Lotto StudParticipantEveryone knows his best position is the PG spot, but with all the rumors of Sacramento considering going with a PG, he may be slated as a 2 this upcoming season. Reke has always been a PG until he went to Memphis, in his lone year to play off the ball. After awhile Cal realized he was more dominate with the ball in his hands making plays & placed him on the PG duties. With the options of bringing in Knight or Walker, what will it mean for Reke as a SG, because he has never really played off the ball. One can only imagine how effective he would be, because his shot is very suspect.
How productive can he be as a SG?

Lotto StudParticipantI really can’t see him playing off the ball coming off screens making jumpers. He is an attacker, he has to get his in the paint.

ilike.panochasParticipantFor him, he’s more dominant as a PG, but team success wise, he is better if played as a SG. He needs to play with a PG that is good distributing the ball, and Evans also needs to work on his jumpshot to be a more well rounded scorer. Kemba would be good for the Kings because he has shown he can play without the ball in his hands and is also capable of running an offense, Evans can still play some PG alongside Kemba, Kemba seems to be a willing and unselfish PG.

sheltwon3Participantregardless of position(see Lebron) Tyreke will probably handle the ball more and Walker or whomever is drafted will have to adjust. I do believe Reke will have to learn to do more off the ball because he could be more dangerous off the ball if he adds some aspects to his game.

TimbosliceParticipantI’m seeing these threads today saying tyreke is best at the PG spot and I couldn’t disagree more. Even the kings didn’t think so, they let udrih run the point over tyreke so that should tell you something.
Just because he is better with the ball doesn’t mean he’s a point guard (lebron, Kobe, wade). All he needs is some work on his J and he’ll be ok, good players do that, they figure out what they need to do to make themselves as good as they can be and they do it.
Let’s also remember it’s his second year and he’s what, 20 years old? He’s only begun to scratch the surface on what type of player he can be

Dr.RedParticipantReke is much more effective with the ball in his hands than coming off the ball, but he is no PG. The best option for Sac would be to find a great shooter who plays solid D to play the point. Jimmer could be a good fit, even though his D may be suspect in the league – but he will work his butt off in practice and on every position, and I think he won’t be afraid to speak his mind…something the Kings really need. What Sacramento really needs is a leader! Someone who sets an example for the rest of the team with hard work! The Kings just didn’t look like they were a TEAM this year. Cousins and Evans need to find a balance, and that is where a real PG, floor general, and team leader are needed most. I’m not sure if Kemba is a great fit, since he likes to have the ball in his hands, but might have the right attitude to take the reigns. Knight could be a good fit, but might be too humble to take on the leadership role needed by this team.

raybeasParticipantdribbles a lot doesnt make him a PG. He’s a slashing 2 with above average handles and a weak J who can occasionally find an open man. If that is what passes for a point guard now, the game has really fallen.

Da1potParticipantHe’s a slasher at the two position who needs to improve his jump shot- which is the main reason he is not your typical NBA two-guard. He is a decent playmaker and distributor actually, he just needs more reliable scoring options around him besides just Cousins.

BasketBalAllanParticipantI honestly think the Kings are looking at a PG in this years draft so they can try Tyreke at SF. He has shown that he can hang defensively with most SF’s in the NBA and there are only a few who would be able to handle guarding him on the other end of the floor. This would open up the rotation for Thornton, who lit up the boards with his shooting at the end of last year, to start at the two and someone else to be drafted as the starting PG. This however could create problems at the defensive end of the floor if you draft a PG who becomes a bit of a defensive liability.

apb540ParticipantIf you are a ball dominant player it does not really matter what position you are since you’re going to have the ball regardless. Reke HAS to learn how to move without the ball. Honestly, it’s one thing that LeBron never learned and it certainly isn’t helping his game. Being able to find open spots on the floor and understanding that your teammates sometimes create too is very important for a player like Tyreke to understand.

BBall4life88ParticipantI think Sacramento is the perfect team for a combo scoring guard because Reke is able to defend the SG position and play the point. A shooting combo guard would be a great fit…I thought Thorton had a great year playing that role but he is streaky and doesn’t have a high FGA/3pt %, so they could also look at snipers like Jimmer or Andrew Goudelock (at #35 would be a great addition for Sac) to play that role and i think it would be a good fit because he would spread the court more with Reke and share ball handling duties.
Just thinking outside the box, but having said that I think Kemba would be the best fit for Sac’s future, and with Kemba they could get some PG leadership and a true floor general.
If I was Sac I would take Kemba at 7, Andrew Goudelock at 35
