I hope for their sake they didn’t pay him any more than 9 million a year.

doubledribblerParticipantI heard it was 5 years for $50 million. I’m not sure why they paid him so much. No one would have offered him anything close to that. I do think he is a good player, but I agree that they need someone who is not so soft. They just tried this same experiment with Jermaine O’Neal where they had 3 soft perimeter shooting big men. Hopefully he becomes a superstar and they can look back and say what a bargain they have. Personally, though I would have tried to negotiate something smaller or just wait until free agency. I doubt he would have gotten an offer like that from another team or even in Europe. They don’t have to overpay the European players that love Toronto, they need to overpay the American players to stay there.
