Wishing you and your fam the best. You are definitely my boy, but I have little idea of what you were looking to accomplish with this. I still think that Chris Paul and Deron Williams are better PG’s than Rajon Rondo, lol. Just because they are the best players on teams that have not gotten as far as Rajon, that does not necessarily make Rajon better. He has never played either of them in the play-offs, not to mention I remember Derrick Rose more than holding his own when playing Rajon in the play-offs (not to mention getting further in the play-offs this year, which only makes him better than Rondo because he is, in fact, better than Rondo). Rondo is probably the best defender on the list (slightly, over Westbrook), but I think your "Facts" you made regarding Chris Paul and Deron Williams were not necessarily that.

Yes, being a great player definitely plays into circumstance, but you had no rebuttal for Rondo shooting 40.7% from the field and averaging 10.2 ppg when they won a championship (With KG at 20.4, Pierce at 19.7 and the Finals MVP and Ray Allen at 15.6. Definitely do not see Paul or Williams getting that help). If the Celtics were to be offered Paul and Williams straight up for Rondo, I think they would be mental not to take it. They have had to play a much different role than Rondo, but that does not mean they are not every bit the PG that Rondo is. Paul’s steals are not everything, but he puts fantastic pressure on the ball and is a complete offensive force. Deron Williams is a brilliant playmaker and incredibly strong, and he only played 12 games in New Jersey due to injury, so not a lot of time to get things done. Just because they are both more complete offensive players than Rondo and have to usually been primary scorers to keep their team competitive, that does not mean they are less complete PG’s. Do not know where that argument stems from. You may like Rondo better, he does have a ring and he made the Finals and has played well. But, both of those guys have not been bad themselves and have done some pretty awesome things with a lot less help.

I will rank the NBA Players based on offense, defense and overall as of where I see them if the season started immediately (The other stuff just is way to out there and hard to calculate, and your "rating" system is confusing):

Offense (Ability to shoot, score, set-up team mates and do it efficiently):

    1. Derrick Rose

    2. Russell Westbrook

    3. John Wall

    4. Stephen Curry

    5. Rajon Rondo

    6. Ty Lawson

    7. Jrue Holiday

    8. Brandon Jennings (His scoring ability should merit him a higher ranking, but his percentages are too low)

    9. Jeff Teague

    10. Ricky Rubio

    Defense:

    1. Rajon Rondo

    2. Russell Westbrook

    3. Jrue Holiday

    4. John Wall

    5. Derrick Rose

    6. Jeff Teague

    7. Ty Lawson

    8. Brandon Jennings

    9. Ricky Rubio

    10. Stephen Curry

    Overall

    1. Derrick Rose

    2. Russell Westbrook

    3. Rajon Rondo

    4. John Wall

    5. Stephen Curry

    6. Jrue Holiday

    7. Ty Lawson

    8. Brandon Jennings

    9. Jeff Teague

    10. Ricky Rubio

It was hard to focus on this post once I started it because my daughters were running around Pre-Turkey and my concentration waivered a bit…Funny how Mikey always seems to accomplish what some one started(poorly at that)

Again apologies for the confusing nature of the Post…I wanted to get a Idea of where people ranked Certain Players, and Mikey best accomplished that though I’m sure he had trouble doing so…also I think I’m going to have to admit defeat on my views about Rondo Vs. Paul and Williams, until Rajon developes an outside shot and drops 50 in the Euro League I Will always be wrong…I just have a different opinion as to how I think a Pg should run a Team and apparently Paul and Williams are not My Type of Point Guard…I know someone in the world can prefer Skittles over M&M’s…

To me John wall has the most potential out of all the guys becuase of his excellent combination of size and speed. Becuase of this he has amazing potential on the defensive end, on the offensive end we already know he is one of the best passing point guards in recent memory plus his jumpshot is coming along.

