Per Marc Stein of espn.com. This is interesting.

Detroit fans, has management soured on the young big man & do you all think he’s a franchise cornerstone moving forward? IMO I’ve always thought his D was overrated…. and that his offensive limitations will hinder him from becoming a truly elite big man.

Ainge said that he wants rebounding and shot blocking . So why not make a play for Drummond.? That would allow horford to play more on the perimeter. And knowing that’s it’s isiah’s team already he would know to just play his roll. Rebound defend alley hoops . Offensive put backs

Until they change the rule, Hack-a-Drummond will always be a threat to the Pistons’ success. Teams can literally use that approach in any significant game they play the Pistons, and Detroit doesn’t have the neccessary supporting cast to counter it.

Now that Cousins has been traded, only centre I’d realistically trade him for is Whiteside, and I don’t think that Miami would go for it. Can’t see any trades Detroit would consider doing.

He’d be a perfect fit in MN next to Towns but the Wolves have no assets.

I guess that hasn’t stopped teams like the Knicks, Lakers and Heat from somehow getting involved in trade talks with teams in the past.

We must have a different opinion on what assets are.

Wolves have a bunch of young talented players and as far as I’m aware all first round picks in upcoming drafts (correct me if I’m wrong).  And aren’t the Pistons interested in Rubio?  He would be a good fit there.  They could definitely put together an attractive package if they were interested.

Their 2018 pick (top 14 protected until 2020) belongs to ATL, so they cannot trade a first until 2020 (at the earliest). In terms of players, I agree they could put something together.

Detroit do not have much going for them.  Its not a free agent destination.  Drummond is going to be hacked relentlessly, making him unplayable in crunch times of big games. The other guys they are building around are just OK.. They may as well blow up the roster, theyll never even get the to ECF with this group.

As a pistons fan, I was never high on Drummond even as a college player. Good rebounder but poor ft shooter, never played with a lot of heart or passion.

If we can get a lotto pick for him and not make the playoffs, I would be happy to get Frank N or D’Aron Fox as a PG and then grab Giles or Jarrett Allen as the second pick

@frogman my mistake. I guess I don’t consider Towns/Wiggins/Lavine assets because they aren’t moving those guys.

The "assets" the Wolves have would be Rubio, Muhammad and that’s about it. Nothing near enough to draw Drummond in a trade.
