lalailaParticipantto begin with I love Ant im one of those fans who sees potential franchise changer potential DPOY potential all-NBA player for some years in everything goes right, but..
i have one question about his physique, and it’s actually not about his weight. I also interested in bodybuilding and i know that type of wide shoulders means a lot, he might get 20 pounds as fast as in one year with out effecting his athleticism..it’s about his standing reach..has anyone noticed his stnading reach is only 9′.. I mean i thought AD and Henson were almost identical and would have somewhere between 9’3-9’5 standing. Both are nearly the same in height and winspan measurements but Henson actually has that 9’3.5..then you can take a look at other long bigs at combines like Derrick Favors 6’10 7’4arms and 9’2 standing reach; Dwight 6’10 7’5 9’3 standing, Cousins 6’11 7’6 9’5 standing
9feet is the range of Derrick Williams, Tristan Thompson, Carlos Boozer ect.
so will it effect his overall game?it might not effect his shot-blocking thanks to his perfect timing, explosiveness and 7’6 wingspan, but how about rebounding, shooting hook shot over tall defenders, or man to man defense?

JoeWolf1It won’t effect his overall game.
The difference in wingspan compared to standing reach is related to shoulder witdth. Davis, despite being skinny, has broad shoulders. That is all it indicates, a 9′ standing reach for a power forward is still very, very good. It may not be as elite as some suspected, but I think he broad shoulders indicate he’ll be able to put on upper body strength easier than a guy like Henson who has narrow shoulders.
He could probably be around 240 without it negatively effecting his athletic ability. Adding muscle usually helps the athletic ability of very skinny players.
I think Kevin Durant is a perfect example. He’s a much more explosive leaper and quicker player now that he’s added more muscle that propels his body off the ground.
One can add too much weight, I think Drew Gooden is the best example I can think of, and if Davis ever is over 250 I think it will start to effect his mobility, but he’s got room to fill out and I suspect it will have a positive effect on his athletic ability.