I mean, it has been rare when the main scoring option on a championship team has been a PG. The last time a PG has lead his team in scoring in the play-offs and won a championship in the same season was Isiah Thomas in 1990. Tony Parker lead them in scoring in the Finals, but Tim Duncan still averaged more in the play-offs. Rip Hamilton was the Pistons play-off scoring leader when Billups won Finals MVP in 2004. Magic Johnson never lead the team in play-off scoring during any of his five titles.

So, historically, having a PG as your main offensive option has not necessarily lead to rings. But, their is really no set mold of PG that has won a NBA championship. Their have been a number with vastly different styles, playing vastly different roles to help get their teams championships. I feel that if Chris Paul or Deron Williams were given a situation where they did not have to be the main option, than they could very well flourish. Carlos Boozer was a solid low post scorer, but Derrick Rose had to take even more of the offensive burden with him on the team. David West has been a good second banana, but definitely not a great one or one you could build through. Same can definitely be said of Brook Lopez, who Deron has as his next best offensive option.

While D-Will and CP3 may not have rings, they still have played enough of a role and shown enough to know they are solid team leaders and I feel in a different class of PG from Rondo due to them being more complete offensive basketball players. I feel Derrick Rose is very much the same, and where you see Rondo taking it to him, I saw a guy who played exceptionally well against an older veteran player. Their styles are contrasting, but I think Rondo’s ring does not necessarily put him above these players, especially seeing where he was when he won the ring. I also think that Deron Williams and Chris Paul may be seen as more scoring guards, but I think they do it more out of necessity rather than some sense of ego or "superstar mentality".

You may like your PG to be a certain way, for instance a player who is more of a distributor and defender who can score when called upon but is not necessarily the guy you need to lead you in scoring. In that case, a guy like Jrue Holiday or Rajon Rondo works quite well. But, not every player has that luxury, and I believe that Chris Paul and Deron Williams for the most part have not had scenario’s where they can give the scoring load to someone else. I do not think it is as much mentality as necessity or what is best for the team. When Rondo finally loses the players who made the Celtics a title contender, we will see if he does not change his game as well. Still, I think that you do whatever gets your team the W, and in the case of Williams and Paul, that has meant they needed to score more than one might want their PG to score.

But I think Jrue Holiday has the most potential to be a great Scorer and 1 on 1 Defender out of all those YOUNG PG’s…I never see Rose/Westbrook or Wall having the outside shot Holiday has now(Those are 3 big time scoring Pg’s but they don’t have a Jumper and doubt they get one anytime soon) And as far as defense is concerned…Playing the passing lanes for STEALS IS NOT DEFENSE, it is in fact BAD DEFENSE and LEAVES YOUR TEAM AT A HUGE DISADVANTAGE, non of the guys on that list play GOOD Man to Man, Jrue Holiday however is a GREAT Man to Man Defender and doesn’t get the STEALS PER GAME because he Plays exellent Defense and does not hurt his team by leaving his man open after he misses a Steal ATTEMPT…I think Holiday has the best chance to be a Great 2 way Player at Pg, much like Gary Payton or John Stockton were, both of those guys had Great Offensive stats and Played great Defense(Payton’s was a Legendary Lock Down Defender)…what sucks is both of those Guys Lack a Ring to validate their styles were Highly Successful and Respected by Coaches to this day…A Scoring point Guard while great to have isn’t a MUST Have to win a Ring, that we both agree on…I think the NBA is a PG friendly league right now and I think it may be time for a Team with an exceptional Point Guard to Win a Championship…Paul or Williams put in the right scenario could very well be the First to acclomplish this…I however don’t see that happening and would beat on a player like Curry/Holiday/Lawson/Teague winning one before Them down the road( as they are more the complimentary Pg then PG/Leading Scorer we both agree Haven’t won Championships in the past what 20 years…

Wow, my rankings are really skewed. It was hard for me to do the defensive rankings, and If I had time, a scale of 1-100 would be a bit more accurate.
