Quincy Miller reminds me very much of Rudy Gay. Putting up very solid, yet not mind-blowing numbers his freshman year at Baylor. Miller has a very sleepy offensive game that can sneak up on you quick. Good athlete, range out to 3 with solid mid-range. What do you think?

Watching him lastnight he has a similar game. But he is nowhere near the athlete, he looks slightly slow footed maybe average hops. Resemble more towards Austin daye.

Miller has great athleticism, recovering from a serious knee injury it may take some time to regain athleticism, but it is there.

And that is your opinion, Miller is an above average athlete coming off knee surgery. For one to resemble another does not mean they are identical players, yet many aspects of their game are similar. This is the case with Gay and Miller.

It’s not an opinion it’s a fact, he isn’t as athletic as Gay. Not even close.

I hate to say it but the Austin Daye comparison isn’t bad at all, I also would say Donte Greene.

Definitely second the Austin Daye comparisons.  Maybe a little bit of Rashard Lewis?

Also, I love watching his flat-footed jumper.

I don’t think Miller is the all around player Gay is, and certainly not the rebounder, which in part is probably due to his slim physique.  I watched the Missouri game where he went off, but I expected it.  Missouri is a legit top 5 team, but not one built like NBA competition.  He is a big time mis-match for a team like the Tigers, because he is so tall and their back court is so short he was guarded for much of the game by their backup center Steve Moore who is very slow and not very good out on the perimeter.  6’2” Matt Pressey also guarded him for a large portion of the game as well.

I’m not trying to hate on a guy dropping 29, it’s just that he is a 6’9” jump shooter playing against one of the shortest teams in the NCAA.  Their starting lineup is 5’10”, 6’2”, 6’3”, 6’6”, 6’8”.  Miller took advantage and showed some serious skill, but since their best defender (Kim English) had to take on Jones, it left Miller the ability to go wild. He also only managed 4 rebounds, one at halftime, against a 6’2” defender or one much slower than him.

It showed a nice clinic of his offensive moves against guys who were terribly mismatched to guard in on the collegiate level.  Not a whole lot more.  If he’s lining up at small forward in the NBA against a guy like Rudy Gay, well, he’s just not there yet.

I think Miller is a player who would be wise to come back next season.  I think he has a bright future, but he’s not quite there yet.

Dale, he’s fast in the open court due to his long stride, and capable of quick spin moves on a pivot, but his overall lateral quickness isn’t very good.

Almost all his points came from jumpshots and it’s very well seen that he almost doesn’t get up from the ground while shooting. NBA standards he is at best an average athlete although he does have good length.

In my opinion, he is definetely not one-and-done prospect he should stay for a few more years in college to work on his handle, on shooting mechanics ( his release point is very low I know that many will say that KD also has the same problem, but Quincy is not the athlete KD is nor he has the same length ) and overall game.

Summing up, he is a good prospect but he definetely has to spend few more years in the university to polish his game and work on his defence because he does not posses good lateral quickness.

Due to his knee injury he might take the leap to the NBA to avoid risk of re-tearing it.

He has a lot of highlights on the web, you won’t see much difference from him  as an athlete now and then pre injury.

he was a way different athlete before the injury. The injury slowed him down athletically. Before he was an above average athlete kind of like KD because KD is not real explosive just has a certain level of explosiveness with real good smoothness.Thats is what quincy had.Now he does not have it. God bless him though to overcome that ACL and still maintain skills and not be scared to get back on the floor.

Q was my favorite incoming freshman mostly due to his outstanding size and athleticism. In high school he did remind me of Rudy Gay he use to drop a few highlight real dunks everygame. The injury hasn’t hurt his jump shot but it def seems to have hurt his explosiveness. Anybody who saw Miller as a JR. in high school knows he can crazy athleticism for his height. I thought he was a better incoming prospect then Perry Jones and that may still be true. I think Miller will return and if he does he will be a top 5 pick if not top 3 because he will blossom as a sophomore with PJ3 gone and regain some of his hops.

Donte Green is a good comparison.

He needs a ton of polish and seems to lack maturity, but he does have good potential as a scorer due to his length, size, and his natural shooting touch. He is an above average ball-handler for a 6’9 guy, but he’s a bit upright with it which slows him significantly in the half court, and he shows limited awareness of his surroundings which leads to charges and ugly turnovers. His shot is nice in terms of being a natural shooter, and he does already show a potentially great mid-range game, but he’s still piecing it together. He’s a smooth athlete who can play above the rim, and his body control and fluidity are both great, but he’s not ultra explosive. Right now it’s worth note that he’s not a very good defensive player at all. He struggles with the ame lack of awareness in Baylor’s zone, doesn’t make his presence felt in man situations, and he doesn’t play with alot of energy on that end. He’s an average rebounder as well, and is only OK about boxing out. I think he has alot of confidence about himself, but sometimes he’s too cocky too. He can let things get to his head on the floor.

Overall he’s a great prospect, but he will have rough stretches with alot of his nice stretches until he adds alot more polish and gets smarter.

I see absolutely no Kevin Durant in him honestly^^

Durant could just pull up from 3 or could cross a pg and get a AND1 in the lane …as for Miller he is way slower then Durant and doesnt have his dribbling or the jumper

I dont even know if he can play sf at the NBA level

Gay is one of the SUPREME athletes in the NBA. Even a pre-injury Miller was no where near as overall athletic as Rudy Gay, although he is a good athlete in his own right……

IMO, he is a hard player to draw a comparison to simply due to the fact that he creates his shots similar to a 2guard with creative ballhandling. He definitely needs more polish and would be best served to come back another year or 2, but personally based on potential alone, he’s one of my favorite players in the draft.

BTW, he’s not aterrible athlete, but he’s not Durant. Even before the injury, simply not as smooth and lacks that little bit of explosiveness Durant possesses. His athleticism reminds me Daye while his offensive game actually reminds more a 6’9 SF version of Jamaal Crawford. He doesn’t have Jamaal’s overall versatility, but purely scoring(Usually with jumpers) reminds me of Jamaal.

As big a fan of Donte as I was when he was at Cuse, he has been nothing more than a let down. Never developed his game the way he wanted and never had the drive to grab his potential.

Quincy was never a great athlete, even before the injury. He was never quick, and might even be slower this year because of the bulk he’s added. He was nevr quick in HS. He got where he wanted because he was a deceptive (and sometimes illegal) ball-handler.
