Randle is a horrible defender; he  is very lazy on defence and in transition he doesn’t hustle back .He is a  poor foul shooter and on offense he is very predictable. He depends on his spin move to much. He needs learn how to play on both sides of the court.

You need a hug bro you reaching and you must be bored to write something that crazy. The guy just played his butt off against the number 1 team in college basketball. Articles all around the web on how great he played and you come on this site and say something negative. Are you mad that your not apart of this Kentucky team?

everyone is overeacting about how well he played, instead of looking at his skillset and how it will transition to the NBA. Yes he was dominate last night, yes he will have a dominate college season, but will he be dominate in the NBA? Probably not.

First off, his wingspan is just too short, in conjunction with being 6’8" just makes him undersized. He will not be able to defend PF’s in the league, which is probably the deepest position in the NBA.

Second, he literally has no right hand. How can you be an elite prospect, be  playing basketball for probably 10 years of your life, and not be able to use both hands on offense? Who has been coaching this guy? He will easily be defended by bigger PF’s in the league.

People are overreacting over one game, when in reality if you step back and look at the big picture he is nothing more than an average PF in the NBA.

He has had three spectacular games, so nobody is reacting to one good game. And looking at his skill set you can tell that it’s elite. Nobody in college basketball can stop this guy, especially down low. He doesn’t even have to use his right hand to finish, he can get his shot off with comfort whenever he wants because he can’t be physically matched in college basketball. He is just putting his body into guys and finishing over and through them, whether its one, two, or three guys. Looking forward I love his NBA potential. Everyone wants to talk about positions but fails to realize this guy is just a flat out player, stop trying to box him into one category. He isn’t 6-8, and I understand that helped your arguement so you said it, but he is 6-9 or 6-9.5 and I don’t think a couple inches off his wingspan is going to mean he will stop being effective at the next level. People are also underselling his athletic ability. Maybe thats due to people comparing him to Zach Randolph just because he has some facial resemblence to him or maybe because he has been strictly been playing in the post thus far, but I’d say he’d be an elite athlete at the NBA level at both the 3 and 4 spot in the NBA. Why people think he can’t be a NBA SF is beyond me, but besides his jumper needing refinement I don’t see what he can’t do that other SF’s can that would make people think this. At the PF in the next level he is the average height and far too quick and athletic for most NBA 4’s to handle. He will be a mismatch problem for alot of defenders, and his defense will come with time, we know that. He has all the capabilities and I think judging his defense after three games on a new level in a new system after three games is far stupider than dissecting what he can and can’t do with the ball. That is something natural that doesn’t leave you or change much, defense takes time.

Maybe he doesn’t shoot with his right hand, but he looks good driving right and he has nice moves in either direction out of the post.  I don’t see the big issue with his right hand, especially considering he drove right more often than not against Michigan State.

And while I agree he may have a tougher time transitioning from the NCAA to the NBA than Parker and Wiggins (although he may be the best, or at least most productive, college player of the three), he still has such good footwork, strength and touch that he should be able to adapt to the NBA.  I understand the reluctance to embrace the NBA potential of a scoring PF, as there have been a lot of busts or disappointments in recent years for players of that mold, but Randle has a post game that is uncommon at the collegiate level to go along with outstanding rebounding ability.

you sound like all the people that defend Blake Griffin. Just cause the guy can put up points and is athletic doesn’t mean he will fit into a championship style team in the NBA. Just like Blake he will probably dominant on offense, but his team will never win a championship because he is a liability on defense.

Like I said, the defense will come with time. He is 18, and has alot to learn. He has all the tools and thats all you can say regarding how good of a defender he will be in the future.

It is too early to talk about any current college player being an integral part of a championship team.  Wiggins and Parker are in the same boat as Randle in that regard.  And Griffin may have his flaws, but he is a very effective NBA player who happens to play on a championship contender, whom most people would argue is a "championship style team" (I don’t expect the Clippers to win the title, but they are one of the top contenders in my opinion).

Randle has his flaws and he is the type of player who could hurt is team if he disappoints due to his aggressiveness and high-usage style of play.  But to right him off as some team cancer or perenially one dimensional player is premature, to say the least.  Yes, he has to work on his defense and he could do to develop as a pick-and-roll and transition player.  But defense is generally developed later by a lot of players used to being their team’s go-to guy.  He just has to learn.  He likely will never be a great defender, but he only needs to become a solid positional defender given his offensive upside.

For the love of god.  The kid is 18 years old and we got people saying he is too short and will never become a good defener.  He probably has more growth in him and he is 3 games into his college career even though he has another 17 years of basketball in him and we have come to the conclusion that he will never be a good defender.  The idiodicy of some people make we wanna cry.

I compare it to the Wizards draft when they took Jan Vesely. He is not a protypical player that wins you titles, the obvious pick there was a guy like Kawhi Leonard; a guy who is a great defender and 3 point shooter. Those are the type of guys who win you titles.

My only opinion here is he isn’t a guy that with his skillset and size fits who you usually see win championships. Yes he will put up numbers, but I just don’t see him meshing with his playstyle with other teammates.
