticipantThis year nba fans are celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Original Dream Team, but now comes word that after the London games NBA plars will no longer be apart of the Olympics…
Yahoo Sports is reporting that the nba has entered discussions with FIBA to create a ”World Cup Of Basketball” inwhich they would control the revenues generated from International Competition..
David Stern said the league will take time to deliberate how it would proceed in the future, but multiple NBA and International sources say there’s very little chance the nba will send its best players to participate in the summer games beyond the 2012 London Olympics…Dallas owner Mark Cuban said he’s not aware of the NBA specific intentions to send nba players to the rebranded World Cup..But said he has long lobbied for more control of the tournament…
Yahoo Sports Matt Norlander have suggested the idea of sending a 23 and under team, which means returning to college players..USA might not be as dominant and it makes winning all the time more difficult..We want them to win,but they want the money..Its is what it is..The wear and tear on their bodies for nothing ..The honor of playing for their country isn’t enough for them now..There are a few guys like Dwayne Wade that have participated in the games a few times and don’t feel the need to surrender their summers without getting paid…0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/20/2012 - 6:23am #684479

B-ball fanParticipantWell, the Olympics were supposed to be an amateur event at heart, anyways. It will still be fun to watch. Rather see players who don’t take the chance to represent their country in the Olympics for granted.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantThat is a more fair policy than the individual players collecting more money for playing in a in an international tournament… The Olympic games are bigger than a few NBA players, and it should be controlled by the governing bodies that run the day to day functions and assure the world we have an Olympic competition in today’s modern age…Wade and other NBA stars should be resting and preparing for the next NBA season… Young and up and coming players should be playing in those competitions, players that are hungry and willing to be a part of the bigger Team USA/International aspects… It should be a 23 and under cutoff across the board though, maybe it will create better international players and systems…The International game is far different right now, largely in part to the difference between The US and it’s Black Athletes who vastly superior to the rest of the world from a physical stand point, International players are usually better passers and shooters, their teams seem to be comprised of older players whereas the Us/NBA teams are built around their younger stars…

Memphis MadnessParticipantI would be disappointed if the great American NBA stars didn’t play in 2016. We have some really great talent and most of the top guys can play within a team role and are willing passers –especially if they are surrounded by other great players. LBJ, Rondo, and CP3 are three of the best players in the league and also some of the best facilitators. Then we have some high level role player types like Tyson Chandler and Iggy who perform well for us.
I also like having an Olympic influence on our players — not just the AAU-style ball that these guys grow up with. I think the international game is fun to watch with it’s emphasis on ball movement, passing, and all-around shooting.
I would like to see an under-23 rule then if it is either that or no NBA players. So we could still have guys who have been in the league two or three years to go along with some of our college stars. We could have Kyrie Irving, John Wall, Kemba Walker, Kenneth Faried, Kawhi Leonard, DeMarcus Cousins, and Greg Monroe along with Anthony Davis, Harrison Barnes, MKG, and Thomas Robinson. We would have a lot of talent to chose from. A bunch of young, energetic, talented players and some guys with some NBA seasoning.
The reason I would like this is that I thought the Rising Stars game was the best part of All-Star weekend. Put some of those guys along with maybe a couple of 3rd year pros and then fill out the roster with some college basketball stars/heroes like Anthony Davis, Harrison Barnes, and Thomas Robinson. I think that that would help our young NBA talent and be HUGE for our great draft picks going into their rookie year.

ChewyParticipantYa that’s a good idea… let the owners own another thing. That way they can have twice as many lockouts.
Hey owners.. how about instead of trying to make a "World Cup" you try making a decent minor league professional organization. Where EVERY NBA team has a farm team. Then we could have 4 or more rounds in the NBA draft because you can send them to your farm team. The D League is a joke that doesn’t pay it’s players so they all go overseas.

Stern and Cuban think that the other country federations will hand them these tournaments and let them own them, control them, and pick the players and teams………….
